I LOVE Rockabilly..well, in the classic sense, the OG stuff of the early 1950’s. I honestly can’t get on board with the revival stuff since the 70’s up to current. It’s all so cliched, historically inaccurate, and totally bastardized. YES, I know it’s a modern interpretation and just have fun, anything goes. But the problem in any subculture it suffers from “more Rockabilly than thou”, meaning if I did go to a Rockabilly festival, me doing just my thing of no tattoos, natural hair color, no facial piercings (as 99.9%women really didn’t get tattooed, pierced in the face,or wear blue hair back then) wearing a historically accurate outfit; I would be looked heavily down upon by girls in heavy tattoos, facial piercings, a historically inaccurate out fit (WWII era Victory Rolls in manic panic dyed blue hair with an early 60’s pencil skirt comes to mind). And yes, I’ve had it happen before.
I enjoyed this so much! Thanks for posting!
