I wish there had been more research back in the early 90s. A dear friend of mine had a TBI from an incredible fall, and never received much in the way of treatment after being discharged from hospital. The struggle to get help was unreal. His personality was permanently changed and his speech was permanently damaged and he never got support or therapy.

Thank you for your comment Saffron, and we are so sorry to hear of your friend's TBI from a fall and it's consequences in the early 90s. If you are based in the states and are still in touch, you and your friend may find some helpful resources and local support groups through the Brain Injury Association of America - www.biausa.org/

There is too much stigma around mental health problems so good point there. I never even knew til the last two years that I even had a neurological problem but suffered from mental health problems . I never knew that I was vulnerable to OCD. I do understand language and have a good understanding more generally but sometimes what I say doesn't make sense or back to front. I have learnt something new now.

If you use the term "9th Grade", does that mean that you are a High school Freshman in the USA? If so, there would be a different path.
Path in USA: After You get your Bachelors degree, preferably Pre-Med, you take your MCAT exam and hope to get accepted into medical school. Failing that, you could apply to become a D.O. in some states. After Medical school, you can specialize.
