  • The AYANEO Air Pro is a the premium version of their non-Pro Air model, an impressively thin OLED handheld PC with a larger battery and the hefty Ryzen 7 5825U CPU. In this video we'll test it out and see whether or not the performance, battery, and color upgrades warrant this "upgraded" price point.

    Really appreciate the solid and detailed reviews you do. I really think that I am leaning toward the AYN unit, but skittish to pull the trigger with the length before it would get in my hands. When it comes to stuff that it isn't capable of I would just use Moonlight or the likes connecting to my beefy emulation PC or main PC for Steam related games.

      @Dracossaint ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tried playing with the TDP slider and for the most part its pretty accurate all by itself after a update specifically for that came out.
      it limits itself pretty well when it doesn't need the extra juice and going below that most of the time caused stability issues.

      Because Steam Deck has control over the whole O.S. it scales better for the game you are running.
      In my experience very few cases adjusting TDP by itself gives extra battery (limiting screen refresh rate or FPS is enough), because it is already adjusting Wattage to usage (Linux is awesome!).
      Nonetheless, I agree it would be interesting to see that in the video so more people are aware. :)

Battery life is secondary for me because I don't think I'm really going to play it on the go so I'll just keep it plugged in. A few months ago I bought the Onexplayer 5800u 2tb model and I'm happy with it along side my Steam Deck. The bigger 8.4 inch screen was the main selling point and I'm also able to run everything through Bigbox as a frontend and not use Windows 11. I bought a 1tb sdcard which is mostly used for emulation and I can play my non Steam library and incompatible Steam Deck games from this device. I think Aya needs to realize there is a market for handheld devices with larger screens.

Using Moonlight rather than natively running games installed on the device sidesteps pretty much EVERY issue this device has so I'm hyped. And since this is the only handheld with an OLED, that makes every other handheld irrelevant for me haha. I haven't gotten my Steam Deck yet, and while I don't like it's form factor(way big), I'm not looking to pay such a high premium for less performance and a smaller screen. I know there are several comparable devices out now or down the road that will give the SD a run for it's money, but until one is close in price to the base model of $400, I'm happy to use it until one does(more than likely, it will be the SD2).
    There's for sure a market for devices like this, as well as the ones with bigger screens etc, but for me they all come down to value Vs. what you get for your dollars, and I've never been one to need the latest and greatest just because. I'll use my deck and while I won't like the size, it will get the job done until something price comparative reaches the market that's better. Good to see all the competition though, as that's how we get there quicker rather than later, as these handhelds are a dime a dozen now with no end in sight.

I also don't want to go back to LED screens after being spoiled by my Switch OLED. I'll take a power hit to have those things, as my main rig has me covered on that end anyway. Yes, having it be over 1k is very expensive, but that's the price of these kinds of things when the company doesn't take a loss on the hardware. People are conditioned by the prices of mainstream devices like the PS5 and Series X, but if they weren't taking losses just to get those consoles into homes, they'd be charging 800-900 dollars instead.

    But with xenia every 360 game stutters like crazy regardless if I'm running the highest tdp of 18w and latest video drivers and using canary not one 360 game works properly unfortunately.

    To everyone that is disregarding this device because of the steam deck, just a few things:
    1. Steam Deck is not available for purchase everywhere. And it's not looking like it will be available anytime soon, or even this year.
    2. When the steam deck becomes available, the price will easily go to over 700 USD for the cheapest model in a lot of countries. For example, the PS5 costs 750 USD and the switch oled goes for 500 USD, and I live right next to the US.
    3. The Aya Neo Air is available for purchase right now and has worldwide shipping.
    So that's pretty much why the Steam Deck argument doesn't hold, specially if you don't live in the US. This device is a great alternative, and I am looking forward for what Aya brings next.

I love my deck but after using the Ayaneo I can confirm the extra cores make a difference in a lot of games depending on what your after . Emulation yes needs a good GPU but you need a good cpu . Also frame time and frame pacing is a huge deal breaker in some games . Overwatch plays super smooth on the Ayaneo compared to the deck . Yes it’s expensive but worth every penny . Persona 5 golden just looks and performs better on the Ayaneo . It’s all personal taste
