Excellent video/factual summary, I remember these moments clearly. You're doing great, run with it. I remember Simon thin, a few more hairs and scrappy beard in those early days....but the world moves on.

I fixed it. Sorry, I was pulled in every direction today by all three channels.
The main reason it worked was that nobody thought they would try anything like it. It was pure luck.
Worth mentioning that the special forces units that are considered to be "counter-terrorist" units existed before the Entebbe operation. The SAS was formed in 1947, the French 1st Marine Infantry Regiment was established in the 1940s, the Italian COMBUSIN units were formed in 1939 and the 9th Paratroopers Assault Regiment was formed in 1975 but preceding units were formed in the 1950s.
The 1972 Munich massacre lead to the creation of GSG-9, the German federal police unit. Similar police units were formed after that in France (GIGN & GIPN) and other countries.

I laugh at Ellinikon AIrport in Athens being lax. In 2000 the main airport in Athens had stray dogs sitting on the X ray machine. I had to spend a night with the strays between a 11pm arrival and 4am departure. I was party phase, I never slept until 4am so I was reading and chain smoking with stray dogs at my feet waiting for snacks I tossed them. They replaced the airport soon after with a modern one.
They probably have purebred dogs hanging out there now

It's pretty wild that the plan only worked as well as it did because the terrorists gave Israel an extra three days, released a bunch of hostages and refuse to fire on the remaining hostages when they realised they were under attack.

There was an amicable split between Simon and the owners of the channel. Also Biographics, these two channels never belonged to Simon, he was only the host. The original owner of the channel passed away and responsibility passed to his daughter. Dealing with that grief and the learning curve of suddenly managing two channels and figuring everything out, there were some things not being done. Simon had to protect his own interests so he left. Karl Smallwood (who used to write for a bunch of stuff Simon hosts) took over for a while, but he has kinda retired from youtube. All of this happened MONTHS ago.
Simon left about 12 months ago. Clearly you don't watch many videos here.
