- Torn Labrum Shoulder Surgery - It's Time, Scottie!! It's finally time for Scottie to repair his torn labrum, in his shoulder, from his sports injury. His shoulder was a little worse off than we thought and he had what they call a slap tear. The doctor performed a arthroscopic surgery to repair his tear. This all started with a shoulder dislocation while playing football. I'm just glad we got it done and he's on the road to recovery. I swear we should just move into a hospital since I feel like we live there🤦🏻♀️ Any advice on how to take care of a teen in the same or similar situation? Teens are difficult enough as it is LOL.

I just found you guys channel , yes scottie, i agree Lincoln probably scarred and shocked rightfully so because you are his brother and someone he knows surgery is painful and he knows you will protect him it seems you all have a close bond thats awesome....i watched the video where you all going into hospital you stopped amd tied Lincoln shoes i realized then you are kind caring and humbled young man my brother was the same way with me i had alot of health problems too when i was younger like Lincoln age, my brother has passed away in 03 i pray full healing and great awesome blessed future

So great to see all the support Scottie has from his family. It's easy to take it for granted. There's nothing sadder then going through a medical emergency by yourself and having nothing to say when the nurse asks you whom she should notify of your condition. Then, asking for a cab when they ask whom to call to come pick you up. Appreciate your family.

@@HouseofBrown That is VERY good, but will be a little painful. This is very important that you do your exercises given daily so that you can slowly increase your range of motion. You can do it Scottie!

I had reconstructive knee surgery when I was 17. Had a cadaver ACL put in with screws and fixed my torn meniscus and had the nerve block in my hip to prevent pains
Knee injuries are no joke. Scott had to have surgery as well to fix his meniscus.
I'll be praying for his speedy recovery and this just shows me that I will be fine during my surgery and I will have to be brave like him

Nerve block was such a good decision I had this surgery in October and I 100% recommend the nerve block. Almost graduated from physical therapy!!

How smiling and happy Scottie was to see Lincoln. After Mom and Dad, a little boy has no better best-friend than an older brother. Scottie probably hasn't thought about it, but he is a dad-in-training. And Lincoln is learning how to rely on his instincts to tell him the people he can trust.

I’ve been through this specific surgery 2 times, I am getting a third one in about a month. I tore my labrum while doing rock climbing, (I did a lot of rock climbing this summer, more than I usually do since I worked at a summer camp and did a lot of belaying this summer, and a mixture of training as well). I don’t like them, but it is what it is, it’s making me better. I have had to keep getting this surgery for a third time because my surgeon the first time was his first surgery for this type of injury and he didn’t fix it correctly, the second surgery went better, but I was cleared to do climbing again and I tore it while sleeping, I sleep on my stomach with my hands under my pillow, so I ended up tearing the other shoulder (my left one), so I will have to type in school, since I’m left handed, and I can’t write for 2 months).

@@HouseofBrown thank you I had mine February 12th and it was rough I woke up shaking I was super cold and since Covid and all I was there by myself until my boyfriend came to get me and he had to stay outside they brought me out to the car. So I was at the surgery center from 10:30 am until 5 pm.Makes me miss having two arms. I was super nauseous the first 2 weeks. The stretches they have me doing get easier. He seems like he taking it like a champ. I’m 32 years old and everyone says that to me. Just the first week or so was hard. Thank you for this video. Gave me some insight.

I actually had the same surgery about ten months ago. It’s a long recovery. The worst part is sleeping because you have to be on your back. The physical therapy isn’t that bad. I have full range of motion 2 weeks after surgery.
If you are an athlete they said the surgery is easier, since you have all the muscle.
Yep... that’s been the most pain for him lately. We’ve been trying to figure out how to make sure his arm and shoulder have support while sleeping. Luckily, he is an athlete!

I totally understand! I was able to be done with the sling after about 8 weeks or so. Slowly getting back into everything. I played softball in May, so five months after surgery I was playing softball and getting back into everything.

Got mine done in 2014, I was 16 at the time nervous af but it all went good. A lot physical therapy. No problems since, and honestly doesn’t bother me at all, my range is little less but doesn’t effect me with anything I do. And if any of you guys are thinking about the military and worried about if they’ll disqualify you for, you still can get a waiver like I did, just took couple months for them to do everything (4 months). Could be different for different branch maybe tho

I wore a shirt that had buttons on the top after my shoulder surgery, they were like $30 but totally worth it cause I could actually wear a shirt.
Right?! That’s something I didn’t really think about beforehand, but you definitely have to be dressed! We wondered how the heck girls figured that issue out!

I’m so sorry. That was probably very disappointing!
I had a separated rotator cusp . and during the surgery I went into full Cardiac Arrest, and was shocked twice. I woke up in ICU felling like I had been hit by a freight train. 10 days in ICU and a ICD pacemaker implant in other shoulder left the Hospital with both arms in slings. Oh such memory's just for a sore shoulder. PS. Those defibrillators hurt, worse yet I have one built in now. Get Well, it's a slow recovery but does get better with time.

I just got mine last Wednesday. For me they gave me the nerve block after the iv and then after that I was out like a light, next thing you know I’m in the recovery room with the sling on my arm. One thing that I got tho that he didn’t was a pain pump which is a small tube a little bigger than fishing wire that they put in my neck so if I ever felt any discomfort, I push a button and it puts pain medication in me. The other day we got to take all of the bandages and wraps off of my arm and pull the pain pump out. THAT WAS PAINFUL!! Now I’ve just gotten the feeling back in all my fingers and arm. Just living a normal life but with a sling.
I just found out the back of my labrum is torn off and I need surgery I also might have to get my bicep muscle repaired I’m glad to see Scotties was successful💞

He already had a shoulder surgery back in June which is on his left shoulder. The surgeons have to repair it. It was unsuccessful. I hope that Scottie Gets a lot of physical therapy done and plays baseball. Tell him you love him.

I had a torn labrum as well but on my hip joint. I had surgery on it but that failed and I’ve had two surgeries since to fix it. Stay in there! God always has a plan for you ❤️

So, I had surgery on my foot on August 13. Recovery time was three months. I had eight weeks of being non weight bearing. I had three incisions and a total of 24 stitches. On the 29 of August I had my stitches removed and some x-rays taken. After going over the x-rays, the surgeon called my mom and told her that I needed to have surgery on my foot again. The metal plate wasn't holding my bones together correctly. On September 5 I had the second surgery. The surgery was only supposed to be an hour and a half. The surgery took three and a half hours to complete. I received a tissue transplant, and I had hardware placed on the top and bottom of my bones. The surgeon cut into the largest incision he made from the first surgery and made a incision on the side of my foot as well. I now have four incisions. I only had to have 15 stitches this time. I had to start the WHOLE recovery process all over again. Instead of 4 more weeks of not being able to put weight on my foot, I now have 7 more weeks. I'm really frustrated because with the second surgery it's guaranteed that I won't be able to play volleyball this season.
Oh wow! I’m so sorry! I’m sure if they told scottie he had to have surgery again he’d be pretty upset. We kind of had that situation with Lincoln two times when they did surgery for a new shunt. Surgery two times in one week, two different times. I hope you heal all well. Being off your feet is THE hardest!

My mom had very serious rotator cuff surgery a few years back... she had that exact brace an everything. She had to have tendons removed, lots of repairing. She has so much scarring, an indents from it. She still has problems to this day unfortunately. Hope his is doing better?
I’m sorry. Sounds like that was an intense surgery. Luckily his scarring is minimal. His healing is coming along smoothly!

I just had shoulder labrum surgery about two weeks ago and i’m doing alright still some pain and can’t really move my arm at all without an immense amount of pain
I’m watching this while I’m waiting to get my mri to see if I tore something in my shoulder tomorrow
I tore my labrum and dislocated 3 times in 1 football game surgery is Wednesday good luck to him.
Oh, dang! He’s doing really well in his recovery. Follow all your docs instructions and you’ll be fine! We also had him do hyperbaric oxygen therapy and that sped up his recovery real well! Good luck to you!

I am also suffering from Shoulder Dislocation, I have undergone for MRI tests two times, first was normal and the second one was contrast MRI. Now I have all the reports available but don't know what exactly report confirms. Due to Covid-19, I couldn't visit to Doctor.

I had torn labrum on my throwing shoulder which was the left in 2 places, arthritis and shaved collarbone. Surgery was piece of cake. And therapy wasn’t bad at all. Word of advice, don’t throw a baseball or football your hardest. Do baby steps. Nerve blocker worked for me. After it wore off, didn’t effect the pain at all
Nice to hear you had a lot of success! Luckily for Scottie, it was on his left and he’s right handed. So, PT is going well for him. He did the hyperbaric oxygen therapy and I think that’s helped really well. Baby steps for sure!
Didn’t do the chamber but therapy was cake. He’ll be playing sports in no time

I just had this done a couple of days ago. The numbing really worked through the first day’s, after that the pain kicked in. I recently woke up and my arm was out of the sling somehow. Freaked me out but I think all is well. Any recommendations for someone less than a week in?

Good day, I’m in a position surgery is an option for a minor labrum tear and one of the most important things to me is long term success. I get epidurals for muscle spasms. They work better than nerve blocker, on me anyway.
Did their study and research having that ice pack after surgery was brilliant I just got mine down FRIDAY 2-26-2021 Got the nerve block with the surgery but when it wore off the next day I didn't have ice pack it felt like I was shot in the arm by a 357.

I just got my bankart labrum repaired about 2 weeks ago. It feels good and I’m doing at home PT until I go to my first PT appointment. I get to sleep without my sling on already. Hey, I tore my labrum in September due to dislocating my shoulder 4 times. I had surgery in November and I’m now in physical therapy. I’m a gymnast and I dislocated my shoulder 2 days before competition and it’s been really hard for me to be out whole season. I was just wondering how Scottie is doing and if his shoulder feels good already, cuz mine feels like a never ending process. Also, I watched this vlog for like 10 times before my surgery because I was really nervous and watching this made me feel a bit better and more confident😊
He’s doing alright! He’s kept up on his physical therapy & is entering baseball season! Luckily his dr released him to start batting. We’re praying he stays healthy 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 keep on top of getting better & I bet you’ll be back in time. The one piece of advice we were given was to not push it early or you’ll re injure and have to have surgery again. Good luck. Keep us updated!
i have to get this surgery, torn labrum humerus and fractured shoulder, i'm only 13. my shoulder dislocated one night and i passed out because of the pain and ended up breaking my jaw in 2 places!

My ankle is messed up, it keeps spraining since I had fractured my growth plate a few years ago, and my mom wont bring me to get it checked, I had even told my dad when I went to his house and when I saw him and told him, he had just walked away ignoring the fact that my ankle was bothering me

This showed up in my recommended after watching a video where a guy has surgery for his torn ACL. He was given see through mesh boxerbriefs to wear with hospital gown. At least Scottie had a bit more modesty with his shorts.

House of Brown it’s going okay. My doctor didn’t let me take the pillow part off (which I hated) but I got to come out of the full sling at week 4, although I’m having Post Op complications of having 0 feeling in my arm, so we are going to be figuring out on the 19th what’s going on.
Oh, shoot!! Well, I guess we’ll see if he does actually get the pillow off. I guess that’s debatable. I hope you can figure out your problems. What kind of therapy have you done/did you do?
House of Brown recently, I just started last week for post op therapy, they have had me work on shoulder shrugs, pinching the shoulder, gripping things with my hand( he will lose motion in his hand for a bit, because it’s just sitting there), moving my wrist, raising my arm a little, and straightening the elbow. Each week my therapist will be adding on more stuff for me to do.
I’m not having surgery but I did break my wrist really bad and my sister broke her shoulder
I’m having this surgery next Friday.. I’m ready for surgery, but I’m not looking forward to the revovery.. how’d Scotty handle the recovery??
He’s doing amazing! He was persistent with his physical therapy. He doesn’t have 100% of his range back, but he still is able to function and do what he needs to well!

It’s going great! He did well! Lots of PT and I think he’s at a good place. Almost has his full range of motion back.

He got the nerve block right before the surgery and it did help with the pain after the surgery!
