Thank you Karen! I have had a crazy year and have missed some of your videos - now I have a few on my list to check out because of your recap. I don't know the best way to submit questions - can I do it here? My all-time favorite video of yours is STASHBUSTER 6 -THE NO-FAIL LAYER CAKE METHOD. This one is on my bucket list. However, I know the different block options must finish in different sizes, right? Would you consider a remake of this focusing on one quilt (instead of 3) and review the finishing sizes and how to get all blocks to the same size without losing points and such?
I love the way you work with your stash and scraps! No lyrics, no worrying, Absolutely practical way, breaking down this big and overwhelming process into edible pieces! My sister already made 2 small blankets just being inspired by your engineer-brain (i hope you will understand what i mean😅) approach to quilting! Thank you so much for everything you do!❤
Oh, my heart goes out to you as you deal with TN. I suffered through it for about 4 years. Meds didn't work. I now know why there is a 40 per cent suicide rate. The nearest surgeon willing to operate was a thousand miles away. Then as I was making plans to go, just as quickly as it came on, I went into remission and have had no serious episodes for a couple of years. They call it remission because it could come back any time. I will surely pray that you have a miracle such as mine.
I am one of the many people who drove up the views of your QAYG video. I had watched so many but yours is the only one that makes practical sense to me. The top two videos of last year may have proven we are all trying to use our stashes and scraps!
I'm a subscriber and I'm not even a quilter. But, I love watching what you do. And sometimes your advice is universal for quilters and non-quilters alike. I think that's one accomplishment most people haven't considered. Keep it up in the new year!
I have been one of your subscribers since your early days. I love the way your channel has grown and developed. You are still my go-to person for quilting advice. Tomorrow will be day one of my first Declutter Challenge which I am really excited about! Wishing you a happy and healthy 2024!
Collaborations and dissolutions are difficult. You Maple and Eucalyptus quilt is beautiful and definitely took a lot of work. Here's to 2024!!! I love your channel!!!!!!
I can't believe that you, like me, have the same two obsessions! I have been doing both for around 30 years and realise that if I indulged both as much as I wanted to I would not eat or sleep. Coming to the end of genealogy and ready to start writing up the family lines. But plenty more quilts to be made!
I spent some time today in my sewing room in preparation for the declutter challenge and found surprisingly that I don’t need to do the challenge! I have incorporated your strategies throughout the year. My machines are cleaned and oiled. My work areas are neat and organized. It was a surprise to realize using your tips as I go, has made the start of my year a breeze. I ended up reviewing my project plans and calendared (tentatively) the year. Thank you. You are the best!
I remember watching your videos when you first started, it’s hard to believe it’s only been 5 years that you’ve been doing this. It’s been fun to watch your confidence grow with the channel and lovely to see how far you’ve come. You deserve the success you’ve achieved. 🤞🏻you reach your 400K goal by Valentine’s Day, you don’t have far to go. Hopefully the declutter challenge will bring you enough new subscribers.
Happy 2024! Thank you for all your videos laced with no nonsense common sense and practicality. Not all us can be producers of artistic, perfect quilts and you make it ok. You even encourage us to improve little by little so those scrappy blocks fit together.better. Roll on your 2024 videos!
You have inspired me to start quilting. I’m starting with small projects. My seam ripper is getting a work out but I’m not stopping! Thank you so much!!!
Way to press it out! Your authenticity, your love of quilting, and commitment to giving us a great broadcast really shines 🌟 through. We Appreciate all your hard work
Hi Karen! Been a viewer (and subscriber) since the very beginning of your channel with your very first videos. Thank you for all you do to teach and inspire us quilters everywhere!! ❤ from Austin
Happy New Year! I'm sorry to hear that you and Angie have parted ways. I did wonder why things had gone quiet. It is good for you to get back on track and prioritise yourself. Looking forward to 2024 😊
Mary’s Triangle is used in Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt Indigo Way. The 8 at a time method has been invaluable to me! The blocks have come out perfect. Thank you so much for making a complex block easy.
I've been with you since your very first video and I've enjoyed them all and learned so much. I also appreciate that you are open and honest and share bits and pieces of your "real" life and even share family pictures. My favorite videos have always been on making scrappy quilts. They are fun, but also so practical and useful. Thank you for all your hours of hard work to give us these great videos. I'm sure you'll reach your goal and beyond this year.
This was a very entertaining post thanku. Im so glad none of us are alone in the hobby of sewing which comes with stash piles of supplies. Following this page on fb now. See you there. Im so glad 2024 is here and it doesnt have the word "and" in it. Onward and upward!
I've commented before on that adorable Native Alaskan fabric! Thank you for replying to my inquiry!❤ I can't think why you're beating yourself up on the finished quilt because It's truly the sweetest thing ever!😊
Thank you Karen, it was so interesting to hear your year in review. I had watched all the videos you mentioned and it brought back pleasant memories. Also,I wondered if something happened between you and Angie as neither of you mentioned the other anymore. Thanks for letting us know. Some people are meant to be in our life for a lifetime and others for only a short time but all give us something to treasure. Hope 2024 is very rewarding for you and I’m looking forward to my fourth decluttering.
I looked up the Alentejana quilt pattern and became obsessed with it as it is shown. I bought all the fabrics to try and get the right colors as seen on the pattern front. I purchased fabrics that will read solid, few Thatched and Grunge fabrics from Moda, and Bedrock from Windham. You must have made the pattern sound easy to me, but I had to read it a couple of times, think about for a day or two, read it again, etc. before it began to make sense to me. It seemed so complicated, but I finally figured it out. My daughter always tells me I can do things (computer related) if I try, and she's usually right. I'm 73 so I sort of panic. I have the first five blocks completed and stacked. I'm leaving for five weeks, but this will be the first thing I get back to when we return. I really enjoy your interviews, and everything else you do. Happy New Year, Karen! Your neighbor in Michigan, Marcia
Hi Karen, sorry to hear about your friendship dissolving with Angie. 😢 anyway I am glad you are doing good. Thanks for all your great Karen's circle, tutorials, and Q& A . Awesome information. All the very best in 2024❤🇨🇦😊
Dear Karen, I’m 76 and one would think that at this age there would no longer be such things as ‘girlfriend breakups’ like the high school days. But that just isn’t the case since we are all human. I’ve experienced several breakups myself and they are hard. After all. We have invested our time, internet, hearts into those people and it hurts. Some of my breakups were just in my side when I realized that I just had to let some people go who have been in my life for ever but they were no longer building me up. So I let go. No more birthdays cards, etc. and guess what. They must not have missed those things from me as I’ve heard nothing from them which proves that I was the one making the effort to hold on. Other breakup did hurt but seem to have been repaired. I’m trying to remain positive that everything will be ok moving forward but honestly, we are the same people so it may be just a temporary fix. If so, then I have to just have the confidence that my Lord knows who is best for me to have in my life and He takes care of it. The pain passes after a breakup but we can’t allow it to taint the good memories. Good for you in just picking yourself up and moving in.
I'm so sorry your relationship degraded during Maple and Eucalyptus. You're such a pro I never even noticed. That must have been hard. I love your videos and I love our stitch n chats when I'm able to join. You've taken something you love and made a career out of it and that's just awesome. I truly admire you and how you've handled stuff. Best wishes and sincere prayers for a good 2024. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for guiding me along my first few years of quilting. You are always inspiring and a joy to watch. Many blessings to you and your family in 2024!
About your jaw pain... I had jaw pain back in April. It was accompanied pain on the back of my arms, across my chest from shoulder to shoulder, and "out of the blue" vomiting. My systolic BP was 197. Don't remember the diastolic number. Turns out it was an immediate pre-cursor to a fully blocked artery that required a stent. Not all heart attacks are the classic clutching-your-chest heart attacks that you see in the movies, especially in women. Please take care of yourself and listen to your body if you have odd pain "for no reason". Like with me, it was a signal of something worse. Now, back to quilting... I L O V E your channel.
It's such a pleasure to be part of your subscribers. So enjoy each of your videos. Thank you for your efforts to bring quilting to each of us. May 2024 be the best so far.
I love your style Karen. Self reflection keeps us on track and I applaud you for setting such a great example, I’m on holidays this Jan/Feb so I did my decluttering before I left by following your 2023 video. I’m enjoying watching the 2024 ones now and feeling good that I’m ready to get started once I return home. I plan on joining your online quilting group to continue my quilting journey with you as I started quilting with you! I wish you better health and happiness for 2024. Fondest regards 😊
I have enjoyed your no nonsense get-to-the-point style of teaching and communicating. I have introduced your declutter challenge to my quilt guild. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year!!
Such a busy year Karen . Thanks for letting us all tag along. Shame about your parting with Ange and was wondering what had happened. I loved the Maple and Eucalyptus pattern and enjoyed making the cover version and Bananas layout through 100blocks100days2023. This year I will be attempting your Bonkers layout, or a trimmed down version. There are so many parts of the design that stand out, I have do it. Best wishes for a fulfilling 2024.
Thank you for all that you do! I truly enjoy, and look forward to every video you put out. Heres to another fabulous quilting content. Wishing you and your family well.
Just wanted to say that you are my favorite! I watch your scrap videos over and over when I need to relax! Your how to use all your blocks with different layouts video was a favorite for me, as were your quilt-as-you-go videos. Sorry for the hard times this year. Hope 2024 is much better, and I hope I run into you at QuiltCon!
I’ve been watching since many years ago when a crafting friend in Ireland introduced Just Get It Done Quilts to our online group (LettuceCraft formerly Craftster). I signed up for a youtube account to subscribe. Best of luck to you in 2024!
Thank you for your reflections on the year! It has inspired me to do the same, something that I’ve never really desired to do even though my days and life are full of many blessings! And most of all, thank you for your continual inspiration through all you do for the quilting community! In Gratitude!
Thank you for the honesty of the good, bad, and ugly. Not all goes to plan, and though we don’t need the backstory of every 'bad', just admitting it may help us understand some of the mental questions we have. I will miss the Declutter Challenge this year as I travel, but recommend it often to other online quilting peeps. I hope they join in and help you achieve your subscriber goal. Happy New Year and wishing you and yours a 2024 that is only 'good'.
I am missing 8 days during the first 15 of this year's Declutter Challenge so I am doing the 21 days in order during the first 21 days that I am at home. I'll just finish a week or so late. 😉😀
Thank you for helping me with all your good videos, to start and finish my Dresden Plate Quilt for my first granddaughter, who will be born in February 2024. I finished the quilt with hand sewn binding, as per your instructions. So proud of the work. I would love to declutter, but missed on how to sign up for it. Happy New Year!
Karen, you are amazing! I've been sewing for over 60 years, but you are teaching me to quilt! Thank you so very much💖 Wishing you a very Happy and Healthy New Year!🎉
Great to see your 2023 journey. Thanks for being the amazing thoughtful talented honest and inspiring person you are! Congratulations on having the group quilt accepted into quilt con. Here's to a fresh start in 2024.
I’ve been a fan of you since 2018 never miss a video and always give a thumbs up wish you a happy new year and look forward to your new year wish I could go on a cruise retreat with you all the best Donna
You have inspired me to become a better quilter both this year and in 2024. I have signed up for a quilt along that is a year long, I figured this would be less stressful for me. I have signed up for classes to help improve my sewing techniques and expand on them. I am looking forward to what I can learn this up coming year from you. Maybe I will branch out and make it to quilt con this year. Thank you Karen. Have a very Happy New Year’s Day .
I wasn’t around your time- but I’ll get up with you now- 2023 was 3x my time in hospital took me away from your profiles and more- Thanks for your info goodies❤️🥰
You’re always my go to for easy to follow, well explained tips , and sometimes I just watch all the videos one right after another while I’m quilting to hear a friendly voice. Thank you for your inspiration and help ❤
Thanks Karen, from this side of the camera you’ve had a brilliant year, I didn’t notice any of your difficulties - well done you! Take care of yourself. Happy 2024, Vonney, UK
Karen, I have enjoyed your input for years! Thank you for all your practical advice. If you need a place to stay whenever you get down to Australia, I’d be thrilled to host you. Nothing fancy, but cozy and happy to make new friends. I’m a transplant from California and now live near Brisbane, Queensland. I never miss the Brissie quilt show in October! Also a beautiful time of year to come to this region! ❤️ Gale
Thank you, Karen, for sharing a recap of your 2023. I learn so much from your “tips, tricks, and strategies “ as well as your encouragement to try new techniques and use mistakes as learning opportunities. Looking forward to what you share in 2024. Happy new year!
I have been watching your videos since we started lock down in 2020. I for one can see how you have grown as a quilter and mentor Karen! I love your channel and I really hope you reach 400k soon!! Happy New Year!! I cant wait to see whats in store for us in 2024!
The QAYG #1 has inspired me to make my charity quilts this way, as I can’t manage a big quilt on my machine. I have watched it several times! Joining you for the Declutter Challenge. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Karen! I so enjoy your videos. I learn SO many new quilting techniques and some new challenges along the way! I just started decluttering my quilting room and it is so satisfying to organize and get the space ready for new projects! (My husband likened that organizing my quilting room is what he does in our garage and shed for his tools and what not!). Here is to a wonderful 2024!
You have inspired me, helped me on several occasions reorganize and reset. You are my personal go to person when I need to find my sew-jo. Several of my friend and I are planning to be at Quilt Con. I hope you don't mind if I say hello if I am privileged enough to bump into you. ❤
Wishing you a healthy, happy, and prosperous new year. I am excited to see what you have in store for us in 2024. My favorite playlist is the set on understanding color. That will be a re-watch for me in the coming days.
It is none of my business what happened with your friendship with Angie but it does make me curious. Anyway, I totally enjoy your content and am really looking forward to seeing what you are up to this year. Glad your health is better - that jaw thing sounds scary! Big hugs!
Trigeminal Blocks are tough for you! I’m so sorry you went that! Yikes- you got done despite your surprise with your mandible!! I’ll catch up with you ! My goal is to learn more! And Happier New Year!❤

You have inspired me to start quilting. I’m starting with small projects. My seam ripper is getting a work out but I’m not stopping! Thank you so much!!!
I agree that a UFO is the perfect thing to do during the declutter challenge, since it does help declutter your space....
Please more tutorials in 2024! Thank you
Way to press it out!

I was coming here to say exactly this. You beat me to it, beautifully thanking and acknowledging Karen!

Just got into your videos. Thank you. I want to know more about the quilt behind you in this video? Do you have a video on it?
Just wanted to say that you are my favorite! I watch your scrap videos over and over when I need to relax! You have inspired me to become a better quilter both this year and in 2024. I have signed up for a quilt along that is a year long, I figured this would be less stressful for me. I have signed up for classes to help improve my sewing techniques and expand on them.

❤️ Gale

Great looking pattern. I wish I could have seen the quilting and the back fabric.
You have inspired me, helped me on several occasions reorganize and reset. You are my personal go to person when I need to find my sew-jo. Several of my friend and I are planning to be at Quilt Con. I hope you don't mind if I say hello if I am privileged enough to bump into you. ❤
Sure 👍
TY Karen for all that you do! I embrace your ideas!

Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family. Thank you for a wonderful year of quilting.
