    One safety tip - if you're testing or calibrating it's best to leave the supply plugged in to an outlet with the switch off. This disconnects the supply but importantly leaves the earth connected. By removing the plug you are also removing the earth connection.

      Between live when outputting on battery back up and mains earth will give you 0 volts. Bit like how a shaver point works for safety idea. So having an earth connected makes no difference. In fact it’s safer to have it unplugged as relying on the isolator on the socket it could be faulty though if likely agree it’s slim. Also most socket switches are single pole only breaking the line.

    Apparently you can turn off the beeping
    "The UPS switches to battery operation automatically if the utility power fails. While running on battery, an alarm beeps four times every 30 seconds. Press the button to silence this alarm. If the utility power does not return, the UPS continues to supply power to the connected equipment until the battery is fully discharged. "

    The batteries in that unit are hot-swappable once you pull the battery disconnect plug out of the back. No need to turn anything off or even take it off the shelf.

    A hardware CPU recalibrate need at least 30% of constantly load (no more than +-5% fluctuation -this is very important-) until battery dies.
    Excellent tutorial! thanks!!

      I don't see why anyone wouldn't invest in decent batteries for a piece of critical equipment like this. There isn't even much price difference between these and generic cheap Chinese brands.
      Thanks for the feedback! :)

      Have you got the battery connector installed at the rear? Do you have some cells/batteries installed, too?
      If not connected to the mains, you may have to hold the power button down for a few seconds until the unit begins to beep, then release it to power-on without utility power.
      Hope this helps!

    Wow, where abouts are you in the UK, that input voltage is high! Mine is usually between 229-240 volts, with the highest I've seen of 243.

      I'm located North-West - Near Manchester/Liverpool.
      I live close-ish to a large substation / transformer site which is probably one of the reasons for the high input voltage.
      During the early hours at off-peak times the voltage often rises as high as 254 volts and the UPS units over voltage protection begins to kick in and out.

    What the software you used to calibrate this ups..?

    • @NathanPH
      @NathanPH  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, The calibration can be done without any software by simply connecting a load and running the batteries down from 100% until the unit powers itself off as I do in this video. The software I used to look at the details within the UPS is APC's own 'Power Chute' utility.
