“Being in a video game but in real life” man, you absolutely got it 100% correct! That was exactly what I had in mind when I started designing FPV combat! About the smoke ignition from our experience we discovered that cutting a few heads from some matches and place them all close to the igniter works great! Thank you guys for the amazing video!!! I loved it!
Great job FPV-Combat! Your laser innovation was the driving inspiration for my adventures into Head-tracking FPV. It’s as close to experience real dogfight as being in a full scale cockpit. We get to fly like TopGun using RC planes! What a great time to be in the RC hobby!
Speaking of “Top Gun” I’d like to see FT do a guns only dogfight between the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F-16 “Aggressor” Viper, with the loser being blown to bits like this!
Matteo and I have had our systems out for months now. Admittedly we are struggling with sales of it despite very admirable price points on both of our systems.
The FPV Combat system featured in this episode: www.videoaerialsystems.com/collections/accessories/products/fpv-combat-standard Or the RC combat system (no FPV required) which was used in the earlier episodes: www.videoaerialsystems.com/collections/accessories/products/a-c-e-%E2%84%A2-micro-combat-system-pwm They both work well and are compatible with each other. Just depends on whether you want an OSD.
I own a Cessna 172 and have been a pilot since I was 18. I got into RC planes just last spring. I got a 15cc gas RC plane that is a lot of fun. Your channel kinda intrigued me into getting me into the hobby.
That was very cool guys, air battles with fireworks are awesome to watch, I cant Imagine flying a plane in one. You guys definitely need more of these. I would buy all the foam board needed for construction, for another battle like that. That wouldn't be a bad idea to sponsor a plane(buy the materials) and you guys battle them in competition and maybe give some kind of small prize?
I hope you take in account that the B-17 was a harder aircraft to take down than most fighters of the time. Of course it could be taken out but only with very well placed shots and in certain places. So, put (if you can work out your smoke bombs) a small smoke bomb in and around the engine narcelles and on the tail and mid-ships. Then put a explosive round to go off when the cockpit and bomb bay is hit. Then up the hit count to maybe twice what a smaller aircraft would have, before the exploding bombs go off. Other than those few comments, I wish I was there to watch when this all comes about!! Well done!!
IF YOU GO TO FLITE FEST YOU NEED TO MAKE A VIDEO OF IT, laser tag is fun and i have been to a few laser tag places before but my fav subject is the world wars and planes... and those two things combined is gonna be EPIC, keep up the great work guys!
That was a very good video! Thanks for sharing! One of my flying buddies a few years ago brought like 6 blue cor flat plate planes to our field and gave them to each of us to complete with motors, servos, speed controls ECT. We took them home and finished making them flight ready and brought them back to fly combat the next week. We put party streamers on the tail and proceeded to have a blast!! We laughed so much, it felt like we did a bunch of sit ups the next day. I still have my plane in the hanger, all it needs is gear, and it will fly again! Some weren’t so lucky. Some crashed and got destroyed!!! 😉
Use the fuse on an intermediate longer lasting fire source. Maybe put the igniter in a bundle of matches that encase the target fuse so they start a burn that’s long enough to light what you want to light. OR use programming (ask the company for an update that make it have a longer damage duration or make a tiny circuit or use a tiny Arduino) to lengthen the short electrical pulse command and use that to command an arc igniter to run for 3 extra seconds instead of the commanded length. Thus you get a longer attempt from the system and potentially a more vigorous one.
Hey David and Josh went back and looked at some of the older stuff I had not seen before cuz I'm new to the Hobby. And I must say my mouth was a gate for the battle footage. And when David got hit I'm sure the neighbors heard me yell out. Awestruck gentleman totally awestruck my face hurts from smiling.
I asked for lazer combat years ago when you were making x wings and tie fighters. And you delivered!!! That was awesome. Now I want to see Snoopy & Red Barron duel !!!!!
Would be great if you could use a pan/tilt head tracked camera for this! Just not sure how you would align the sights if you dont mount the IR emitter to the gimbal. Great video! FPV combat looks amazing!
*drums fingers on chin* I'd love to see a wing-warper style version of that plane lol. Looks similar to an Eindecker. Might be a little complex with regards to the pulley system, but hey, only one servo for roll lol.
wrap the igniter head with match tips. Drop one match head into an Estes rocket nozzle, stick in the igniter and wedge another match head into the nozzle to keep everything secure and snug.
I would like to try strapping a cam and the combat system directly to my goggles for an AR experience. Either as a ground turret or perhaps even with multiple on the ground for AR laser tag.
This takes me back to the annual club air show where we set up a large profile Sub with deck gun and lot's of pyrotechnics and attacking aircraft, If our civil aviation authority seen this today they'd be wetting their pants!.
Suggestion for the final version: If you are doing 3 hit points, The first hit should mess with steering temporarily, Like it already does. The second hit should mess with steering and set off a small smoke bomb in one of the engines or the fuselage. The final hit should set off a larger smoke bomb and wait 2 or 3 seconds before either cutting power to the engines (but only the engines so you can still attempt to land), or detonating an explosive. This is probably a lot more difficult to do, but I think it would enhance the experience a lot! It'll be worth it! It also potently means that you don't lose the plane at the end, and you can probably design it so that you can replace the smoke bombs in-between runs.
Will y'all eventually come out with your own laser tag system, and will you ever be releasing a video of how to install it and pair it with existing fpv systems on your tech channel?
Where can I get this FPV combat stuff? I’ve always wanted to have a dogfight with rc planes WWII style. Such an amazing video and series, so excited to see the results!
Why don't you just use a alternate ignition over the fuse like a small amount of something that burns slow but ignites true it's like lighting a cigar with a Bic versus a torch

That FPV Combat system looks SICK! Great job on the design and development of this product. Definitely interested in trying this out.
That looks awesome, be fun with drones too by the looks
@@DanielSponholz thank you I really appreciate your feedback and support!
Maybe a small ball of steel wool would be good for igniting the smoke bombs, that stuff arcs up really well.

I've been waiting for a real life FPV combat like this, I can't wait 'till this gets big. Love the pyrotechnics, what a rush.

I've never even flown an RC plane, but I just realised my face was sore from smiling so hard, through this whole video.
Amazing stuff.
Just pure fun.

By far the best video so far. Love watching things go BOOM keep up the good work!
Literally all my childhood dreams have come true with what you guys do on this channel!!!

Add strobe lights and sound to simulate the planes firing. They do this in airsoft to simulate muzzle flash.
I'm a LONG time viewer and this was one the the VERY most entertaining!!!!

Me: I'm making a plane and I'm afraid to crash it.
FliteTest: Makes a plane and rejoices in its destruction XD
Foamboard planes take the sting out of the cost and time. Have fun and enjoy this amazing hobby and all it has to offer. :)

@@fpvcombat Sorry for my poor word choice. Thankyou for making it and FT for demoing it!!!!
this is awesome Laser Tag Battle very very very big thumbs up
This is so good I love it thanks
I love your vids especially the laser tag ones. It looks like a battle and it looks so good
Don't worry we have many more laser tag battle to come!!!
WW2 Version?
BIG BOOM 🔥 😆 Awesome destruction. 🔥👍✌️
So cool God bless, hopefully one day I’ll make it out there to flight fest One of these years. 👍 nice Video
Hellooo!!!
Can you please do an A-10 Warthog vs A-10 Warthog dogfight? (The one with the bb machine guns in it?)
That would be SICK!!

Tape some match heads around the fuse and the igniter, bigger flame to light the thicker fuse.

You could probably do a white smoke for contrails in the B-17 battle. Also, maybe one of the health loss penalty could be loss of motor control
No explosions on the b17. Only smoke from the motors for simulated damage. :)
