Well done Matt. Looked like quite an adventure, thanks for sharing it; puts the problem in a different perspective. I am connected with the R.N.L.I. and the fast water flood rescue teams have been deployed up there for some time. I also think a vote of thanks is due to various drivers who got their trains safely through.
The picture "just north of Carlisle station" is where I park my car when I visit the city. It's mad to see it like this, seems like you had quite an adventure.
A year and a bit on, this is the first time I've seen this. I was on the 08:37 out of Preston, Pendolino City of Birmingham, sorry, don't do numbers, on my way up to Glasgow - never got there, mind! I think it might have been the same train. The Train Manager was called Peter. At Shap there was a landslide in front of us, and trains were backing up and being turned round behind, but this takes time and as the situation became more desperate, it was announced that we would have to go forward. Engineers were sent to clear the landslide and allow us to pass, and also to walk with us through the floody bits to make sure there was no debris on the track. It turned into a boat train making bow waves! The village passed on the right hand side is Brockleymoor. I have in my notes that the train arrived at Carlisle at 14:20. I got off and joined a queue for the coach back to Preston. I've also just recently seen another video of the Shap area taken on the same day. It shows a Pendo standing still on Shap close to a forest. My train spent around 2 hours there, so I'd like to think it was the same one. Thank you very much for putting this up - it's really made my day. Happy memories!
@@dedoelmx Yeah, I heard you, mate! This is crazy... Why this train is being still to continue journey going be effect by the electrical system unit became damp on the line?!!! 😧

Glad you got home safely. What a nightmare.
I hope that in the "just north of carlisle station" they had turned off the power the water looks dangerously close to the wires.
jesus wept a uk train running with water on the tracks, it must have been the right kind of rain, only explanation?
WOW that must of been a lot of Water but over all Cool vid:)
Now THAT'S what I call Rolling On The River
What's the beeping noise at 3:37? Any help?
Not sure
+JDB158 Its train manger required by driver or vise versa
it means you are soon arriving in the station I think!
+love five Why does the whole train need to here that!
love five Idiots! Not you people who smoke on trains!
I think this problem happened by a landslide in the oxenholme area.
My boss had to cycle through this storm. Our village was cut off but we still had to open the shop. (God knows why we didn't have any fresh food)
3:07 OMG I never seen a train that late before, the only big Deley I've been on is a 1 hour.
Interesting Sam i
GOSH!!!! YOU WERE LUCKY TO BE HOME THROUGH DAMAGE. PLUS! 8 HOURS ON A TRAIN WOULD YOU SCREAM. IF YOU WOULD! LEAVE A LIKE!
Lucky (a miracle) the wires didn't come down, that would have completely stopped everything.
Don't they run on electric power lines or is it pantographs?
WCML and ECML are both
WOW! How shocking like this train is still running operating to through flooding on the tracks!!!
Did you read the description? The train had no option but to continue further north.
