5:25 Yeah a lot of shops are like this, but its not that they're building a different setup just to give to the house drivers. The sets are all the same, but a lot of times the house drivers want it set up a specific way to fit their driving style or they might find something that works a little better and adjusts the set accordingly. Set builders ain't perfect, but a lot of times its not a whole different setup, it's the same set being sold maybe with a different spring package in it or different trackbar adjustments

love the chat in this video keep it up :) you can get to A license within 2-4 days but even quicker if you play it right example stuff trying to win race's start from the back of every race and just drive around at your pace and don't get any incidence points & do that 4-5 races in each license class and boom A class that needs to be looked at

I use to be fast. Then setup shops made everyone else faster. It's a bad thing to me.

Hey there are two different ways to look at setup shops. If you were on a team or personally know all the ways to get extra speed (specially long run speed) out of the cars you race in open setup races, then you probably have a negative view of the competitive setups shops. However, If you are just a person that enjoys racing and don't have access to the "secret sauce" setups through a team or personal knowledge, then setup shops can really help you be competitive.
However, at the end of the days it does make open racing a lot more like the fixed series. The solution would be to offer fixed series that run the same length as the open series. The only reason I run open series in the NASCAR stuff is the length of the races; I really don't like how the fixed series are half the lenght of the open series.

Setup shops make it pay to win. It removes skill.
You buy a setup and get pole position in every race. If you're running against other people who bought, then you get top 5 and everyone else is bumped backwards.
WHAT IF iRacing sold tokens that guaranteed you a top 5 starting spot in a race or moved you up 5 positions from your Q time, AND gave you a .5% speed boost? Then it wouldn't be a sim and definitely would be pay to win.
But you can go buy "tokens/setups" from 3rd parties and get the same effect.
    It's lame.

I somewhat disagree. before setup shops the "elite teams" and certain people who had no other obligations in life except exploiting iracing setups where the gate keepers and they controlled who had the fast setups. The setup shops leveled the playing field and gave everyone access to those setups.
Now you may think that is a good thing or a bad thing, but that is what happened. So again, the solution is fixed races the same length as open races. A lot of people would stop buying sets and just race the longer fixed races.

@Area51AlienFactory it's still the same effect. You pay for a speed boost.
If iracing had tokens they sold that gave you the same speed boost, woukd that be cool?
Buying to get an in game advantage is the same thing no matter how you frame it.
It's like buying all the best guns in CoD. You're guns are better than others who have to earn it.
Iracing opposed to CoD, in CoD the game supports buying yourself a win because they officially sell the upgrades.
Iracing does not have a marketplace. They absolutely could, but they don't. They do not want pay2win.
The spirit of the gane is fairness. Buying a faster car is not fair.

@Area51AlienFactory that's how racing goes. The fastest teams are the ones who dedicate themselves to the sport.
Do you see nascar drivers whining about "they had more time than me to setup the car!". Absolutely not.
You're on cheating yourself by buying a setup. You learn nothing.

It's easy to just compIain and much hard to have constuctive practical solutions. I still think having fixed setup races the same length as open races would fix the problem. It would definitely get me out of the open series. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on my proposed solution.

    • @DrSpoculus

      @@Area51AlienFactory I don't disagree with that.
There are fixed and open races that negate the buying of setup. You have a fair point there.

I live in The U.S. and only race Formula series open wheel. The fast tracking in progression takes its toll on the very first lap. - carnage. And honestly, the carnage comes from upper license drivers down to D license… it’s a mess. I never understood why IRacing allows a A, B licensed driver with very low SR and IR in a D class race - those D drivers are trying to learn the craft, yet the low rating A & B guys jump in without caring at all. But, IRacing is first a for profit business. I was a test driver for two Indy Lights teams in the late 80’s to mid 90’s, and I can say that open wheel racing is a craft that takes loads and loads of practice, and it no different on IRacing… l personally feel to get into B class open wheel you should have a required amount of time in the cockpit. I log around 250 practice laps before entering a race that week.

Yeah, I start in the pits in a lot of the F3 races I am in to avoid the first lap carnage. Since its standing starts it doesn't really hurt you much.
