    I used to LOVE Lightroom Classic and Lightroom in general, UNTIL Adobe brought in that subscription model. To each their own, but WHY should someone be forced to pay a monthly fee to 'rent' their software? It doesn't make sense to me, but like I said, to each their own. Perpetual licenses all the way for me. Recently bought Affinity Photo 2 and I LOVE that program.

      my roomate uses affinity photo 2 he said he loves it, i do love the ease of lightroom though, however layely with all the AI updates its starting to lag on my pc a bit. sometimes making it difficult to edit.

    The one thing that LR has for it is the digital media manager. Affinity does not have this, wish they did. However, I am going to look into using Apple Photos as the manager and Affinity as the editor. Some have done this with success.

    The whole point of your video was to tell us "a lot of aspects of those programs that you like or dislike" which you didn't! 🤦‍♂

    Good review of the software. Another point is that you will like whichever app you use extensively. Getting past the learning curve is the hardest part. If that's true then the less expensive option is the clear winner.

      Thank you. i enjoy both quite alot. i think Affinity is a much better option than Photoshop, because it also allows you to use layers, it's almost like Light room and Photoshop combined. However i still give the edge to LR because of the features,

    A log of people are now ditching Adobe, and going to Affinity or other programs

    Should have bought Lightroom Classic for $70 1time fee. No slave monthly rental. I actually like Affinity, and encourage folks to use it. Any non-slave program.

      unfortunatley lightroom classic isnt available anymore for a one time fee, i wish i would have gotten it when it was though.

    Stumbled across this video when searching for info on Affinity. Fantastic plain-English review. Been using LR for a couple years and was thinking of cutting ties, but I can't seem to find anything that matches its features. Thanks. What do you use to edit your videos? I never did learn Premier.

    • @JeffGresham
      @JeffGresham  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just switched to Davinci for the videos, before that i was using Vegas. both are good but Davinci has so many more options available and alot less crashes. I have never used Premiere so i'm right there with you.

    Thx for this comparison! Would you recommend the free version of Lightroom for causal photo editing from smartphone pictures? Or is the paid version of Affinity Photo the better option for a non professional user? I'm asking because I don't want to pay monthly because I simply don't need it. Thx for your help.

    • @JeffGresham
      @JeffGresham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i'd say go with Affinity for those reasons. plus it will help you be less dependent on presets, and force you to learn to edit without them.

    can you develop multiple images at the same time on Affinity photo? Lightroom allows you to edit them all at the same time, paste attributes, etc

    • @JeffGresham
      @JeffGresham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think so, but there may be a way. Also Affinity Photo 2 just came out as well, and i haven't tried it, so you may be able to on that one.

      @@JeffGresham yeah I've been digging up for info and it doesn't seem to be an option which makes it a big deal breaker for me n my flow, i upload the images to my computer n color correct them all on camera raw, would be impossible to do one by one

    I like how you solve it, but if I have to choose I always be the man to own it. I don’t like subscription, for example, movies ,music, not only software, I want to buy it. I don’t care about the price. But I can see the movie, I can edit my photos and I can make my music without paying any subscription! When you buy, yourself is the owner, when you’re subscribed to something , means you are renting nothing....

    • @JeffGresham
      @JeffGresham  ปีที่แล้ว

      Having a subscription is kind of B.S however in the end it's totally worth it, you get ALOT for the price, with extra apps, Portfolio webpages, and more. but again it's what works for each individual.
