I’m convinced that Xiao Yao loves Xiang Liu more than she loves Tushan Jing. The only difference is that she shows her love out in the open to Tushan Jing cause he has promised to be with her forever. But she never acknowledges what she feels for Xiang Liu cause he never pursued her in terms of romance cause he knows that he can’t give her what she wants. But if he ever pursued her despite the barriers between them and gives her a promise to be there for her no matter what, I’m sure that she would chose XL over TJ. My most fav character in this story is XL and I hurt so much for him! I need a whole story of XL and XY in a different universe or something!

In the beginning, it might appeal to be the attraction of the girl to a bad boy, but then something magical and deeper emotional feelings have developed between them little by little every time they encountered each other. They share their blood a few times. It is kind of like; they don’t have to be together as a couple to have desires, peace, care and friendship/romance love for each other. The struggle are in their minds that they ignored the possibility of being together due to their different in existence. Xiang Liu always make an excuse to himself and Xiao Yao that she loves only Tuscan Jing. Xiao Yao makes an excuse that Xiang Liu is a nine head demon. After all, they always know the presence of one another in their hearts and that enough for them.
Personally I consider him as her first husband. In that 37 years underwater he was with her every night, she could sense and see he would caress and hug her to sleep, carry her outside so she wouldn’t get bored, he truly take care of her until the end of the book. Even though he’s not with her.. she can feel it in her heart beat.

I don't think Xiao Yao appreciated much of Xiang Liu's effort in those 37 years because she was in vegetative stage. When she woke up, it was like just a dream to her, not real. The fact that she got upset hearing that Xiang Liu asked a mountain of Churong to her bother to revive her was a clue that she still thought Xiang Liu was still a materialistism, everything came with a price. She did not remember if Xiang Liu got no wealth, no money, thus why he asked for a mountainous land to grow food, herbs and anything to feed him and her. He did not asked money though. Xiang Liu knew about it though, that Xiao Yao was a type of girl that needed to shower in wealth, because she was already suffered in the past. He would not asked her to follow him into sufferring, thus why called off her wedding with Fenglong (because she would suffer there) and instead paired her with Tushan Jing, the fox tycoon.

No wonder he chose to end his last life as General Gonggong. He was the star of a male character in Tong Yao' universe, the one who could take and serve, who knew what actual love was (including his love for the general, and his "family"). Chenrong army was a remnant though
No exactly, he doesn't paired her , because she already decided for Jing and because he is not the master of her life. He just respected her decision and help her to fulfill hers wishes. Who is him to "paired her" with somebody?
XY is not the kind of girl you are describing . She never asked for riches. You are assuming XL knows XY needs money and luxury, when in reality he knows she doesn't need or want that, she just ask for a happy and ordinary life. I think you are not paying atencion to the drama😅

If she dies, he will die too.... and he can't die yet. He has to fulfill his promise to Lord Hong Jiang. This is so complicated!! Pity that I haven't read the novel.
