    Swamiji followed a methodical slicing of human 'personality' to explain to a questioner how to rise above desire. Explained with so much patience and love. Verily Swamiji is an Avatara in our midst

    I believe this action. I tried this karma in earnest, it works. Every morning on awakening sit for a few minutes and send out what you want to focus on and what to shun. It works.
    Then I tried it after a shower sit for a few minutes and send out vibes what you want in your life.
    Last before dozing of nap or night time. Repeat the thoughts you want in your intellect and mind and what you wish to prevent.
    Took awhile but that repetition works

      Use discrimination to distinguish between good and bad. Selfless desire is always good because it is used for the higher good of many.

Thanks you so much. One of the greatest gift is life. One of the most difficult thing to control is your mind. A powerful way to control your taught and action base on how you preceive life is meditation and yoga and prayers every day including desciplin the mind . I am not the physical body but the eternal soul. Self realisation.

      We just need to practice what the Guru says. Some need to practice more than others. There cannot be just one answer to all. Depending on what we perceive as weakness, we have to make a conscious, determined action to overcome it. I supplement this broad framework with the practice of praying to Hanuman who is Jitendriya. That Hanuman is in me. I invoke His blessings so that I am able to move forward in my spiritual path of enlightenment.

    Swami, when choice is an illusion (i.e. freewill is an illusion), then how to implement it knowing it's an illusion?

    • @jgarciajr82
      @jgarciajr82 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Illusions are still real. What is real about a choice? The present moment. Freewill is different than choice. Cultivate is a better word than choice and freewill. An example would be getting a plant and waiting for it to grow. That doesn't happen. We need to cultivate it. Cultivate means to improve conditions. If the plant needs water, water it. Agency is a word we are trying to get rid of in spirituality. There is no agent just cultivation or (up-to-date conditioning) if you don't like the word cultivate.

    • @karthikprakash3623
      @karthikprakash3623 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still. To make a choice means to have a sense of will? To have a sense of individuality free from destiny?

    May we all exercise our power of choice, moment by moment, choosing Shreyas, the spiritual and beneficial for all! | Key Takeaways: 1. What do we pursue?: Enlightenment. Four puruṣārthas:
    Kama, Artha, Dharma , Moksha. When the jiva more mature, seek something more real and eternal. Combine the business of life with a spiritual quest.
    2. Arjun’s question. How do you overcome obstacles on the spiritual path? Gita Chapter 3 verse 26-43
    1) Watch where desire lies. Three levels: level of sensory system, the level of mind (emotions, memories, etc.), and intellect (understanding, evaluation) Start with the gross leve, guard the gate of senses. Come to the clarity that we are not the body, mind, or sensory. Use the clarity that we are not them; we are Atman/Sat Chitta Ananda, and use that clarity to bring mind, sensory, desires, etc., under control.
    2) The power of choice is always available, moment to moment, what to say, what to think, and how to act. Choose what is easy and pleasurable or what is spiritual?
    3) Shreyas and Preyas. Preyas means that which is pleasant for us. Shreya is moksha, which can be relied upon; the only thing that is ultimately good for us is spirituality. The rest is all preyas.

  • @osirusj275

    If the mind consciously still choose to do what the senses want, then how u know that decision is by conscious or by senses, because if u pay closer attention, when u are able to decide not to do something, thats coz mostly the desire is not as strong... Like if u ate chocolate just last month u might not desire it much now but if u ate 3 or 5months ago, that desire strength might be stronger.. So seems like conscious decision is about reducing strength of desire of wanting it... Or is it understanding how giving in to the senses is not beneficial to us and therefore by that reasoning able to remove that desire? So which is conscious decision, reasoning to remove desire, or manually reducing strength of desire by replacing the desire with other things in life?

      @@pranavtendolkar8578 so ur main control method is by viewing the desire from an 3rd person view? What if that doesn't for that well... And is it also good to replace that craving with something else so that mind doesn't keep thinking burger? I notice when I resist it and eat something else that's healthy... I still want burger... But if u can force yourself to focus on work then maybe the desire cna be lesson... In the past I have no such cravings and if have I can control it fairly easily... But once I knew thta fast food employ stuff that makes us wanna crave it over and over.. After i eaten a pizza... I notice few days after I still crave similar fast food... Maybe due to the tongue being attracted to MSG.... So even I notice this I still crave it... And I don't usually crave in the past... Its only after fast food and instant noodles... Well... I guess I jst have to cut off high sodium and fat food... That way craving is practically none.... Btw.... In the video... brother what's the point of god throwing this grand party, when people wanna just go there to meet him without enjoying the party he threw, wouldn't the efforts get wasted? Maybe I do not understand, but personally I believe its having beer with my friends which is fun, not the beer itself... so pleasure is just something that helps us to chill together, but not the reason why we chill together.
    but the question really is what would you do if you meet god and there is no activity to do with him.
    hahaha also does god meditate ? also is creation something he made when he was bored or was It a controlled thought in itself ... its really a cosmic joke when you realize this paragraph was just a thought by consciousness?god itself thinking about the nature of itself and its thoughts

      Power of Choice is the title. Becoming the Master of your mind the purpose. This is just an example of how the environment just distracts us all the time. There is a great learning in what Swami just said. One needs to be able to discern it. How does skepticism help us if we are true seekers? Point is to dwell on what is said. If it doesn't work for you, move on. He has just taught us how very fragile and delicate our mind is. It needs to be trained and controlled if we are spiritual seekers.
