      Times are changing this kind of technology was always way over my budget stuck with IR cameras. Had a few burglaries the police said my IR video was useless in a court room. Now that I have switched over to ColorView the night image is so good the next time they try and break in ill have good video of the guy.

    The purple tint on the grass is not from distant source but a typical IR tint in color mode with IR filter removed. Its most likely an IR light from your DarkFighter.

    Thanks for that very interesting comparison, understandably a little handicapped by the location & the street light, although that can be a typical urban installation problem, of course so not unreasonable. As a more rural installer I would love to see a similarly done starlight level comparison sometime, (perhaps comparing IR with colorvu), but so far I am impressed by the colorvu's performance there, although the shutter speed should have been normalised to the standard 1/25 sec. to give a truer picture - although I know only too well how difficult it is to remember everything! The dynamic range on the colorview looks much better out of the box too, but that might be affected by the longer exposure time. You guy's opinions seem to favour the colorvu which is good to know, so thanks for that.
    I've got a shedload of elderly Hikvision 2032 bullets on my home installation so I'm going to get one or two of these to compare and if they really are that good - to start replacing the 2032s, which to be fair were fantastic when they first came out but are now showing their age. One thing I would have liked to be covered was the mounting. Do you have to use a wall bracket on these or does the axis adjustment allow direct placement on a vertical wall? If a wall bracket has to be used, which one would you recommend? (and does it double as a connector box?..). Sorry for all the questions, but Hikvision are a bit sketchy on such useful information and I've seen a dome/turret camera out there somewhere now that mentioned an axis range that allowed direct placement on a vertical wall.. Good tip on the SD card, BTW - often overlooked as a backup security feature as thieves will probably nick your NVR(s), given the chance.

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi john and thank you for the comments, to be fair its valid , it was reasonably dark there but like you say there was some supplement lighting in the area, I plan to make some more educational videos around this so will make a firm plan , also we do have the wall bracket or back box but you can mount to the wall and adjust as needed yes, 😊

    Ok question for you, I know you pro guys really don’t like the Swann systems but as someone looking for a home setup the google integration appeals to me “google, show me front door” etc. I also like the feature where you can mask certain areas to decrease false movement detection and the search an area for movement feature too, I’m under the impression that these features are to do with the dvr rather than the cameras so my question is can I use these colorvu cameras with the 5mp Swann dvr (4980 I think) or do hikvision do a dvr with the same features? Thanks in advance

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi bikeronnie , actually for a house the swann system will be fine if you want to do it yourself , and a lot use the systems for the kind of integration you mention. Whilst we can get our HIK systems to work in this way , it wouldn’t be as easy to do so , the EZviz range for the consumer market HIK make , does actually integrate into these systems so it may be worth looking at this as an alternative

    I have had the DS-2CD2125FWD-I (which I assume would be considered a powered by dark fighter camera) -- but in any case, I have had much success with changing the exposure of the camera down to 1/3 so that the lens is open longer. I also put the camera in to day mode so the infrared would never turn on.
    Is there any negative to changing the exposure of a camera down to 1/3?
    I figure there must be some negative impact of image quality or something - since most cams are set to 1/30 by default.
    Is there any possibility of damage to the camera/imager by letting in more light?

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Keith, thanks for the comment , quite a few adjust the exposure level and it has good success , in some instances though it can leave horrible contrails behind the moving object when in low light conditions , but if your not seeing that then fantastic , it shouldn’t cause any long term damage unless its looking at direct sunlight , but then again I cant see you doing that either 😊

      Just installed 10 as well in a restaraunt / Nightclub in Bali.
      Our main purpose for choosing these, was over the POS cashiers to identify the color of the cash denominations. Which it does very well. After seeing the overall quality, we will use in many other areas. The adjustable white light, and ability to set a time it comes on/off, is a great option. Once everything is set up I will have these supplemental white lights to turn on during cash outs at the end of night. For 2 reasons. To ensure the areas are well lit, and to remind staff handling cash they are being watched.
      Extremely happy with them. Deep rich color, and far better color images in dark environments. I can see these becoming the industry standard quickly.
      Would like some larger resolutions, a 6-8mp.
      It is a big cam though. We painted them black to blend into the black ceilings.
      1 negative, the mounting collar design is horrible. Very difficult to take apart.

      Manual: You can select the mode as MODE 1, or MODE 2.
      MODE 1 is the default mode that can be applied to both
      indoor conditions, and outdoor conditions. When
      selecting the MODE 1, the IR Light has more obvious
      effects.
      So therefore, any IR light from other cameras (like in the video the purply grass!) is accentuated. I believe Mode 2 lowers that down.

    The colour view is a turret, but as with some of the other new Hikvision turrets, the ColorView has the IR illumination back behind the same glass as the camera lens, so I wonder will it actually end up suffering the same reflection glare that the domes get, once there’s a little bit of contamination on the glass.

    Unless I have done something wrong in my experiment the Colour camera performance shown is very misleading.
    The night time colour camera performance illustrated is with the aid of the IR lighting from the dark fighter camera right beside it. This is why the grass looks purple.
    I tried exactly the same experiment using Dark fighter DS-2CD2386g2-I-2.8MM v Colour DS-2CD2347G1-LU. Whilst the CCD in the colour unit is generally better the night time performance with dark fighter turn off is way worst than your video illustrates.
    Bottom line you can't use colour unit at night without is lights on. This unfortunately advertises it as a vandal target or provokes light pollution annoyance in area which should be normally dark.

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Tim, the Darkfigher model has no IR turned on, the IR was turned off , there is a camera on the building behind that does have the IR on , but I cant turn there off, the image performance is of course improved when using the white light or just having ambient light from the surroundings IE street lights , natural lights etc. the image of course will never be “amazing” when there is no ambient light , so the area is very dark and no white light from the camera, this is what I have said infect and not misleading at all. The colorvu model is one of the best selling ranges now, people buy what is good, the feedback is outstanding and there about to get better. Of course like everything if you have a dark area and don’t want to use the white light then the dark fighter model with IR will be much better ,so its about knowing what is best for the application as always. Many here in the UK use the white light . maybe in your area this is different. I also disagree with it being a vandal target , most see the lights and get deterred from it as they don’t want to be spotted or highlighted in that area. There will always be an exception. To be honest I have not had a report of vandalism yet on them.

  • @Tom-ud2gp

    While I like the idea of the review, it's not useful. The darkfighters would never be used without internal or external IR flooding in this back of factory scenario. I don't care how they perform side by side without the lighting aids. A better test would have been to present the best image that was possible for each camera with assistance. Also, IR is stealthy, white light on colorvu is not. Sorry it's a good vid but only half the story.
