    Meryl Sperling, MD, discusses the criteria and importance for early screening of gestational diabetes for Asians populations. She talks about how BMI affects the risk for gestational diabetes among 13 distinct Asian subgroups in California.
    Speaker:
    Meryl Sperling, MD, MA, is a fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Stanford University. She was previously part of the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program where she taught English in rural Japan and subsequently received a Master of Arts in secondary education at Columbia University - Teachers College. She attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Hawaii. Her research interests include gestational diabetes mellitus and maternal health disparities in Asian American and Pacific Islander populations.
