Can you tell me the background, why the UPS have to be charged up to 100% before adding any items to it? Can I use the Self- or Calibration-Test before 100%?

You can use it, no problem. But I don't think the UPS would allow you to do any of these tests. The Calibration Test is meant to re-estimate the runtime of the UPS on battery, and I think the test won't be too accurate if you start at very low battery.
The RJ45 on the back is NOT Ethernet. It's RS232 and APC sells a special cable to connect it to your PC's serial port. The replacement battery needs to fit so check the dimensions of the one you replace it with. It needs to be 12vdc. It should have at least 7 Ah, but that number can be bigger, and a 9 will give you a longer run time. (7Ah is the capacity. It means it will supply 7 amps for one hour, or less amps for longer.)

Is this UPS safe in general? How long have you been using it?
Does it get recognized by Windows automatically as USB battery?
If it is, it should showing a battery icon in the taskbar notification area and be accessible through Additional Power Settings so users can adjust shutdown / hibernate settings to become effective when battery discharges to, let's say, 5 minutes of time left.
I've seen some complaints about SMT UPSes that they can get very hot and bulge the battery before they report: "Oops (pun intended), the UPS battery is dead".
Also, have seen some complaints that APC has messed something up with the plug sockets and they can get loose soon, but that's mostly for Europe targeted APC UPS models.
Thanks for the Comment. Mine is quite safe so far, no fire, no explosion. I trust the APC Brand, as they are one of largest in the UPS business. I have been using it since I rebuilt it in the video, so it has been a bit over a year so far, which for an UPS is not a long time, but this unit is quite a bit old than 1 year old.
For Windows 10, Yes. Plug in the USB, it recognized it as a Battery with no setup required. Don't need the APC Software. Windows looks just like a battery on a laptop.
I don't think you can set it to do certain tasks when there is 5 minutes left, and I would recommend against it, since the minute reading may not be correct at all time, it is Lead Acid Batteries after all. You can set up Windows to do actions when you have some % battery left. But keep in mind, because it is Lead Acid Battery, not some Lithium-ion Battery, the estimation time remaining and battery percentage can jump around and fluctuate quite a bit. (I have seen up to 10% in jumps) I usually use it only as an inaccurate reference.
My unit doesn't seem to have any issue yet. It is quite cool as well, no idea how they would get really hot. There are no fans inside, so there shouldn't be a fan malfunction. It's been a year since I started using mine, no issues so far.
I haven't experienced the sockets getting loose, and I don't really plug/unplug anything frequently, so...

Hi, does this UPS have active cooling? If yes, do you know the size of the fan?
I believe it is passively cooled. At least for the 750 VA model. Not sure if you go up to something at multiple thousands VA.

You are correct. All models under 1400VA are passively cooled according to the info I was able to find.
So, I went with a SMT1500IC after discovering this.

@@HotelGolf82 You are welcome. As I imagine, if you go into the Kilowatts range, you probably need some cooling.
Power Kingdom PS7-12 datasheet does not mention this battery as high rate or high discharge current which are suited for UPSs. I would avoid this battery for UPS application. Next time choose Panasonic 9Ah UP-PW1245 or CSB HRL1234W or Yuasa ...
