Hey Adam. totally unrelated but i'd just like to fact check. so the celtics are currently over the 2nd apron. Saw an article written by Sam Quinn that we could actually avoid the 2nd apron this year by dumping PP and springer then signing 3 cheap players (the advice was at least a couple of rookie scale contracts) to fill out the roster this year. This would delay 2nd apron penalties by 1Y. Just checking with you if you think this is plausible.
Recent sub BTW. keep up the good work!

      Hey man!
Sam Quin is excellent, and he's a great guy! I'm no cap expert (my focus is Xs and Os), but looking at the Spotrac breakdown, I see he could be right. The Celtics have $208.6 million committed for next season.
That's $4.7 million over the second apron. You could probably duck it if needed, and I'm sure Sam has done the math there. However, I don't think they would move on from PP after the season he had. Springer could potentially be moved, etc, but bringing back 3 vet min guys could upset the balance of the roster.
There's definitely a world where they could make those adjustments, but based on the recent contracts given out and the moves the front office has made, I think they're living with the second arpon -- of course, that could totally change over the next few weeks

@@TaylorTalksCeltics yeah its not just springer. PP has to be dumped too. but yeah tough to move PP after the season he had.
personally, it would take the sting away IMO because we have baylor who could potentially step in and i would consider it if it keeps the core together an extra year (as Sam insinuate in the article). And IMO i could be swayed towards doing the deal if there's a good amount of picks coming back for those 2. like maybe a couple of 1sts and 1 2nd from charlotte (under the cap team).
but yes i agree with your assessment. I think Brad's more concerned about the upcoming season than the future and wants to make sure we have the best pieces to repeat over ducking the 2nd apron penalties for a year.
1 last question: any idea why there's a hold-up on that last roster spot and signing tillman? its like they've brought everyone back except him and i dont see any rumors linking tillman to other teams.

@@TheRobversion1 No idea: Re-Tillman. I came into this offseason believing it was either him or Luke, and not both. I'm unsure if he would want such a minimal role for another year. I'm operating under the assumption Brad is waiting out the market to see what's available on a vet min...If Tillman is still unattached, they have his bird rights to get something done. Otherwise, we might see a ring chaser fill that spot

@@TaylorTalksCeltics yup. which circles back to your theis vid. i personally like theis or dario saric if tillman isnt re-signed.

@@TheRobversion1 I'm on board with both of them, to be fair. Crazy how the 15th roster spot is the only major talking point. We, as Celtics fans, have been spoiled recently haha
