I totally get what you mean. He has a great voice - I'm not saying anything bad - I'm just honest and say that it just didn't touch me that much. I liked the "rawness" of Sungjae's voice more. When I want to hear a nice high voice - I listen to a female singer. I have never really liked male voices that sang too much falsetto .. high pitches. But that is in the end preference. As I said - I will look into their songs a bit more, maybe I will change my mind and they will grow on me. I like Stray Kids a lot - but they have more of a toughness, roughness.... which I like.
If you're a fan of Stray Kids's music I don't think BTOB is your cup of tea. They are almost polar opposite. BTOB is more instrumental in their sounds, focus on melodies, hence why it's natural for them to always have live band in their concerts. Their songs lean towards old school, mostly old-school RnB, but also a bit rock implements. For me, they're a mix of Boyz II Men, NSYNC, Westlife, Backstreet Boys type of group. The rap-style is more melodic and unique. They have many OST-like songs, healing-songs and ofc their biggest hits are ballads, etc. They have a big variety in their discography, so I'm sure there's something for everyone. Music is subjective, but technically, Changsub has a phenomenal voice and vocal tone (so does the rest of BTOB tbh, they learn from each other) I'm sure you'll appreciate him more if you check them out more, but a preference is a subjective choice anyway, nothing to argue about. I would suggest BTOB - Show and Prove if you'd like a lower register from Changsub. Anyway, their latest 2 albums are really good and all songs are self-composed so maybe check those songs out next? Although, Thriller is their darkest concept, maybe you like it. Higher from Be Together album is also an awesome rock song, especially live in these University festivals they've been going too!! (I hope they do more rock, it fits their vocals!). Thanks for the reaction!

Melody, let’s just love our boys on our own. We are one of the most respectful and polite fandom I know, you don’t really have to explain to every reactors or try to defend BTOB’s music in any way. They (reactors) have their own preferences just like we do, the reason our fandom exist. If others happen to not like or doesn’t suit their style of music to which what our boys been producing, we let them be and moved on. No need to explain, convince or defend, just like what they (reactors) are saying we respect each other’s opinion. We do not need to spend energy on petty comments. I agree his voice might be different but Changsub's voice is one of the rarest in the industry. I think it will take some time for you to get it but alot of us in the fandom loves his voice solely because of how good of a story teller he is and is full of emotion when singing! 😄 thanks for reacting to BTOB!🎉

The reason that Minhyuk's (the first guy from the left) rap in the songs are mostly agressive is because his part in the song is usually in the climax, wherein the lyrics became aggressive or desperate. Also, I would like to recommend Changsub's (the second one from the right) cover of Amazarashi. His low tone is so beautiful and I think you should here it!❤
BTOB debuted in 2012, so they are a long lasting group. I think they have chosen recent songs to perform. Why there are gaps in years is because the elder 3 were in military service, and after the younger members went to military. When they were on the show Kingdom: Legendary War, only elder 3 members + Peniel who is an American were on the show. They have also released albums and were on KCON etc. quite active as 4 member group. In 2022 they all came back together. (Actually one member has left the group in 2020.) The song you liked “Wind and Wish” their latest comeback song, is called “Param” in Korean which means wind as well as wish. This is my personal impression of the song but the members are singing this song in thoughts of the member who has left the group. This song gives me a happy feeling and I really love this song. Changsub, the voice you said you like the least, has always been assigned to btob's higher register parts. But i swear he can go low as well and he can have grit and rasp into his singing. He's a musical actor as well and he has his solo songs if you would want to explore more into his voice.
Talking about favourite voice, for me the first place is Yook Sungjae (the guy which you like his voice) and 2nd is Lee Changsub (the guy which you like the least). Yes, thank you, I didn't like him here that much... that doesn't mean I won't like him in general - but I will listen to the full songs and watch the MVs. The group as a group is outstanding. I liked the song "I'll be your man" and even have a reaction on it here... thats how I came to this killing voice episode. I've discussed the "best voice" thing in a few videos before... I think its not about having the best voice... it has to be a voice that touches you no matter how "good" it is. And that is a very subjective and individual thing for every person that listens. I don't want to be that reactor that says YEAH to everything just to get the views... I'm a musician and tend to look at things from a different viewpoint. For example - Kurt Cobain from Nirvana probably had one of the "worst" cracked up unskilled voices in the industry .... but he touched billions of people with it because he transported something deep with it. I liked him too. I like V from BTS, Han from Stray Kids even though he is also rather high pitched here and there. Some ppl say the BeeGees had superb voices ... I can't listen to them at all. Best example for a male voice I really like is COLDE

This Killing Voice was meant to be 2022, but the members got COVID so it was delayed until 2023. Your opinion is very welcome to melody. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I love mellow, melodic, and mature music. I really like well trained vocals and falsetto. It's why I'm not a fan of Stray Kids, even though I like their off stage stuff. Appreciate that you like music for the opposite reason. Old school, ballads groups are my favs 😊 How good are their harmonies! 11+ years of singing together is a wonderful thing. They each have their role is the group, we don't often get chest voice or low from Eunkwang or Changsub because those parts are Sungjae and Hyunsiks. But their own music lets them explore their full range. In the group Eunkwang tends to use a chesty mix for nearly everthing, changsub tends to use falsetto, and Sungjae and Hyunsik tend to belt.
I think that between 2019 and 2021 all the members of BtoB we’re doing their military service except for Peniel since he is an American born in Chicago, IL.
BTOB had military hiatus from 2018-2021. That's why you noticed that there is no release from 2019-2021. During those times the members mostly did solo releases. They actually formed a sub-unit called BTOB4U after the older members (Eunkwang, Changsub and Minhyuk) completed their military services. Peniel (buzzcut rapper) doesn't have to go to military since he is an american citizen. So, during 2020-20121only 4 members are active. They also participated in Kingdom. The youngest members (Hyunsik and Sungjae) served in military from 2020 to 2021. Then they finally released full album to celebrate their 10th year anniversary in 2022. BTOB4U era is also very fun if you want to check them out.
I will definitely get into their songs more to see if I really like them... being a musician myself I am curious what else they do with those six great voices
Thank you for the reaction! They have a lot more melodic and ballad songs than, say, stray kids. If you want the fun or stronger side I'd recommend songs like Movie, Higher, Whiskey, BeepBeep, Show and Prove. They have a wide range but it's true their bread and butter is melodic and ballad. However seeing your reaction I belive you would vibe a lot more with Minhyuk's solo work (the rapper with bluer shirt) he goes by HUTA . Listen to YA or BOOM. Or with ex-member Ilhoon's She's gone. I'm so happy you liked Sungjae's voice, he does mostly ballads in his solo work. Same with Eunkwang (navy blue sweater) Changsub, the one you didnt like that much, has a lot more to offer in other songs, especially bsides and his solo work, he works a lot more with his low tones. I think that impression of him is down to the song selection. If you like alt rock ir rock ballad I'd recommend Hyunsik work. He's the one in white with tie. Amazing reaction btw, very detailed. I enjoyed it. Btw if you want more rawness and power, I can recommend former BtoB's best friends in the industry, BAP. Sadly, disbanded in 2018 but they left a fantastic body of work. I do think without them groups like Monsta X and Stray Kids wouldn't exist. BTOBAP's chaos behind the scenes in the music shows dressing rooms was legendary. Noisiest combo ever. Songs like One Shot, Wake me up, debut Warrior, Coma (live version), Skydive are very powerful and fun. Its so fun how BtoB's music make people think they are serious but they are just unhinged dorks who happen to be extremely good singers and musicians. Thank you! Looking forward to more reactions.

BTOB debuted in 2012 and they have made and sung so many songs together that they already know whose voice will be doing this part or that. Reason why their songs in KV started from long ago then suddenly a lot from 2022 and this year. It's because they started enlisting one by one from 2018 and ended in 2021. So for a long time they weren't able to make full group albums and were only able to make a comeback and new album as a full group in 2022, after a 4 yr military hiatus. The guy who seemed to have that high voice that you're not fond of is Changsub..actually a really good vocalist and known to be the intro fairy coz his voice suits soft and breathy intros. He sings that high but can also sing so low and husky as his voice fits that of a rocker when he wants to. Same with the the other guy who also sings high (the one in navy blue) named Eunkwang who's also the oldest and the leader. He also has a high voice and is one of the best vocalists in kpop. In fact, Changsub and Eunkwang are both famous musical actors. The one whose voice you really liked was the youngest/maknae , Sungjae. He really has a unique emotional voice and can belt so well. He is also a good actor and has done lots of kdramas..the latest one was last year with THE GOLDEN SPOON, where he played the lead role and won a Best Actor award. I respect your preferences. But in general, changsub is the most well-known in korea (even by non-fans) to have the best voice tone. Eunkwang is rly well-known by his vocal technique. Hyunsik is well known for his vocal range. Sungjae is well known for his emotional and "mature" voice that contrasts with his age (he's the youngest) :) eunkwang and changsub are both musical actors (which is when changsub uses more lower register). Hyunsik and minhyuk are the composers of the group. The reason killing voice has more recent songs is cuz most of their old songs (2012-2014) are not ballads n its more hiphop/pop (early 2010s kpop boy group trend). Even tho ppl nowadays think they r just a ballad group, they used to do acrobatics n stuff. At this point they were not super well-known in korea and it was only after they started shifting to ballad type songs (and starting promoting more as vocally strong group) they got their first win at the music show (4 yrs after their debut in 2012). So i think they chose more recent songs to best reflect the group's current identity as vocal powerhouse. Even in kingdom, they did consider performing songs that r more tough, kinda like straykids n other 4th gen idols's style that u seem to prefer. But, they ended up choosing ballad-y songs becuz they wanted ppl to think "as expected from btob" more than "wow btob can do this (ex. Other genres, more powerful dance, etc.) too?" Fans think the latter is better for attracting new fans. But, btob has been doing music for 11 yrs now n while its good to show new ppl who don't know btob that they can be tough/dark/dance heavy too, they said they wanted to remind ppl who are already familiar with them what they r the best known for (live singing + vocal powerhouse) cuz the group was on hiatus for 4 yrs (even tho they did unit/solo stuff) due to military service n ppl couldn've forgotten abt them due to the rise of new 4th gen groups. During military service, he got a lot of advice from musical actors in military band and decided to change is vocalization technique. This actually lowered his vocal range but also made his voice stronger and more powerful. But he can't rly showcase this in btob songs because they already have two members with deeper voices (hyunsik and sungjae). Hyunsik can sing rly rly low and usually does base during harmonization. Because there's 4 vocalist members and 2 are more suited for the lower ranges, eunkwang and changsub sings higher-register so the song sounds more fuller. But, when he's dueting with eunkwang, changsub usually sings in a lower voice to complement eunkwang's higher voice.
I have been a melody for years and for 4 to 5 years i have been watching btob reaction videos. This is the first time seeing someone didnt like changsub's voice im in shock 😂
for what I hear sentimental songs for you is more about if you can feel pity for the singer or not and probably you can feel it more for woman. BTOB sentimental songs are more about if you can relate with the feeling or appreciate the voice. For what you said honestly if you didn't liked the Killing voice, probably won't like the full versions either, just not your cup of tea I guess.
Its not about pity in any way. ... it's a fundamental attachment to a female voice that gets me every time... I compared V's "Rainy Days" to Danielle from NewJeans' cover of it.... Both are great. V gives it a different meaning for me. He has an awesome voice, very outstanding... but I find myself listening to Danielle's version more often. There is a special tone in a female voice for me that just touches me. I've made music since I was eleven, and I have played and sang with lots of other singer/songwriters.... but I always felt more comfortable when the other person was a girl/woman. It's a preference and as I said - not about pity in any way. I got here to this killing voice because I liked the MV and song 'I'll be your man" ... I was looking at the Stray Kids cover and was directed to the MV. I really liked it and wanted to see more. And these songs here are 30 sec snippets... A song for me needs to be listened to as a whole. Thats why I will take a look at more BTOB MVs and maybe come to like them. Just because one out of six was not my style doesn't mean I wouldn't like the rest.... and ppl already told me that Changsub is way more varied in other songs.
In the end I think its not about "beating" the vocals of anybody but how a voice touches you... Kurt Cobain was - skill wise - not good, off pitch, scruffy.... BUT he touched billions of people with what he did.

Hello! I liked your reaction to BtoB, mainly because it was honest. My father used to say "what would blue be if everyone liked yellow". It's the differences that make the world fun. I don't like girl groups, there are some songs that may please me, but they don't captivate me like boy groups. I’m like you. At first it is so strange to listen to changsub and eunkwang’s vocal tone. It is so different and sungjae’s tone is my type. But as i keep on listening to them, their vocal talent and skills is undeniably showing. For me, their falsetto is the best. Look up eunkwang’s FATE with kim kitae as well.
Interesting about the girl/boy voice thing. And I completely agree! I honestly can't stand most female voices and they simply don't move me even if I can appreciate their quality. So I've never bothered with girl groups anywhere in the world. But male voices do, they touch my heart more. I also like opposites, so I prefer male voices that have a higher register and female voices that have a very low register (my fave female voice ever is Toni Braxton). But my fave voices altogether are all male voices. So while we may not share the same opinion about BtoB, I completely agree with your sentiments regarding what voice impacts you.

I kinda think group music rarely shows Changusb's full versatility/appeal (same for Sungjae, honestly). he's developed a solid lower register, plus he's 100% capable of singing with fullness - we just don't hear it in BTOB songs. I need to feel something in a voice. That is very subjective and hard to explain. I like all kinds of voices but if I don't feel it I don't like it. Even tho BTOB songs are not like the top groups today, you end up liking most of them, light and nice songs. Or even enjoying just for themselves, a really lovely group to watch not just performing but participating in variety shows, definitely should check out some Funny compilations lol

Try to listen to changsubs amazarashi cover “the reason i thought i’d die”. No falsetto in there just raw voice. In the group it is his role to sing falsetto along with eunkwang for adlibs.
I think to understand their evolution as musicans you need to check out their early songs. When they started their "ballad era" many said it will be a fail since groups like B.A.P and Bangtan Boys (now BTS) came up with the shall I say "gangster style" I dunno. But it fact it was a hit. BtoB became legend with their first ballad song. They were the last group I liked. With the new generation I totally lost my fun with Kpop. I only check now and then the new releases of long term groups I used to like. And first generation group Shinhwa which always had the fun trying out sth else not following the flow. Longest still active and being together group. And only newer group Forestella. So it is all about taste. And nobody should feel wrong about the taste of others. I, even as somehow Melody (never counted myself to any fandom), didn't like the Killing voice from BtoB much. I never loose the feeling they still want to prove their talents which is not needed. Love the Infinite Killing voice way more. They just have fun, singing old songs, just like they know they don't need to prove themselves anymore. So if you want to check out BtoB more I think you will see how special they are. The Killing voice doesn't show that in the way Melodies witness and love since their debut. They are amazingly funny, talented with great music. For the high pitched voices. In South Korea and for many fans it counts as highly talented when they can hit them. I agree with you that it does not sound good in many ears. But now the question of the question. When I am like you why is Changsub (your last liked) my fave singer in BtoB. He did many cover on his radio show so I know how he can play with his voice. But it took me a time to understand that. Or let's say listen to his voice in different songs. But I liked them so it is natural that I digged deeper.
Oh first time from a reactor that consider Changsub as the least favorite/like. Understandable. Because i myself changes favorites in every BTOB songs. But for solo stuffs of the vocalists line (sub-unit called BTOB BLUE) my least favorite is Eunkwang's, the very main vocalist in BTOB 3rd from the left lol (im sorry Eunkwang you're on my last but i love you). Changsub and Hyunsik solos are my most favorite, both are good in rock ballads or rock or alternative rock. Sungjae is consistent at my middle fave while the others changes. If you want to hear Changsub low register you can listen to BTOB Finale Show and Prove intro from Mnet Kingdom. Changsub and Eunkwang are assigned for high notes and tenor and Changsub is a 2nd tenor. Changsub is called vocal gangster and he is i believe the highest among BTOB BLUE for favorite list in Korea with a unique vocal tone. He even also have the position as intro-fairy because of his voice quality. The members even said Changsub should took good care of his voice. He is a musical actor like Eunkwang and is a CEO of his own music vocal center and also he teaches trainers as far as i know. My sister loves Changsub's voice sm. Hope in due time learning about BTOB you could appreciate Changsub vocal tone more. Eunkwang is just very skilled well-trained and good technique and even if he is already best on his own, he still went to vocal lesson because he wants to be the best than he is that's why i think he is perfect. Hyunsik and Sungjae are assigned for baritone and low voices. Hyunsik however has a crazy vocal ranges he can be a bass or baritone and he can go higher than imaginable. Sungjae voice sound mature and emotional for me and his solo stuffs don't make me feel sleepy yet it make me feel so relax that's why he's my middle on my favorite. As for a group stuffs, it changes. Peniel (rapper 1st from right) is always who i anticipated followed by Eunkwang and Changsub. Ilhoon which is no longer in BTOB was also my favorite and i love his unique voice tone, also my favorite. Minhyuk (first from left) aggressive rap is also my favorite and the man can actually sing. He can be an idol group of his own. His rap and his singing vocal tones are different. Peniel, as i mentioned, is always i anticipated in general for BTOB songs. I love his bright rap and poetic lines. Among the rappers they changes on my list. (Edit) PS: Since a lot have told you most of the songs in Killing voice are members' self produce-compose, you could check out how their producer members will be in the recording studio to direct and record the members. Maybe you could understand more why this or that member has to sing like this or that.

I will check out the songs I liked here and take a look at the MVs ... some of the comments here told me that Changsub is more varied on other songs, so I might have just gotten a different impression here. I will see where this takes me. I really liked the song/mv I'll be your man. It was fun, good, well written... This is how I actually got here to this. So I'm gonna give these guys a chance.
All in all it was just a bit too high for my liking. But as I said - the guy in the dark shirt had a similar pitch/height but I liked him better. there is something about the tone.... I have never liked guys singing too high with a soft voice. If a guy goes high I like him to belt it out. And one thing I never got into was the falsetto singing of men. I very much disliked most of the BeeGees songs for that, even though they were considered amazing vocalists. I like COLDE's voice for example... I will dive deeper into BTOB though, just to see them a bit more....
Well i understand what you mean abt changsub's voice He does sing in a very high peach cause his natural voice is already high peached so its inevitable that he sings in high tones Hyunsik and Sungjae(which is the two you liked) is baritone and changsub is tenor they have to sound different Plus changsub does take most of the high position in btob songs so it would seem he only plays in that pool Though changsub can go real low if you check out finale, you can hear him in baritone octaves cause team's baritone s was enlisted at the time Also abt minhyuk having more harsh tone I do feel that often too tho thats the part I like abt him😂 It feels refreshing for me If you like hyunsik and sungjae's voice you really should try more of them Especially hyunsik since he writes most of btob's songs and has released his own album which is Amazing P.s. I would recommend you to listen to Wow, Beep Beep, You are so fly, blowing up, thriller, movie and lover boy. BTOB has lot of upbeat songs the kind of songs you like. Here they were just singing their vocal heavy songs. Obviously becoz this program is about vocals.

I have to say in all the years I've been listening to BTOB, you are the FIRST person I've ever heard say they didn't like Chabgsub's voice. But then when you compared them to Boys to Men at the beginning I questioned your sanity. Sorry, but I'm just giving you my honest reaction.
In the meantime I have heard many BTOB fans comparing their early songs to Boys to Men.... But questioning my sanity ... I don't know. OMG so we're diving into BTOB? It's my first time seeing all the members, and I enjoyed this a lot too, they all can SING sing!! (also Minhyuk is giving me Lee Know older brother vibes with those crazy visuals) On a side note, I'm praying SKZ gets invited to Killing Voice too! The closest we got recently were The First Takes, but a full set like this would be awesome!
@@StaysSlay Yeah it's still a solid lineup but ilhoon as the main rapper was important to the group. You should check out their ot7 content. The first part of the killing voice were they do missing you. Minhyuk raps ilhoons part even though he himself has a great verse. The part were peniel messed up the lyrics is also ilhoons. I'm sure the members left on good terms since after he got kicked out peniel and changsub held up a 7 in support during a concert. Also they already renewed their contracts together and if you watch their interactions they had a good bond.. Ilhoon left the industry on horrible terms since he got arrested for weed and I think the original sentencing was 3 years. Through appeals his sentence got shortened to it think like 8 or 9 months. All the stuff went down during his military hiatus. I'm sure you know btob of kingdom. That's like a couple months after he got kicked out
Interesting input. I like all of them, especially as a combo. Cube Ent. did well in putting them together back then. Their harmonies are my favorite. Now, considering personal favorites, I would have to say that Im Hyun Sik ( white shirt, black pants, and tie) and Yook Sung Jae ( your favorite voice ) are my two favorites. They always pull at my emotional strings when singing. In general, BtoB is a group that emotionally wrecks me with their ballads. Every time they have a comeback I have to mentally and emotionally prepare.
I would like to recommend you to listen to sungjae’s solo. I totally get what you mean. He has a great voice - I'm not saying anything bad - I'm just honest and say that it just didn't touch me that much. I liked the "rawness" of Sungjae's voice more. When I want to hear a nice high voice - I listen to a female singer. I have never really liked male voices that sang too much falsetto .. high pitches. But that is in the end preference. As I said - I will look into their songs a bit more, maybe I will change my mind and they will grow on me. I like Stray Kids a lot - but they have more of a toughness, roughness.... which I like.

If you're a fan of Stray Kids's music I don't think BTOB is your cup of tea. They are almost polar opposite. BTOB is more instrumental in their sounds, focus on melodies, hence why it's natural for them to always have live band in their concerts. Their songs lean towards old school, mostly old-school RnB, but also a bit rock implements. For me, they're a mix of Boyz II Men, NSYNC, Westlife, Backstreet Boys type of group. The rap-style is more melodic and unique. They have many OST-like songs, healing-songs and ofc their biggest hits are ballads, etc. They have a big variety in their discography, so I'm sure there's something for everyone.
Music is subjective, but technically, Changsub has a phenomenal voice and vocal tone (so does the rest of BTOB tbh, they learn from each other) I'm sure you'll appreciate him more if you check them out more, but a preference is a subjective choice anyway, nothing to argue about. I would suggest BTOB - Show and Prove if you'd like a lower register from Changsub. Anyway, their latest 2 albums are really good and all songs are self-composed so maybe check those songs out next?
Although, Thriller is their darkest concept, maybe you like it. Higher from Be Together album is also an awesome rock song, especially live in these University festivals they've been going too!! (I hope they do more rock, it fits their vocals!). Thanks for the reaction!

Melody, let’s just love our boys on our own. We are one of the most respectful and polite fandom I know, you don’t really have to explain to every reactors or try to defend BTOB’s music in any way. They (reactors) have their own preferences just like we do, the reason our fandom exist. If others happen to not like or doesn’t suit their style of music to which what our boys been producing, we let them be and moved on. No need to explain, convince or defend, just like what they (reactors) are saying we respect each other’s opinion. We do not need to spend energy on petty comments. We know our boys for so long, we like and love each one of them and how unique they are from other groups. Lastly, let us focus on welcoming those have the same appreciation to BTOB like us (melody). I agree his voice might be different but Changsub's voice is one of the rarest in the industry. Hello thank you for your reaction. I appreciate your honesty, and yes I do agree that you should listen to the songs in full version. The reason that Minhyuk's (the first guy from the left) rap in the songs are mostly agressive is because his part in the song is usually in the climax, wherein the lyrics became aggressive or desperate. Also, I would like to recommend Changsub's (the second one from the right) cover of Amazarashi. His low tone is so beautiful and I think you should here it!❤

BTOB debuted in 2012, so they are a long lasting group. I think they have chosen recent songs to perform. Why there are gaps in years is because the elder 3 were in military service, and after the younger members went to military. When they were on the show Kingdom: Legendary War, only elder 3 members + Peniel who is an American were on the show. They have also released albums and were on KCON etc. quite active as 4 member group. In 2022 they all came back together. (Actually one member has left the group in 2020.) The song you liked “Wind and Wish” their latest comeback song, is called “Param” in Korean which means wind as well as wish. This is my personal impression of the song but the members are singing this song in thoughts of the member who has left the group. This song gives me a happy feeling and I really love this song. Changsub, the voice you said you like the least, has always been assigned to btob's higher register parts. But i swear he can go low as well and he can have grit and rasp into his singing. He's a musical actor as well and he has his solo songs if you would want to explore more into his voice.

Talking about favourite voice, for me the first place is Yook Sungjae (the guy which you like his voice) and 2nd is Lee Changsub (the guy which you like the least). Actually, the last song (Finale: Our Concert) is their b side song on Brother Act album. They usually sing it in the end of their concert. But in their last concert in 2022, it become their opening song.
Their song are really diverse and almost their songs, especially after 2017, are composed by members.

Yes, thank you, I didn't like him here that much... that doesn't mean I won't like him in general - but I will listen to the full songs and watch the MVs. The group as a group is outstanding. I liked the song "I'll be your man" and even have a reaction on it here... thats how I came to this killing voice episode.
I've discussed the "best voice" thing in a few videos before... I think its not about having the best voice... it has to be a voice that touches you no matter how "good" it is. And that is a very subjective and individual thing for every person that listens. I don't want to be that reactor that says YEAH to everything just to get the views... I'm a musician and tend to look at things from a different viewpoint. For example - Kurt Cobain from Nirvana probably had one of the "worst" cracked up unskilled voices in the industry .... but he touched billions of people with it because he transported something deep with it. I liked him too. I like V from BTS, Han from Stray Kids even though he is also rather high pitched here and there. Some ppl say the BeeGees had superb voices ... I can't listen to them at all.

btob is one of the few boy idol groups that can enter the Korean music charts. It is very rare for a boy group to enter the top charts in Korea.

So just because I didn't connect with Changsub here doesn't mean I won't take a look into their music any more. I really liked I'll be your man - I reacted to the MV and was impressed. I will now maybe go back and rewatch it to see where Changsub was there and what I thought then....
This Killing Voice was meant to be 2022, but the members got COVID so it was delayed until 2023. Your opinion is very welcome to melody. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I love mellow, melodic, and mature music. I really like well trained vocals and falsetto. It's why I'm not a fan of Stray Kids, even though I like their off stage stuff. Appreciate that you like music for the opposite reason. Old school, ballads groups are my favs 😊
How good are their harmonies! 11+ years of singing together is a wonderful thing.
They each have their role is the group, we don't often get chest voice or low from Eunkwang or Changsub because those parts are Sungjae and Hyunsiks. But their own music lets them explore their full range. In the group Eunkwang tends to use a chesty mix for nearly everthing, changsub tends to use falsetto, and Sungjae and Hyunsik tend to belt.

BTOB had military hiatus from 2018-2021. That's why you noticed that there is no release from 2019-2021. During those times the members mostly did solo releases. They actually formed a sub-unit called BTOB4U after the older members (Eunkwang, Changsub and Minhyuk) completed their military services. Peniel (buzzcut rapper) doesn't have to go to military since he is an american citizen. So, during 2020-20121only 4 members are active. They also participated in Kingdom. The youngest members (Hyunsik and Sungjae) served in military from 2020 to 2021. Then they finally released full album to celebrate their 10th year anniversary in 2022.
BTOB4U era is also very fun if you want to check them out.
I will definitely get into their songs more to see if I really like them... being a musician myself I am curious what else they do with those six great voices
Thank you for the reaction! They have a lot more melodic and ballad songs than, say, stray kids. If you want the fun or stronger side I'd recommend songs like Movie, Higher, Whiskey, BeepBeep, Show and Prove. They have a wide range but it's true their bread and butter is melodic and ballad.
However seeing your reaction I belive you would vibe a lot more with Minhyuk's solo work (the rapper with bluer shirt) he goes by HUTA . Listen to YA or BOOM.
Or with ex-member Ilhoon's She's gone.
I'm so happy you liked Sungjae's voice, he does mostly ballads in his solo work. Same with Eunkwang (navy blue sweater)
Changsub, the one you didnt like that much, has a lot more to offer in other songs, especially bsides and his solo work, he works a lot more with his low tones. I think that impression of him is down to the song selection.
If you like alt rock ir rock ballad I'd recommend Hyunsik work. He's the one in white with tie.

Btw if you want more rawness and power, I can recommend former BtoB's best friends in the industry, BAP. Sadly, disbanded in 2018 but they left a fantastic body of work. I do think without them groups like Monsta X and Stray Kids wouldn't exist. BTOBAP's chaos behind the scenes in the music shows dressing rooms was legendary. Noisiest combo ever. Songs like One Shot, Wake me up, debut Warrior, Coma (live version), Skydive are very powerful and fun.
Its so fun how BtoB's music make people think they are serious but they are just unhinged dorks who happen to be extremely good singers and musicians.

Thank you for your honest reaction..it's okay to like some songs and voice or to dislike some too. We all have preferences and we appreciate you listening to their Killing Voice. BTOB debuted in 2012 and they have made and sung so many songs together that they already know whose voice will be doing this part or that. Reason why their songs in KV started from long ago then suddenly a lot from 2022 and this year. It's because they started enlisting one by one from 2018 and ended in 2021. So for a long time they weren't able to make full group albums and were only able to make a comeback and new album as a full group in 2022, after a 4 yr military hiatus.
The guy who seemed to have that high voice that you're not fond of is Changsub..actually a really good vocalist and known to be the intro fairy coz his voice suits soft and breathy intros. He sings that high but can also sing so low and husky as his voice fits that of a rocker when he wants to. Same with the the other guy who also sings high (the one in navy blue) named Eunkwang who's also the oldest and the leader. He also has a high voice and is one of the best vocalists in kpop. In fact, Changsub and Eunkwang are both famous musical actors. The one whose voice you really liked was the youngest/maknae , Sungjae. He really has a unique emotional voice and can belt so well. He is also a good actor and has done lots of kdramas..the latest one was last year with THE GOLDEN SPOON, where he played the lead role and won a Best Actor award. Yes, they truly sound so good as a group and not so many kpop groups do this kind of harmonies and style that they do. But individually, they are all gifted singers and can manage on their own. We would appreciate you listening to their full songs coz it's really not the same listening to only snippets on Killing Voice. I respect your preferences. But in general, changsub is the most well-known in korea (even by non-fans) to have the best voice tone. Eunkwang is rly well-known by his vocal technique. Hyunsik is well known for his vocal range. Sungjae is well known for his emotional and "mature" voice that contrasts with his age (he's the youngest) :) eunkwang and changsub are both musical actors (which is when changsub uses more lower register). Hyunsik and minhyuk are the composers of the group. The reason killing voice has more recent songs is cuz most of their old songs (2012-2014) are not ballads n its more hiphop/pop (early 2010s kpop boy group trend). Even tho ppl nowadays think they r just a ballad group, they used to do acrobatics n stuff. At this point they were not super well-known in korea and it was only after they started shifting to ballad type songs (and starting promoting more as vocally strong group) they got their first win at the music show (4 yrs after their debut in 2012). So i think they chose more recent songs to best reflect the group's current identity as vocal powerhouse. Even in kingdom, they did consider performing songs that r more tough, kinda like straykids n other 4th gen idols's style that u seem to prefer. But, they ended up choosing ballad-y songs becuz they wanted ppl to think "as expected from btob" more than "wow btob can do this (ex. Other genres, more powerful dance, etc.) too?" Fans think the latter is better for attracting new fans. But, btob has been doing music for 11 yrs now n while its good to show new ppl who don't know btob that they can be tough/dark/dance heavy too, they said they wanted to remind ppl who are already familiar with them what they r the best known for (live singing + vocal powerhouse) cuz the group was on hiatus for 4 yrs (even tho they did unit/solo stuff) due to military service n ppl couldn've forgotten abt them due to the rise of new 4th gen groups.
Also, if you want to listen to more lower register of changsub, i recommend "the reason i wanted to die" cover or his appearance on lee mujin service on yt. His appearance on mamamoo's solar yt is fun too (he sings mamamoo songs n solar sings btob songs).

During military service, he got a lot of advice from musical actors in military band and decided to change is vocalization technique. This actually lowered his vocal range but also made his voice stronger and more powerful. But he can't rly showcase this in btob songs because they already have two members with deeper voices (hyunsik and sungjae). Hyunsik can sing rly rly low and usually does base during harmonization. Because there's 4 vocalist members and 2 are more suited for the lower ranges, eunkwang and changsub sings higher-register so the song sounds more fuller. But, when he's dueting with eunkwang, changsub usually sings in a lower voice to complement eunkwang's higher voice.

weird opinions to me but everyone has his own preferences, BTOB is a group that is most fit to people that can enjoy powerful and melodic vocals :)
for what I hear sentimental songs for you is more about if you can feel pity for the singer or not and probably you can feel it more for woman. BTOB sentimental songs are more about if you can relate with the feeling or appreciate the voice. For what you said honestly if you didn't liked the Killing voice, probably won't like the full versions either, just not your cup of tea I guess.
Its not about pity in any way. ... it's a fundamental attachment to a female voice that gets me every time... I compared V's "Rainy Days" to Danielle from NewJeans' cover of it.... Both are great. V gives it a different meaning for me. He has an awesome voice, very outstanding... but I find myself listening to Danielle's version more often.
There is a special tone in a female voice for me that just touches me. I've made music since I was eleven, and I have played and sang with lots of other singer/songwriters.... but I always felt more comfortable when the other person was a girl/woman.
It's a preference and as I said - not about pity in any way.
I got here to this killing voice because I liked the MV and song 'I'll be your man" ... I was looking at the Stray Kids cover and was directed to the MV.
I really liked it and wanted to see more. And these songs here are 30 sec snippets... A song for me needs to be listened to as a whole. Thats why I will take a look at more BTOB MVs and maybe come to like them. Just because one out of six was not my style doesn't mean I wouldn't like the rest.... and ppl already told me that Changsub is way more varied in other songs.

Interesting about the girl/boy voice thing. And I completely agree! I honestly can't stand most female voices and they simply don't move me even if I can appreciate their quality. So I've never bothered with girl groups anywhere in the world. But male voices do, they touch my heart more. I also like opposites, so I prefer male voices that have a higher register and female voices that have a very low register (my fave female voice ever is Toni Braxton). But my fave voices altogether are all male voices.
So while we may not share the same opinion about BtoB, I completely agree with your sentiments regarding what voice impacts you.

I kinda think group music rarely shows Changusb's full versatility/appeal (same for Sungjae, honestly). he's developed a solid lower register, plus he's 100% capable of singing with fullness - we just don't hear it in BTOB songs. He does have a naturally high voice though, obviously.

And it is not about "powerfull" and "rough" ... I need to feel something in a voice. That is very subjective and hard to explain. I like all kinds of voices but if I don't feel it I don't like it. For example in western music - to me Beyonce is terrible... the world loves her. I just don't "feel" her...

Try to listen to changsubs amazarashi cover “the reason i thought i’d die”. No falsetto in there just raw voice. In the group it is his role to sing falsetto along with eunkwang for adlibs.
I think to understand their evolution as musicans you need to check out their early songs. When they started their "ballad era" many said it will be a fail since groups like B.A.P and Bangtan Boys (now BTS) came up with the shall I say "gangster style" I dunno. But it fact it was a hit. BtoB became legend with their first ballad song. They were the last group I liked. With the new generation I totally lost my fun with Kpop. I only check now and then the new releases of long term groups I used to like. And first generation group Shinhwa which always had the fun trying out sth else not following the flow. Longest still active and being together group. And only newer group Forestella. So it is all about taste. And nobody should feel wrong about the taste of others. I, even as somehow Melody (never counted myself to any fandom), didn't like the Killing voice from BtoB much. I never loose the feeling they still want to prove their talents which is not needed. Love the Infinite Killing voice way more. They just have fun, singing old songs, just like they know they don't need to prove themselves anymore. So if you want to check out BtoB more I think you will see how special they are. The Killing voice doesn't show that in the way Melodies witness and love since their debut. They are amazingly funny, talented with great music.
For the high pitched voices. In South Korea and for many fans it counts as highly talented when they can hit them. I agree with you that it does not sound good in many ears. But now the question of the question. When I am like you why is Changsub (your last liked) my fave singer in BtoB. He did many cover on his radio show so I know how he can play with his voice. But it took me a time to understand that. Or let's say listen to his voice in different songs. But I liked them so it is natural that I digged deeper.

Oh first time from a reactor that consider Changsub as the least favorite/like. Understandable. Because i myself changes favorites in every BTOB songs. But for solo stuffs of the vocalists line (sub-unit called BTOB BLUE) my least favorite is Eunkwang's, the very main vocalist in BTOB 3rd from the left lol (im sorry Eunkwang you're on my last but i love you). Changsub and Hyunsik solos are my most favorite, both are good in rock ballads or rock or alternative rock. Sungjae is consistent at my middle fave while the others changes. If you want to hear Changsub low register you can listen to BTOB Finale Show and Prove intro from Mnet Kingdom. Changsub and Eunkwang are assigned for high notes and tenor and Changsub is a 2nd tenor. Changsub is called vocal gangster and he is i believe the highest among BTOB BLUE for favorite list in Korea with a unique vocal tone. He even also have the position as intro-fairy because of his voice quality. The members even said Changsub should took good care of his voice. He is a musical actor like Eunkwang and is a CEO of his own music vocal center and also he teaches trainers as far as i know. My sister loves Changsub's voice sm. Hope in due time learning about BTOB you could appreciate Changsub vocal tone more. Eunkwang is just very skilled well-trained and good technique and even if he is already best on his own, he still went to vocal lesson because he wants to be the best than he is that's why i think he is perfect. Hyunsik and Sungjae are assigned for baritone and low voices. Hyunsik however has a crazy vocal ranges he can be a bass or baritone and he can go higher than imaginable. Sungjae voice sound mature and emotional for me and his solo stuffs don't make me feel sleepy yet it make me feel so relax that's why he's my middle on my favorite. As for a group stuffs, it changes. Peniel (rapper 1st from right) is always who i anticipated followed by Eunkwang and Changsub. Ilhoon which is no longer in BTOB was also my favorite and i love his unique voice tone, also my favorite. Minhyuk (first from left) aggressive rap is also my favorite and the man can actually sing. He can be an idol group of his own. His rap and his singing vocal tones are different. Peniel, as i mentioned, is always i anticipated in general for BTOB songs. I love his bright rap and poetic lines. Among the rappers they changes on my list.

Since a lot have told you most of the songs in Killing voice are members' self produce-compose, you could check out how their producer members will be in the recording studio to direct and record the members. Maybe you could understand more why this or that member has to sing like this or that.

I will check out the songs I liked here and take a look at the MVs ... some of the comments here told me that Changsub is more varied on other songs, so I might have just gotten a different impression here. I will see where this takes me. I really liked the song/mv I'll be your man. It was fun, good, well written... This is how I actually got here to this. So I'm gonna give these guys a chance.

All in all it was just a bit too high for my liking. But as I said - the guy in the dark shirt had a similar pitch/height but I liked him better. there is something about the tone.... I have never liked guys singing too high with a soft voice. If a guy goes high I like him to belt it out. And one thing I never got into was the falsetto singing of men. I very much disliked most of the BeeGees songs for that, even though they were considered amazing vocalists.

Well i understand what you mean abt changsub's voice He does sing in a very high peach cause his natural voice is already high peached so its inevitable that he sings in high tones Hyunsik and Sungjae(which is the two you liked) is baritone and changsub is tenor they have to sound different Plus changsub does take most of the high position in btob songs so it would seem he only plays in that pool
Though changsub can go real low if you check out finale, you can hear him in baritone octaves cause team's baritone s was enlisted at the time
Also abt minhyuk having more harsh tone I do feel that often too tho thats the part I like abt him😂 It feels refreshing for me
If you like hyunsik and sungjae's voice you really should try more of them Especially hyunsik since he writes most of btob's songs and has released his own album which is Amazing
P.s. I know it doesn't sound that much, but actually, changsub's voice had gotten A LOT lower since his debut He had vocal nodules and had to change his vocalization I mean he used to sound like baby boy and VERY high peached

I would recommend you to listen to Wow, Beep Beep, You are so fly, blowing up, thriller, movie and lover boy. BTOB has lot of upbeat songs the kind of songs you like. Here they were just singing their vocal heavy songs. Obviously becoz this program is about vocals.

I have to say in all the years I've been listening to BTOB, you are the FIRST person I've ever heard say they didn't like Chabgsub's voice. But then when you compared them to Boys to Men at the beginning I questioned your sanity. Sorry, but I'm just giving you my honest reaction.
In the meantime I have heard many BTOB fans comparing their early songs to Boys to Men.... But questioning my sanity ... I don't know. Just because I don't like the tone of a voice and it doesn't touch me? I bet there are very many voices you don't like that other people love ... should all of them question your sanity too?

It's my first time seeing all the members, and I enjoyed this a lot too, they all can SING sing!! (also Minhyuk is giving me Lee Know older brother vibes with those crazy visuals)
On a side note, I'm praying SKZ gets invited to Killing Voice too! The closest we got recently were The First Takes, but a full set like this would be awesome!
Not sure if you know this but this is the current lineup. They used to be 7 but ilhoon left the group in 2021

@@StaysSlay Yeah it's still a solid lineup but ilhoon as the main rapper was important to the group. You should check out their ot7 content. The first part of the killing voice were they do missing you. Minhyuk raps ilhoons part even though he himself has a great verse. The part were peniel messed up the lyrics is also ilhoons.
I'm sure the members left on good terms since after he got kicked out peniel and changsub held up a 7 in support during a concert. Also they already renewed their contracts together and if you watch their interactions they had a good bond..
Ilhoon left the industry on horrible terms since he got arrested for weed and I think the original sentencing was 3 years. Through appeals his sentence got shortened to it think like 8 or 9 months. All the stuff went down during his military hiatus. I'm sure you know btob of kingdom. That's like a couple months after he got kicked out

Their harmonies are my favorite.
Now, considering personal favorites, I would have to say that Im Hyun Sik ( white shirt, black pants, and tie) and Yook Sung Jae ( your favorite voice ) are my two favorites. They always pull at my emotional strings when singing.
In general, BtoB is a group that emotionally wrecks me with their ballads. Every time they have a comeback I have to mentally and emotionally prepare.
