As someone who works with people with mental/behavioral issues, thank you for seeing the person beyond the mess and depression. And thank you for helping others see it too. The world needs more people like you Aurikatariina! The place looks great!

As someone who has been (and still is) suffering from severe depression and anxiety over the last few years, it is truly amazing and encouraging to see what you'd do for someone in need. Also the way you talk so respectfully about the person suffering from the different things, whether it'd be depression or anxiety or anything else that can disable you from finding the energy to do everyday things, is truly inspiring. Thank you❤️

I did this for my friend once. She'd developed anxiety and depression and lost control of her house. She's also a cosplayer, which means tons and tons and TONS of tools and materials to make costumes, so it took me literal months to get it all organized. But it was super satisfying work and I had a lot of fun.

My mother suffered from bi-polar disorder and her house would get like this every few months. I would go and clean it every time. I started to feel negative about it and it showed. I wish I could go back in time and have Katarina's attitude about it. Covid took my mother last year at the age of 60. I miss her so much and I wish I could go back and tell her how much I love her and that it's just mess. I hope if you have someone in your life suffering like this that you will take the attitude of cleaning being fun. Miss you so much mommy! 😢

He has been wonderfully supportive, as well as making all of the meals, vacuuming, doing dishes, and taking out trash. Your videos are inspiring me to dig in and deep clean certain areas. I cleaned all of the floors, cleaned out and organized my pantry, and got the kitchen organized again. Next is the inside of the oven! Your energy and attitude are infectious! It is so great that you are doing your part to help people out of a dark time. Best wishes!

The brutal thing is, these people know exactly what state their home is in and have tried a million times to clean it up, but can't manage to do so.
In deep depression, not only the house gets neglected, but also other things like eating properly, brushing the hair or taking a shower. It's common for people in deep depression to not shower for a week.
And they find it disgusting themselves. And their home rubs it under their nose every day, what a failure they are. (they are not, but they feel like one for not being able to maintain their home)
Living with deep depression is a condition that worsens itself by the symptoms it creates. The only proper way out is medical treatment and therapy.

I really love and appreciate what you do. As someone who suffers with mental illnesses and severe back pain and keeping my apartment up is extremely hard. I wish there was an organizing and cleaning company that catered to people with mental and physical disabilities. People just think your nasty and don’t care and it’s not that at all. Your doing so much more for these people then you’ll ever know. Thank you for not judging them.

I'm not sure why this popped into my feed, but thank goodness it did. I've been struggling for quite some time and although not nearly as bad as this apartment, mine was slowly moving in that direction. Before the video had even ended, I marched into my kitchen and thoroughly cleaned one small section of the counter where I could lay out the dozen or so dishes I washed. I'm going to sleep now, but hope that seeing that nice clean corner tomorrow will motivate me to spend another 5-10 minutes cleaning another corner. One step at a time, right?

Thank you so much for helping people suffering from mental health problems and being so kind about it. My StepDad has suffered deep depression ever since my Mom died 14 years ago. I would manage to get him to let me clean about once a year. When I found out he was going away this month I checked that I could come and clean. He’d always said the mess didn’t bother him but this time he said he’d got sick of it. He cleaned his place himself 😁🎉

I had much shame from similar trauma, but I did find cleaning washed away some of that and in time found what I did for me, by cleaning in MY space, cleaning up MY diet and MY home, made my life more mine again.
I believe we can find healing and relearn self care, just do it a bit at a time; collect rubbish a bag at a time, take it out, do a few in sequence and acknowledge how you have showed love and care. Maybe clean a surface at a time - a dining table, a bathroom sink, a bedroom floor... and switch a sweet drink or two for water to help clean the body gently, choose some fruit to snack on a couple of times a day instead of chocolate or chips or cake or biscuits and acknowledge that you have :)
You can do this, each step you take interrupts the cycle.
From little things, big things grow 💜🌼🦋

I've just realised something about how you describe the things in the houses you find; "a succulent surprise," "super moldy, I love it!, "amazing trashes!" Auri, what you are offering here is a form of cognitive therapy technique I have used for other aspects in life previously, to do with esteem etc, and how using negative language can perpetuate negative thoughts and spirals of unhappiness. By not referring to anything in negatives like 'digusting, gross, foul' etc, you are helping to break the cycle of negative thinking for people going through this all over the world. I am on my journey atm cleaning my depression house and this lunchtime I scrubbed fruit fly dirt off a mirror while on break. Instead of thinking about how awful it was that there was fly poop on my neglected mirror, I found myself thinking "Ooh, something I can play with my power paste on!" There was no shame, only curiosity about how easily I might be able to put it right. You did that for me and it means more than I can express. Shame is exhausting, to finally give up a tiny slither of it feels like lifting a huge weight. I hope it keeps happening!
