- Porsche Boxster Door Storage Storage flap broke on my car. The flap will not hold tension. I opened it up to investigate. I found a broken part but appears to be repairable with some epoxy and a plastic part with the same hole size. Watch to see how I did it.

I watched this video and pretty much used the same technique. It worked like a champ. I also took a black Sharpie pen and colored the piece I made, so it would blend in well. Overall, this solution works very well and costs bascially nothing. Well done!!!
I watch both channels. I encourage you to build your DIY and for finance once or twice a week.
Quality is more important than quantity. Plus, quantity can be stress inducing.
Still, I've watched all since I joined. And I find your nerdiness, scattered attention span and face adorable. Your quirkiness and honesty makes you incredibly likeable. As long as you don't do cosmetics, reactions and countdown, I'm in.
What the heck are countdowns? Cosmetics? Uhhh lol!
I have to do this on my boxter on one side prob was the spring was missing, contacted Porsche parts and you have to buy the complete lid assembly. I had to make a spring, so hopefully it’ll all work.i also repainted the lids before re assembly, thanks for the video really helped.
Huh... whole thing huh. If the spring is missing maybe the plastic broke too.
Yes I’ve just done the same job you have with your help, great job thanks for the help.
=D Nice!
Thanks a lot. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Always loved epoxy! So much better than super glue
Working so far, wonder if it'll hold up with the high heat in the car.
BeatTheBush DIY hopefully.. I've used JBweld to patch up a intake tube in the engine bay and it's held up for years
Wow that's cool we really enjoyed this video.
Thanks! Fixing stuff and use them until they cannot be fixed anymore. =D
All you need to do is drill a 1.5mm hole away from the worn existing hole re insert the spring and all done im a auto upholstery trimmer have been repairing these all the time
BeatTheBush DIY nails the issue, the plastic support finally breaks,,, but Chris Bolos closing remarks are excellent, just drill a 1/16th hole beneath the original failed thin plastic support ring and you'll be done in 20 minutes. TH-cam videos once again are the ultimate productivity tool to solve your issues. I've used youtube vidoes to rebuild car doors, dishwashers, washing machines, and sewing machines, all with 100% success !1
This time it was no different, amazing problem diagnosis up front, and team member inputs to utilize the existing structure of the door and bracing to save loads of time. I'm always amazed how efficient and defect-free these videos are....
Thank you to you both!
A confirm @chrisbolos4947 is correct. Drill a hole just inside where the prior one was. It can be inside the lip of the plastic, which makes drilling the hole easier and the resulting hole stronger as you are drilling at a thinner point but putting more material between the hole and the edge of the plastic.
Then you just gotta hook the spring through the new hole, then re-insert the pins. Voila a $0 fix!!!
Hello. I too need to repair my door storage flaps. Looks like it's been 7 months since you made your repair. How is it holding up with the epoxy? Curious.
Works fine still. No issues. =D
Did it end up holding up overtime?
Yes. But the so much other things failed that I had to get rid of it.
I feel like this would be a time for 3D printing. It could be used it to make the missing piece, based off copying the non-broken side.
Hmmm.... my gut says it might not be strong enough. It's just one hole too rather than a complex shape.
Also, the plastic material for 3D printing really doesn't hold up to heat very well. It won't melt but it warps pretty badly.
