I am connected with the R.N.L.I. and the fast water flood rescue teams have been deployed up there for some time. I also think a vote of thanks is due to various drivers who got their trains safely through.
A year and a bit on, this is the first time I've seen this. I was on the 08:37 out of Preston, Pendolino City of Birmingham, sorry, don't do numbers, on my way up to Glasgow - never got there, mind! I think it might have been the same train. The Train Manager was called Peter. At Shap there was a landslide in front of us, and trains were backing up and being turned round behind, but this takes time and as the situation became more desperate, it was announced that we would have to go forward. Engineers were sent to clear the landslide and allow us to pass, and also to walk with us through the floody bits to make sure there was no debris on the track. It turned into a boat train making bow waves! The village passed on the right hand side is Brockleymoor. I have in my notes that the train arrived at Carlisle at 14:20. I got off and joined a queue for the coach back to Preston. I've also just recently seen another video of the Shap area taken on the same day. It shows a Pendo standing still on Shap close to a forest. My train spent around 2 hours there, so I'd like to think it was the same one. The picture "just north of Carlisle station" is where I park my car when I visit the city. It's mad to see it like this, seems like you had quite an adventure.

I can relate! Was stuck at Carlisle on Saturday after my NR service home was cancelled due to flooding yet the boards showed on time! Sweet vid

My boss had to cycle through this storm. Our village was cut off but we still had to open the shop. (God knows why we didn't have any fresh food)
Lucky (a miracle) the wires didn't come down, that would have completely stopped everything.
