The Island, as beautiful as you will find anywhere in the world, photographed with skill and with a sensitivity that shows a love of our beloved Wight.
Can't watch the first few minutes of this without getting a big lump in my throat and my eyes welling up! My favourite place on earth. Miss and love you IOW. I will get back to you some day.
As an Isle of Wighter myself, I really enjoyed your pictures. Great colours and the lightning ones are quite special. Thanks for sharing. Give me another 20 years and I might be upto your standard.
This little gem is where I spent my youth, came of age and experienced my first romance. I left there 50 years ago to seek my fortune in the big cities, but I will always love and remember "my" island.
Oh this is so beautiful, you have captured everything magical about Isle of Wight. I lived there years ago, and visit when I can, part of my heart will always be there. Your slide show has tears rolling down my face as you bring back very dear memories. Thankyou X
I absaloutley love the Isle of wight. Have been for the last 3 years in spring and it is so beautiful, Especially in spring time. Im actually Leaving on a ferry to the Isle of wight on April the 7th for a two week holiday with all the family. After watching this for the first time last night I am definetly looking forward to our stay. The weather is always beautiful and the lovely sunny beaches are just Extrodianary. For this is one of the most haunted islands in the world. Its is so beautiful.
***** I hope you get to live there, too. We've been looking all over for the ideal place to live in England and this wonderful place takes priority. Looking at houses tomorrow!
BeachComber1977 go for it, i hope u have found a home. a few years for me yet, kids, finance etc, but will DEFINETLY be moving there in the future. see you there :)
Wow, what a stunning video! The music fit perfectly with the photograph's, which were amazing. I go to the Isle of Wight on holiday every year, and absolutely love it there...fab video!
Astounding. Some of those images are just magical - a bit like they have been taken in Middle-Earth ("May It Be" connection)... I can't believe some of the colours are natural. Keep up the great work! Well done.
Island boy through and through. moved away, but this really is brilliant and has really got me in the mood to return after my exams this summer. Thank you friend!
This is just STUNNING and I can personally vouch for the fact that the Island is visually breathtaking :) LOVE the Enya track ( is it the Danny Elfman influence , I wonder .....)
omg did you take those im going tomorrow with my camera and i want to be a proffesional photographer these pics are unbelievable its so beautiful thanks
Yes, it was Ventnor Revisited. If this is revisited is the original visit on You Tube? I couldn't find it, does it exist? As an aside, I enjoy making and editing video and find that Enya always has something in her back catalog to fit the occassion. The Vangelis piece to adds remarkably to the atmosphere of your show also.
second to that 999. would love to retire here at least, or before my child starts junior school. would b nice to bring my child up in a place where i loved visiting when i was a kid
Thanks for you comments! I am in the process of getting a new movie maker, once i have it i will get to work on creating a new movie with all the shots i have taken over the summer. :-)
after 3 hours i will go there to work at wight salads:)i'm from romania,i'm student and i didnt know that isle of wight is so beautiful.how is weather there in the winter?:D
eek! apologies a thousand-fold - i truly didn't mean to start slanging matches. i love photos like 755, 986, 644, 867, z1216, z1221...just wondered aloud if you would consider putting shots like these into another slide show? the isle of wight as i know it. thanks for your wise comments philmex!
Thanks for your comment :-) The moon at 5:15 indeed isnt as it should be, it was due to me doing a double exposure in the camera, one for the moon,, the other for the scene, then the camera overlays the first image onto the second. The good thing about multi exposures is that they have been done for decades using film, and nowadays digital, and the method is pretty much exactly the same :-)
Beautiful pictures ,When i got the money to buy my own place the iow is the only place i want to live ,the enya track suits the pictures perfect what was the name of the enya track
Hiya-I just posted a video response to your amazing video of our lovely island. I was born here and am so lucky. As you can see/hear I made a vid of this great Enya song and thought you might like to hear a 'home grown version' :D Hollyx
Thanks for your comments people! Just thought i should let you know that the website at the end of the slideshow has changed to islandvisions . co . uk
Not to mention the wonders of newport and ryde high street on a weekend. If your 20 Vinny, and you've never left the island for any prolonged period post the age of 18, you really have no argument as you don't know any better. If you have no intention of leaving, then you are no doubt like the few who stay and end up living for the weekend, of which - the highlight will most probably be bogeys or the balcony.
All of these pics were taken using a polarizer and/or ND filters. Some of these are digital and a lot of them are shot with film which cost loads! Cameras are a Nikon f80 and velvia film, fuji s3, Nikon d80 and a Nikon d2x. The other slideshows were taken with the same bunch of camera's including a Nikon D300. I hope that helps answer your question :-)
Pity me, I live on an island of ashphalt and concrete, buzzing with cars. Might as well be stranded, somewhere on Mars. But there is a place that can rid me of my plight. Tis the Isle of Wight, that's right!
beautiful it may be, but claustrophobic it is more so. So glad I left the island.I return there, but can only handle 3-4 days. Its definately a retirement isle, and this is apparent by the large preportion of 50-90 years olds. This is one of the reasons why it had the nickname gods waiting room. Holidays-yes,brilliant.To live here?Think about it strongly.Theres a reason that it has the highest rate of unemployment in the uk.And why most of the youth there are, or will become drug addicts.
It would be good to have a table of actual facts. I doubt that most young people on the island become drug addicts. There would be a huge outcry about it if that were the case. Also would be interested to know if it really has the highest unemployment. Anyone got any facts?
@nubbleUK I'm 20 from the isle of wight and own my own business so i truly resent your comments, i'm not a drug addict and i don't know anyone who is! The isle of wight festival/bestival are hotspots for drugs, yes but aren't all major music festivals? And maybe it has a high unemployment rate because of major employers leaving or going out of business (Vesta's). That's probably down to narrow minded people like yourself who don't want change and therefore have left the island in the 60's.
@Vinnyiow The reason it has the highest unemployment rates is because the only means of further education you have down their is the astounding 'Isle of Wight College' with its most applied for course being beauty. Also, its not the festivals that result in all the drug usage, it's the fact that the isle of wight is so monumentally dull for anyone over the age of 65, that the most entertaining thing a teen can do is tourniquet a vein and just go to town with a syringe.
Well when your using windows movie maker what can you expect, anyway its not about the movie, its about the photo's and to show the beauty of where i live, anyway, its funny how all the comments have been positive and yours is the only negative one.......you shallow minded tit!

Just been nosing around and found a ghost hunt vid with a surfing photographer called Jamie, is that you?

Yup, Edward Scissor hands indeed! I thought it would go pretty well at the time, im not 100% sure if it does but what the hell! :-)
Pity me, I live on an island of ashphalt and concrete, buzzing with cars.
Might as well be stranded, somewhere on Mars.
But there is a place that can rid me of my plight.
Tis the Isle of Wight, that's right!
I don't suppose it was Steve Gascoigne? He takes beautiful photographs.
i live here:)
i live on the isle of wight :D
Gah! Why has do i have a debate on my slideshow :-(
@nubbleUK I could not agree more.
beautiful it may be, but claustrophobic it is more so.
