Filipinos are all about melodic rap, I agree! So difficult to market spitting minus the melody to Filipino ears as we just innately love music. My son listens to German rap and it's trashy noise to my ears. But "Pauwi Nako" is something I can listen to and it actually opened my world into a genre of fusion music (rap/rnb) that I didn't bother listening to before, like Filipino-Canadian duo Manila Grey ("Silver Skies", "Timezones", "1z") and Curtismith ("Soju").
Filipino rapper should know how to sing, thats a plus factor in the music industry. Gloc.9 and flow.g 's halik ( the one with the lakers hat) on the wish bus is a very good rap song to react to. You can also react to kz and shanti dope on the wish bus singing imposible. Stay safe.
Have them on the list, will make sure to do them in the near future (think next week is possible). Thnx for the suggestion like always, and stay safe as well.
The title of the song "Pauwi Nako" is a word play and or a shorter version of the Filipino sentence "Pauwi na ako." = "I am coming/going back/home." in the Filipino national language. "Pauwi" means "going/returning back or home or to the location or place where you came from", "na" means "now, right now, already, already now, or right and already now", and "ako" is "I, I am, or me".
Awww this is niceee😍I love this song.. well "Pauwi nako" means I'm on my way home! each artist wrote their own part. Most Filipino rappers can sing as well & melodic rapping is what they are generally good at.They are also part of the rap group Ex Batallion, you might want to check that out. 🙂
Yes, we were pleasantly surprised by this performance! It is cool that they have their own style. Will definitely check out Ex Batallion, thank you for your comment.
i wonder how you can read while they rap. my ears may not be engineered to rap haha! so i always just got the chorus part. but i am a fan of the beat and when lyrics are intellectually written. thus i listen to this genre when i am not doing anything but focus on the music. my friends actually use this as a way of saying sorry when suddenly someone became sulky due to bad jokes. like "sorry na babe, pauwi nako". coz the meaning of the song is kinda, the guy realized his mistakes and thinking of a way to reconcile. haha!
PAUWI NA AKO mmeans from working abroad, I am coming home. Our long missing each other is replaced by the excitement at the prospect of being with each other, A little more wait and am there. With me, from 23 years in HK to retire with my kids, is notb really as I thought it is going to be. The song speaks more of the double intimacy hoped to happen. It is not true as after some time they'kk be bacj to the old quarrels and misunderstandings. Unreal.
