You’re right about the guitar tone on Obituary. I compared it to a very bright and crisp tone like Exodus and it’s night and day. It really works for them.
Necrotic Nick- It's pretty overlooked since it came out the same year as Darkest Day and also since Candlelight is defunct as a record label now. It definitely sounds a lot like Obituary but there's some other elements that pop up on this as well.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, this one definitely seems to fly under the radar even for Obituary fans. It's a fun listen and if you dig Obituary you'll probably dig this.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I don't think it was very well promoted and again Obituary had an album come out the same year which definitely got more exposure. Still, this is a pretty solid album worth checking out.
I remember buying this when it was first released but not jammed it in a loooong!!!time! I remember it being kinda Obituary lite, but quite enjoyable all the same...Gonna have to dig it out and give it spin again!
Necrotic Nick- Obituary lite is a good way to describe this. It's not so far removed from Obituary on most of it but they had some stuff that was a bit different. It's a pretty decent album all around though.
I saw those two brothers with Obituary in Vancouver in 2016 opening for Cannibal Corpse. Also on the bill was Cryptopsy (who were terrible that night) and Abysmal Dawn.
I love this album haha awesome you covered it hell yea! I am counting the days until Dying of everything.. Obituary is one of the first death metal bands for me so ya I'm excited
Necrotic Nick- Man, you're like one of the few on here that seemed to know about it. I'm starting to think that Candlelight didn't even do much promoting for this one when it dropped or it was just super overshadowed by Darkest Days when that dropped. I'm stoked to go over the new Obituary. What a great band to kick off new releases with for 2023.
Listening to you talk about Trevor Peres got me thinking. Did you ever listen to Trevor Peres's other band Catastrophic? They released 2 albums and one EP. I've checked out the album The Cleansing on TH-cam. There's no mistaking Trevor's playing on the album
Necrotic Nick- I had it on my list awhile ago honestly and when I saw it again I thought this would be perfect since we've got an Obituary album coming out soon. It was pretty fun to go over this one.
I had no idea this album existed. As always, I will need to check it out. Collection organization question. Do you put this cd in your "T" section, or do you file it with the rest of your Obituary cds?
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, this one seems like it wasn't promoted at all because I've been getting a lot of people saying they've never seen this one before. I put this in the T's since it's pretty much its own project.
I'm glad you are still doing retro reviews. I'm looking forward to Obituarys new album. Also are you a fan of Disgorge (Us)? I seen that you had Abominable Putridity in your collection and Matti Way from Disgorge was in the band on that specific album.
Necrotic Nick- I wanted to do more last year but with the immense release schedule it was tough to find time so we did a batch here recently. I'm stoked for some new Obituary. I jammed the hell out of the self titled when it dropped. I only own Disgorge's last album Parallels of Infinite Torture and I thought it was pretty good. I'm hit or miss on brutal death/ slam honestly and I kinda like the Mexican Disgorge a bit better.
I've decided I'm going to step away from the forum. I'm too close to the metal musicians and crews I grew up with and toured with. Never knew about this project. Loving the new Obituary album, looking forward to your review!🤘🏻
You’re right about the guitar tone on Obituary. I compared it to a very bright and crisp tone like Exodus and it’s night and day. It really works for them.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, the tone on here does have a brighter sound. It does at least make it sound different from Obituary in that respect.
I have never ever heard of this so being excited for it is a friggin understatement 💀☠️🪦⚰️🧟🧟♂️🧟♀️
Necrotic Nick- It's pretty overlooked since it came out the same year as Darkest Day and also since Candlelight is defunct as a record label now. It definitely sounds a lot like Obituary but there's some other elements that pop up on this as well.
Cool video. Didn't know they did an album. I'll check it out
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, this one definitely seems to fly under the radar even for Obituary fans. It's a fun listen and if you dig Obituary you'll probably dig this.
Wow, yeah, had no clue this existed, but will go look for it now. Had Obituary's new one pre-ordered for awhile now, excited for Friday.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I don't think it was very well promoted and again Obituary had an album come out the same year which definitely got more exposure. Still, this is a pretty solid album worth checking out.
Now I can't wait for the eventual Obituary album ranking.
Necrotic Nick- With this new album coming out I pretty stoked to do that one eventually.
Interesting album. It would be awesome to see a new Obituary review. It comes out this Friday.
Necrotic Nick- We definitely plan on covering the new Obituary when it drops. I'm too big of a fanboy to not cover that one lol.
I definitely need to check this out! Sounds like a fun listen.
Necrotic Nick- If you love Obituary you'll find some stuff you love on this for sure.
I remember buying this when it was first released but not jammed it in a loooong!!!time! I remember it being kinda Obituary lite, but quite enjoyable all the same...Gonna have to dig it out and give it spin again!

awesome review
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
@@thrallsofmetal welcome 🙂🤘
I saw those two brothers with Obituary in Vancouver in 2016 opening for Cannibal Corpse. Also on the bill was Cryptopsy (who were terrible that night) and Abysmal Dawn.
Necrotic Nick- Wait... Obituary has brothers in the band?
@@thrallsofmetal Yeah, John and Donald Tardy are those two brothers!
Necrotic Nick- They're not an old married couple that watches Murder She Wrote Together? This is quite a shocking revelation.
I love this album haha awesome you covered it hell yea! I am counting the days until Dying of everything.. Obituary is one of the first death metal bands for me so ya I'm excited

Necrotic Nick- Sadly no but I do know of it and I've heard a lot of good stuff about that project. I guess it's time to finally check that one out.
I've had this CD for a while. I like the album, basically a thrashier Obituary. Look forward to your thoughts.
Necrotic Nick- I had it on my list awhile ago honestly and when I saw it again I thought this would be perfect since we've got an Obituary album coming out soon. It was pretty fun to go over this one.
Those vocals are something else. I don't know if I like his style or not but it's definitely his own style not replicated much.
I had no idea this album existed. As always, I will need to check it out.

Necrotic Nick- Hey, no worries. Take some time off. You're welcome to come back whenever you want, man.
@@thrallsofmetal Thx man, Appreciate that..
Amazing cd & wish the brothers did a 2nd cd.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, at the same time I'm glad they're still doing killer stuff with Obituary more.
Tidwell huh such a good name lol
Necrotic Nick- I'd be more worried if you hated that name honestly lol.
@@thrallsofmetal lol
So bored of metal. Time for Lawrence Welk.
Necrotic Nick- That's quite an extreme jump there lol.
