I think the issue with the new roadblock battles are the barricades. Not because they're a bad enemy type per say but more because you will ALWAYS have to fight them as these battles only have 2-3 enemy types. They are not fun to fight on repeat encounters and it makes these roadblocks feel like a chore because they will almost always be there. Would benefit from a big guy or just more variety to make them feel less like a boring chore to fight, especially with a team like this one which doesnt handle them particularly well.

@@meowmew- This. The warlord is a welcome surprise when he spawns but overall the general fights need another unit to add variety to the roster.
@@battyflask1340 I would argue a cannon or even bandits taking over the fortification, and in the Tangle you have the Lost Battalion type enemies manning those fortifications.

That was an impressive General's Keep, I was on the edge of my seat
After several years away from YT for like 5 years or more, it would appear my effort to slowly reintroduce myself into it all over again but to also not allow it to ever become an unhealthy addiction like times past so happened to be with good timing. Granted I missed out on a lot, however, Wayne June and Baer know just how to draw you right back on in. DD2 and this DLC is so starkly different from the watching Baer play OG Darkest Dungeon proper yet I'm absorbing this viewing experience to the best of my ability.
For those that never withdrew from TH-cam or Twitch and in following Sir Baer this question may seem like one of Homer Simpson level intelligence but, are Baer and Alyse still happily married and do they play games together like I used to recall? Right around the time period in which "I left YT", Alyse, had to temporarily pause her streaming content after finding employ in her originally chosen field of profession. Back then Stardew Valley was her go-to and Mario Kart 8 with Baer. Yes Pile, it's been THAT long ago! Nonetheless it is feeling somewhat nice to be back. Baer hasn't seemed to have aged hardly anything, and is equally entertaining as remembered.

Only to immediately have it blow up in your face, is tortuous and also comedic gold.

I love that within the first 10 minutes the main plan is established to provide copious amounts of alcohol and romantic books to the Crusader and the Highwayman in the hopes that they will turn gay for one another. Love to see it. XD
If the crusader had truly been a farmer who joined The Crusade, then he wouldn't have that awesome armor and sword. Unless that was somehow already his. The crusaders in this game look like proper knights, who would have all been nobles.
My theory is that he fought so well that he was able to earn enough money, or looted enough booty from the enemy, that he was able to equip himself properly. It's not uncommon for soldiers at that time to profit from the fighting either through looting or pillaging enemy camps and towns.
He actually owned his sword back when he was on his farm. He left his wife and son to participate in some sort of very bloody armed conflict. How exactly he got his armor is left to the imagination. Of the three images we have of Reynauld in the time period when he got his armor, all involve him advancing in a battlefield: the first shows him in his farmer's garb killing some bandit, the second shows him in full plate killing some soldier, and the third shows him walking forward wearing a tabard and holding a banner. When he passed by his farm again, at the head of a sizeable warband, his wife and son were happy to see him come back... but he just turned away and left without a word.

Can anyone please tell me how his guys were healing by killing corpses? Both his highwayman and his crusader did it.

Larval Carrion Eater pet heals when destroying corpses. Gets even better when you use it with the General's 300% corpse damage trophy

Man At Arms and Crusader are very similar ability builds, except MAA can reliably generate Block Tokens and Crusader focuses on damage

Does Penance not hurt the Tangle Priest enemy anymore? That's actually a pretty scary change
I would use larva if it gave 1 stress heal if at 5+ but its just not good in some encounters
Unfortunately the weak link in the usual suspects is Vestal :/ Crusader is great fun though.
Arguably, the weaker links were the paths and skills with little backline damage projection- Rogue highwayman with no ranged skills equipped, Surgeon plague doctor. Too much of a melee focus. Who’s actually taking care of the last 2 enemy ranks? Baer basically handicapped himself.
@@wyomingsioux Oh I meant from my own experience. Vestal just slows down everything even with meta paths.
@@thorinhannahs4614 She's a bit on the weak side. Skill-hungry, mastery-hungry, crippled when she's moved, and her paths just aren't that good at doing what they're supposed to do. Oddly it's as a Wanderer that she's most reliable, she never does anything impressive but she's just solid most of the time. The exception being as a Rank 2 attacker with the Profane Scroll; Hand of Light is very nice as a Wanderer, and the Mace Bash wrecks faces. It's more funny than good, but it's still effective.
@@BigSlimyBlob She is a solid healer with Seraph Mantra otherwise she is just a token/regen bot or subpar everything else. Divine Grace and Ministrations need a lot of work. Grace is too restrictive and Ministrations has to compete with Battlefield Medicine. Maybe allow Ministrations to hit consecrated targets. Too much of her alternate paths are tied to unique trinkets which is bad because you start a run with a particular team comp so moving her from 4 to 2 or 1 just ain't gonna happen.

corpse clears dont work with larval carrion, I was pretty upset I couldnt get invis and crit on my nightsworn graverobber with dead of night
It'd be pretty broken otherwise, Flag/PD/Grave Robber would just be farming free heals and crits

Crusader's Chapter 4 kind of undermines the point of his backstory. He's supposed to be so focused on the war that he's lost his moral compass and what's important to him. Giving his opponent mercy doesn't really sell that change.
He gave "Mercy" as a form of torture. He wanted to do more than just kill his foe.
It wasnt mercy so much as forced humiliation. I assume he didnt account for the Warlord to retain his rank after that loss

Bear, I think you had lack of damage, in my opinion the vestal is kinda useless, the occ is just so much better, with alchemist path plague doc and warlock occ, you can kill 2backlines with out they get a single chance to move.
I don't think Vestal is useless, Baer just doesn't really use her right. Like Occultist, she works better doing one specific thing, either healing or buffing/ doing damage, not trying to have her do everything all at once.

It just requires a very specific group and skill configuration. If you get attacks that can hit ranks 1 and 4, and some sort of protection against Blind, you can safely whittle down and kill both lungs and then kill the central part.

Without mods i'm concerned DD2 will fade into obscurity. the original is still played thanks to all of the great mods. I don't know what happened to the developers, but it's like they forgot what made the first game successful. Given how often this seems to happen in modern video games, i bet that means the people who actually designed the original game are no longer with the company and moved on to greener pastures.
I think it is ok to say "shipping" any thing is weird.
