Really like your Isbell reviews. I know others have said this on other videos, but give Goddamn Lonely Love, Outfit, and Decoration Day a listen. He wrote those in his early 20's when he was with the Drive By Truckers. Some others Trucker's soungs that you might like are Cotton Seed and The Living Bubba. Keep up the good work guys!
Love y’all’s reactions! This song is about small slices of different people’s lives and how they’ve made choices that lead to misery. Even though it seems hard, overall on a “global scale” our lives are Relatively easy because there’s always someone who’s worse off.
This entire album is about him overcoming his addiction. He wrote it in rehab and right after. He actually has a band he plays with (the 400 unit) and they technically aren't on this album because he needed to gain their trust back - I do think some of the members of the band are on the album though. I always view this song as no matter how tragic/bad a day is recognizing your privilege and that life is "relatively easy" compared to "people on a global scale"
