Just shows you how much San Diego Studios hasn't had to improve the game because they have zero competition. 90% of these animations are still used in the newest game. And in some lighting conditions the lighting is even better than the newer game.
You also forgot that you could choose promotions on game days for example .. Jersey day , bobble head day , kids night etc . Each promotion helped with income throughout the season which hasn’t been in The Show for the last 12 years .
This is the first mlb the show I even played, game holds a special place in my heart

MLB The Show 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2015 are my favorites. 2016 was bad either. I have every MLB The Show game to date.
When 989 made the MLB games they were pretty good too

As an astros fan watching this with wandy rodriguez being our best player at the time was for sure the dog years. Carlos lee wasnt that bad , altuve turned up this year a bit as a young guy too

My first The Show....fond memories. I remember the pitch speeds being crazy fast playing on a old 720p HDTV. I dumped 100's of hours into RTTS. Joey Bats was the Canadian Cover when those were still a thing. Check-Swings actually work with the Dualshock 3 pressure sensitive buttons.

The features were so good. After playing newer games the hitting and pitching animations are so hard.
Hanley started 2012 with the Marlins but was traded to the Dodgers at the deadline that year.
It was either this game or MLB 11, but my friend and I found out you could bounce curveballs in the dirt and still hit them, so we spent all night trying to hit them for home runs.

You can record the ps3’s hdmi out by putting it through a cheap powered hdmi splitter. This usually removes hdcp. You can also use an hdmi to dvi dual-link adapter or cable. And then plug that into a powered dvi to hdmi converter. I believe these methods still work for anything with HDCP

Fortunately, this is one of the few games where MLB had to step it up in their physics and graphics bc 2K was their competitor and STILL was offering better gameplay and options for their mid graphics. Because 2K lost the rights and didn’t want to renew them for MLB since everybody started playing The Show, they renewed and invested into their NBA games instead. SDS took advantage of that train ride to “perfect” their work, just to later copy and paste from MLB The Show 20 and up. I bought, the show 23 earlier this year to see what the difference was, and I just ended up putting in MLB The show 17 to play retro mode. Huge disappointment.
The ones I remember playing the most are '09, '10, '15, '17 and '19.

The game barely changes year over year. Rtts needs to be revamped and get more love. DD uniforms need to allow us more customization and uni patches. Would make it more fun imo

I've never bought a pack or micro transaction on any sports game, because I don't play them online. I feel like this is the only way to stop the devs from selling unrefined game play. But also, now that I've seen such lazy effort overall, I don't buy their games anymore. I don't really know what the difference is between me playing a release 10 years ago and something today.

30:35 - Many MLB teams switched to Matte batting helmets on the road around 2016/2017, that's why you don't see as many shiny helmets in the newer games.

@troylee4196 That's true, but I'm just addressing the comment he made about the shiny helmets. The lack of shiny helmets in the newer games isn't cause they're slacking on lighting, it's because of the switch most MLB teams made.

The player models haven't changed in almost 15 years. That is sad. SDS really is a lazy ass company now putting most of their time into DD. MLB The Show 24 is the worst looking sim sport game out there.

Why are people such nostalgia heads? I always look at people saying “this old game is amazing.” I’m watching this video, it’s literally the same thing as what we currently have with worse graphics. It is cool to have old rosters but I’m sure u could find a way to do that in the new games
It's not the same, though, in terms of all the stuff you could do in franchise. I'd argue the Show's graphics are in dire need of an upgrade too.

Let's be honest here, incredible in this sense is likely just a catchy headline in this case. Its nostalgic, but the game was what it was back then; a routine baseball game with basic controls.
It also speaks volumes of how bad 24 is
Why is '24 bad? Because they are giving the online players what they want? Pay to win virtual baseball cards? It's more of a reflection of what's wrong with modern sports culture and they're giving the fans what they want. I don't need to win online games to make myself feel special.
