The DeLorean wouldn't be nearly as popular without the movie, but I feel like it's unique design would have made it a collector's item to some extent regardless.
You could still get parts and fix just about anything until the big collapse in 2008. Now parts are hard to find and expensive except for the most common cars
the delorean is not nor will it ever be a "muscle car" for crying out loud, it had about the weakest V6 engine chevy ever made! over weight and a weak engine doesn't qualify as a muscle car...an odd looking car for sure but nothing about it screamed muscle!
Outside of BTTF the DMC-12 was infamous for being slow,
on the movie car they had to shove a 928 engine to get it to 88 mph
