  • As beautiful as Sapa Vietnam is, it has its dark side right in the center child labor can be seen everywhere. PLEASE do not condone this treatment of children. Children should be children. Stop the robbing of childhood.

I truly appreciated your insights. well explained and not condemning on the peoples... facts that tourism brings these downside. Children who work don't go to school, simple! As an Early Childhood Educator I was in tears when I witness this in Peru. You are helping children by helping travellers to not become part of the problem, thank you

I’ve never been to Sapa but, it’s the same thing in Mexico. About 30 years ago when I went on my first cruise the ship went to Ensenada. My sisters and I went to the blow hole called La Bufadora. There were kids just like that selling their merchandise or just begging for money. I felt so bad, I gave one kid some money and soon, I was surrounded by kids! I learned my lesson really quickly not to do that again!

Yes kids in Mexico still sell stuff but in Sapa it was on a larger scale

Sorry but if i agree with the fact to dont give to kids, the rest of video show a lack of knowledge (not your fault) about this area. U have to know in the Sapa District 85% of peoples are from the ethnic minorities but 99% of all business in Sapa Town are owned by Kinh (the main ethnic group in vietnam), u also have to know that peoples over 30 in sapa are mostly all iliterare (the first school in sapa open onlly 30 years ago), so how u can have job ? I also so watch your videos and i think 0 vnd of your money u spend in sapa have finaly come into the hand of minority peoples, u visit catcat village ( a theme park owned by private company), fansipan cable car (also owned by the biggest real estate company of vietnam), ur hotel, ur restrant all this business are not owned by locals.... Maybe u understand more why u saw lot of mama or kid in the street it's the only source of income for the entire familly. One solution is to go to the homestay of the mama, eating with them, use local hmong or zao as guide WITHOUT use intermediaries(or using minority owned travel agency or ethic one). I prefer 1000 times a night in a local village with stunning rice field landscape, dining with hmong or dzao familly than spend pend one hour in the fake sapa town. Maybe next time u visit sapa think about this. btw it's not against you, best regards.

It is sad but you also have to understand that these are ethnic group from a villages and they're very poor and a lot of time they have nothing but agreed that they can be problematic to the tourists and the tactic that they used. U can see same thing happening in plaes like Mexico and many third world'scountries. You have biggest problems here in tge states, where a mom sat with 2 or 3 of her kids in the middle of the streets begging for money. I wouldn't called them a scams though, of course these businesses do not like it because its drive away their potential customers. A lot of these trials are originally from China..

Yes it’s really bad, and they are very persistent. The reason we say scam is how they get you to purchase from them. They tell you it’s free once they get you to take it they try to force you to buy it. It’s very dishonest.

@@Livingtheglobe agreed that it is wrong way to do it, not all but some are in a dire straight situation. A lot of these trials ran away from the communist China and some villages do not have school or neccessary means.
