    Hey! Just a heads up, cause it ended up being kinda confusing: you start the video saying "before", as if you're gonna talk about "saturation coming before compression", and then you show us the opposite. Good little tip, though!

      Good call! I say: -Before… because “after”makes no sense 😆 and I’m referring to the words in the thumbnail. Thanks so much my friend, long time!

    So Saturation first then Compression?

      Ugly, saturation after unless you want saturated parts and other don’t

    I use a preamp plugin as a gainstaging plugin. So I always have a bit of saturation right at the beginning. If I want more, I increase the input, if I want less I decrease the amount (which is usually set at max when I load it up.) and sometimes I change up the saturation type. And sometimes I add another saturator after the entire chain if the track needs it. I often don't really think about when and where, I just do it based on what I hear. But it's nice to hear this because now I can pay attention to this!

      I used to be like that, all you get is an amplification of the dirt which is rarely stable since it only crushes the peaks

    Just so I understand, are you saying that saturation is more effective after compression?

    • @AmagrasMUSIC
      @AmagrasMUSIC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not only that, it is impossible to get a good, steady saturation with a signal too dynamic. That’s the secret, just that

      @@AmagrasMUSIC Hmmm. Seems that it would depend on the result you desire, no? For instance, there's a certain vocal saturation/overdrive sound that I love, and it only breaks up when the vocalist sings the louder words. The rest of the time, the vocal is not distorted, perhaps just on the verge of breaking up. That wouldn't be achievable if you compress the signal too much beforehand, because the vocal would sound overdriven the entire time, instead of coming through on certain words/phrases. Do you agree?

      @@HollerAtcherBoi yes, you are talking about Chris Cornell’s voice in the old soundgarden records. I’m making a short, precisely now about that 😀
      And I have a question for you, how do you achieve that? th-cam.com/users/shortsVP4o-AkJsM0?feature=share

      @@HollerAtcherBoi another instance where is very likely to compress after saturation and is in parallel chains where the objective is not to thrash the signal. I must make myself hear more Artic Monkeys, I remember I had a couple of videos and I loved them, it wasn’t easy to get music back then in Cuba 🤘👍

    I tend to insert the NLS as the 1st plugin in the chain to give that analog feel for each track and honestly most of the time I use compressors only on busses unless there is a specific sound that I'd like to shape or control it's dynamic range individually but adding a compressor on busses glue all the sounds together more and give that analog type of vibe. Cheers ✌

    • @AmagrasMUSIC
      @AmagrasMUSIC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s because you like to use saturation for sound, I used to do that but now I’m more demanding on the results I have and saturation in the first insert was in the way

    Also this track is really nice! Kinda sounds like drum and bass but with acoustic instruments instead of digital ones! And I love that! I like DnB at parties and shit but once I went to a dnb concert with an orchestra and an electric guitar and that was amazing!
