    Here are the mods I have: Firebox, Hopper Lid, Damper, Racks, Water Pan, Fan protector slide, Ash bin platform and Drip Pan/Manifold cover. The Hopper Lid and Damper have definitely helped the efficiency of the burn. Water Pan is great but a little bit of a pain to clean. only use water in it. I put some other stuff in it and it caked up. Drip Pan/Manifold is great, makes clean up really easy and has protected the manifold itself a lot. I have two of the Racks but really should've only gotten one as the top rack is really close to the lid. The new fan protector is much better than the original and easier to use. 6 months in with some of these mods and I feel they have enhanced the cooking experience a lot, especially when i put the hopper lid on about 3 months ago. The one I would not get is the Ash bin mod. With the new, better hopper/starter bottom, not a whole of of large chunks fall anymore. I'm glad I got the mods as I think it's helped enhance, at least, the experience of grilling, if not that actual cooking itself.

    Excellent detail on how to do the mods.
    I was a little lost for most of them on what the actual effect of the mod is supposed to do (especially for the hopper mod) - is there an issue with the hopper?
    I don't own one of these, but could possibly apply a similar mod to a different unit, if I knew what problem they solved. - Cheers Tommy!

      I got the klotes mods damper for mine, it's a different style than the ls mods one in this video. It's a slide style and it helps when real windy or cold out. It keeps the heat and smoke in much better. Also helps to keep water out if raining.

      The only mod that I am opting for (just bought the MB 1050) is the fire box mod. The tin foil that MB uses in the fire box is ridiculous. You'd think they would use 302 10 gauge plates to make it last, but no. As such this mod (I use the one from KlotesMod as it has 4 - 302 stainless steel 12 gauge sleeves like the one from the factor to replace the tin foil ones) improves reliability and quality IMO. The others, are nice to have but don't add much IMO. For water, I just add a metal or foil container and fill it up with water, for the grease, I plan to put heavy duty aluminum foil to protect the manifold.

    Good mods.

  • @Ralph_Z1
    @Ralph_Z1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    From my own experience the firebox mod was a bad investment. The SS liner/firebox mod warped inward within the first 5 cooks. This causes a restriction in the firebox preventing full airflow. Now the pit takes a lot longer coming up to temp. Specially when searing at 700F.

    • @thegalleryBBQ
      @thegalleryBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Ralph, and I do appreciate your opinion! Cheers and have an awesome 4th!

    • @brutesquadbbq2268
      @brutesquadbbq2268 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can second that opinion, I ran into the same issue with mine. If I change it out again I’ll get the Klote’s mods 4 piece firebox, or figure out how to get some fire bricks to fit in there.

    • @Rad_B_OLand
      @Rad_B_OLand 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if there is a way to put fire brick down there. Pretty much like the Char Griller gravity feed models have?

    • @hordenation9335
      @hordenation9335 ปีที่แล้ว

      what I'm thinking is, maybe add the firebox mod after the tin metal has eroded away and exposed the firebrick. That first layer of tin metal is suppose to burn away after awhile but it does warp inwards on all the grills so maybe with that gone the firebox mod won't warp inwards. Just a thought.
