You know who i miss? @landonlakes4782 :(
If the panic button is to make a springer trade, i'm pressing. They've gotten enough leeway. Its done. Especially if the goal is the 1st seed. That 1st seed looks out of reach now. Theres alot of concerns outside of the defense. Hauser looks bad out there. Especially on defense. Indy attacked him repeatedly. Walsh looked better. Jrue, KP, Kornet, JB, Al and Sam have all missed at least 5 games. Health is now a concern. And no, giving min to walsh, springer, etc isnt the solution. at least not if we want to keep winning games when at least 2 of the starters are out. The bench needs help.
He’s just tinkering with rotations don’t think he’s doing too much at all gotta remember we’re still in good standing. He probably finds something that works and stick w that come all star break and turn on the gas
I agree on the championship habits part. But I have faith that Joe's philosophy will overcome that. Very sloppy month for sure, but I dont think it will be us having to wait until the playoffs for them to lock in. I think it'll happen before then.
I think they will lock in, too. I do think part of the ability to build those habits comes from having a healthy rotation, though -- but that's out of everyone's hands. Hopefully, we see a shift in mentality on the defensive end, as Mazzulla starts opening his playbook, because the C's aren't running nearly as much stuff as last season. I, like you, continue to have faith, though!
Agreed with you over Billy. I think JBs best as a play finisher. Sure, develop JB as a playmaker but make it his secondary role. No need to have him bring down the ball. IMO when JT is not on the floor, the primary playmaker should be d.white. hes just better at it. He makes better reads and is a more natural pg. I'd rather see more JB post-ups, off-ball cuts and catching the ball going downhill/off the move. I dont like JB leading the 2nd unit. I like JB better with the starters. My concern level is a 7-8. We havent beaten a .500 team for how long now?

Should we worry? Absolutely. 1. 3pt shooting is down. 2. FT shooting is down. 3. KP cant stay healthy. 4. Sam looks like a shell of himself. 5. We had a 6-5 record in a supposed to be easy dec. Jan just gets tougher. Should we panic? No. Should changes be made? Yes. 1. trade springer to get a more reliable bench wing until sam recovers. 2. maybe switch up the rotations mins wise. 3. have contingencies for when the 3s arent falling
Hey! First of all, please don't think i'm ignoring you in the gameday threads on my newsletter...I open those up for subscribers to chat among themselves :) Second of all, I agree. Lots of issues right now, most of which you've laid out above, and some of which we discuss in the video. I still think there's plenty of time to turn things around, but health plays a huge role. It's also clear that losing Oshae and Svi has hurt the deep bench depth. Jordan Walsh is NOT the answer, at least not right now.
@@TaylorTalksCelticsyeah theres more guys that arent "ready." Walsh, springer, tillman, baylor, jd... all not ready. Even neemi has been highly inconsistent. Its Drew who has performed the best out of that crew so far but i expect him to be inconsistent as well. We need a more rotation level talent. Walsh needs to get reps in maine. Hes regressing again. We're just not blowing teams as much as last season. Rebounding has been inconsistent. Recently, ball security is an issue that has reared its ugly head again. Defense has been an issue as well. There's indeed enough time to turn it around but they have to start plugging those holes soon. The 1st seed (the objective IMO) is getting more out of reach.
Totally, agree. I think its a fine line, Re: developmental talent. Part of the reality of being a second-apron team. But, they need to choose who is getting minutes with the primary roster and stick with it. But, it's clear the depth behind Hauser (who isn't himself) is lacking, and that should be an area to try and fix leading upto the trade deadline
@@TaylorTalksCeltics yeah i'd try to fixt that now so whoever the new guy can develop chemistry/learn the system earlier. I wouldve delayed tbh until the trade deadline but gjven this dec thats worrying, the Cs clearly need an injection of new energy and depth. It was easier to develop talent like neemi last season given the blowouts. We just cant provide that to the end of bench guys this season. Not as many as late game 20+ point leads. Jrue's regression as a shooter is hurting us alot. I'd rather walsh get consistent reps in maine at this point and go back to springer (attempt to showcase him for trades) since he cant play in the g-league anyway.
pathetic and embarassing showing from the Cs. Cs are a .500 team in their last 10 games. The 3pt shooting the past 10 games is a concern. Joe needs a contingency plan when the 3s dont fall. Shouldnt have lost to a heavily injured magic team. There was no sense of urgency and they clearly underestimated the magic. This team needs a shot in the arm, a shifting energy. PP hasnt played well the past couple of games and hauser wasnt himself. I cant wait for a springer trade. We need another guy to account for games like this when one of the starters is out and 1 doesnt look like himself. Bad loss. Hopefully they bounce back and beat the sixers. This was a sad lead up to christmas.

IMO winning should matter. i miss the days when the MVP at least came from a top 3 team. before the 2010s harden/westbrook era of stats>winning. So now all the awards are a joke because everyone stat pads, no one values sacrifice or winning and losers end up winning awards. my suggestions to improve these awards are: 1. set a high games played minimum. like 65+ games at minimum. Did you know tatum is the only modern player in the top 40 of nba history in games played percentage? Dennis johnson is #1. Tatum is #6. 2. set a conference rank or winning percentage requirement for someone to qualify. If conference rank, i'd say you'd have to be from a top 4 team in a conference and have a winning record to qualify for any award. This also solves the whole "d.white/evan mobley should be an all-star problem." P.S. its harder to put up stats on a good team because you have to share the ball/stats more.
I think that Tatum's demeanor has something to do with it. He isn't brash or loud and he doesn't try to bring attention to himself. He is all about the team and how to get them involved. He knows that he can score a ton of points and not win as much. But he wants to win and wants his teammates help in order to do that. And defensively, he is better than any of the guys on that list. He really truly is a complete player
i'd say giannis is better than tatum on defense but yes 1000% agreed on everything else.

Nah dont do that! Hahaha. Drew is still eligible for another 2-way. Lets maximize that. If we like JD, hes the better pick as hes not eligible for a 2-way next year. If we dont, i'd bring in external talent. Theres lots out there who are more ready now than springer, drew, jd and walsh. I'll share my current top 10: 1. toumani camara 2. keon ellis 3. Jalen wilson 4. Noah clowney 5. Jonathan mogbo 6. Amir Coffey 7. Torrey Craig 8. Ben Sheppard 9. Johnny Juzang 10. Brice Sensabaugh honorable mentions: cam whitmore, trendon watford
Whitmore would be my favorite from this list! I’m not high on JD and he would run into the same issues Springer has, tbf! I do wonder what the front office will do, and whether moving Soringer without bringing someone back (attaching draft picks) is worth the $16 million it would save in tax penalties
@@TaylorTalksCeltics whitmore is just rotting in the gleague coming from a good rookie season. The main difference this year is tari eason is back and playing like an all-world defender. I'm not high on JD either but its because i dont think we need more guards given how much the Js handle the ball and because baylor is being groomed in maine to run point. I personally think its worth a 2nd rd pick, if its the 2025 or 2026 one, as we have so many players locked up/al aint retiring yet, that we dont have space for rookies next year (unless springer is gone). As we saw this offseason, we couldnt even add a single FA.
@@TheRobversion1 First of all, you've inspired today's newsletter article, so thank you! I'm also on board with trading Springer for an upside young guy. I like Sheppard too, but don't think that is too easy to get done. Overal though, outside of Peterson, I think we're on the same page here.
@@TaylorTalksCeltics cool! is it a surprise or can you tell me why? Do i get a shoutout? Haha. Yeah sheppard is outside springer's price range. On peterson, if he continues to develop, i wouldnt mind the celtics giving him a standard contract towards the end of next year. I think next year is drew's last year of 2W eligibility.
@@TheRobversion1 Haha, yeah you get a shout out! And because I was struggling for something to write about, but you gave me some ideas for a trade primer piece :)

Lonnie should make it because they could always trade him down the line, like they did Stevens last season
@@Roobeye he hasn’t played more than a few minutes each game in preseason. If he doesn’t get many minutes tonight, I’d assume it’s over
Knicks rebounding and winning 50/50 balls is what demoralizes teams. But They're gonna need healthy robinson or get new backup center imo
if we talking just talent 1.JT 2 KP 3 JB 4 Kat 5.Brunson 6.White 7.Jrue 8.Mikal 9.OG 10. Hart
😂😂😂
bobby marks is a known celtics hater. Same with RJ. Perk is just disappointing and should have his celtics ring revoked. if i were to rank the knicks and celtics starters: 1. jt 2. jb 3. brunson 4. KP 5. kat 6. d.white 7. jrue 8. mikal 9. OG 10. hart I'd put mitchell robinson over any celtics bench player, but the next 3 are all celtics (al, sam, pp) before we get to mcbride and payne.
I agree with these rankings, to be fair. It's pretty much how I have it, too. I would be willing to debate KAT and KP if push came to shove. As for the media, agreed on all accounts - a lot is being said about the C's with very little facts to back up such strong claims
@@TaylorTalksCeltics fair enough on KAT. I value defense alot however and thats why i have KP ahead. All advanced metrics also put KP ahead of KAT: WS, VORP, BPM, +/-, net, etc. KAT is the better rebounder, passer and shooter while being more available. KP is better at defense, utility (screening, intangibles, etc), inside scoring and spacing (longer range than KAT). knicks fans who say KAT is better than KP simply just dont value defense enough. I value defense at a 50/50 split. This is why KP is winning the advanced metrics. defense matters.
You rock, Tim. Great podcast!

Knicks in 6
Knick fan here. I come in peace ✌🏿 Are the Celtics ready? 🤜🏿💥🤕
There is one factor to consider. Brunson has that clutch gene and elevates his game by far in the playoffs. I trust him way more than Tatum or Brown to go straight bananas in a series
JT and JB will not be as effective against the defensive tandem of OG and Mikal. Also Boston has no game changing role player like Josh Hart. If KAT shows up in his 2024 form it is the Knicks over Celtics.
It’s still Celtics in 5
@@QuietStormP yes sir! 💪

We’ll get a sample of the battle game 1 of the season. Going to be a hell of a season fellas
@@johnny154 I’m excited for it! I’m not gonna buy too much stock from game 1, but I do like the idea of setting the tone and taking the mental advantage early
I'm a Cs fan here, not counting out bucks not counting out Philadelphia either, and if healthy, i think phila are the 2nd best team in the east. embiid is still 2nd best player on the east after giannis so 1-4 gonna be tough and if this is a contract year for butler while spo is the best coach out of all 4 teams it's gonna be a fight, which is y cs needed to win this year cause as Kevin Hart would say shit just got real
@@byranttaylor1535 you can count out philly. How many iterations of partners have we seen around embiid? do you honestly think george and this new team is good enough to break the celtics curse on embiid? For context, embiid hasnt beaten boston in a regular AND playoff series for 7 or 8Y now. Thats why he hates boston so much and he willingly says boston always beats them. Philly has the celtics curse. Worse than Kyrie. Philly aint beating boston while Embiid is still there.
Don’t count my heat out
@@byranttaylor1535 appreciate you watching and stopping by in the comments, man! I’ve got the Knicks over Philly (PG and Embiid injury history) but I do agree, it’s gonna be a dogfight this year, man
@@JudahiamKng i'd say the heat are the biggest threat to the celtics. For non-basketball reasons. Philly doesnt pose a threat. Milwaukee? Depends. NY? a threat. Orlando, cleveland? Nope. Pacers? Joe knighted them as the hardest opponents last season so i'll put them in. To rank in order; 1. Miami 2. NY 3. indy 4. Milwaukee 5. Orlando (can switch with mil) 6. Cleveland 7. Philly
@TheRobversion1 I agree, but how many iterations have been around jt and jb? We have been favorites long b4 the I.T. days and with this specific team, we've done it with the help of course of injuries. eventually shit gonna happen because embiid is the best player on the east after giannis and if healthy when it comes to Philadelphia and knicks I am not gonna just blatantly say give me 6ers just because for the last 7 years while having horford they gonna b easy. Book it! Hell na yes, we've been in their way just as every team has been in ours. But Paul George and the emergence of maxie haahaaa! cs fans gotta stop undermining them. Paul George still is arguably one of the best two-way players who is 6,8 or 6,9 definitely a 20pt per game scorer same as maxie, if history is y we want 6ers fine but talent wise all 3 teams Philadelphia celtics knicks and again bucks and miami every team has something better than the other let's be honest here
Lol how can the Knicks defense possibly take a hit when Kat is a better defender than JR and our wings are both great defenders and Deuce is a better player than Donte.
Let’s be real Brunson already was cooking Boston last year when everybody was injured,so nobody on Boston is stopping him but OG and Bridges can clamp one of those stars and if u put those little players on Kat,he’s gonna kill em in our system.
Brunson cooked em for like 40 I think
Minnesota had no choice they couldn't keep Kat Rudy and Edward's
@@YuriBoris-s8u they went to the WCF, had everyone under contract, they could have run it back this year and made some decisions next summer. Blew it up too soon
@@TaylorTalksCeltics it was the 2nd apron. I think they were resigned to be 2nd apron this season but they didnt want to be shackled nezt season. Getting randle gives them options. They do well enough? They extend randle and stay in the 2nd apron. They dont do well enough? They let randle walk (or sign and trade) to get under the 2nd apron.
@@TheRobversion1 even then, nothing stops them moving someone next summer. You said yourself, they’re resigned to being a 2nd apron team this year. Easy to move Kat next summer
@@TaylorTalksCeltics true. This was more of a 2 bird with 1 stone move. Not only do they get divincenzo to shore up the bench and a pick to replenish their reserves, they also get randle. A more switchable 4 than Kat. The GM realized the road in the west runs through dallas and OKC now. Not denver. They were structured to best denver. They were never going to beat okc or dallas with this structure. They needed a more switchable big option. Denver is weaker now so it was the right move. Best to build the team to counter dallas/okc.
where are your accents from?
@@777VIV Tim is from Boston. Adam is from the UK.
They really shouldn't. All of the Boston starters are one tier above the Knicks, let's be real. People will say Brunson is good, but in my opinion he ranks 3rd against Tatum and Brown. And the numbers and accolades show exactly that. We're coming off a Finals where Jaylen locked up Luka without any chance of a breakout. Celtics up ☘️
So jrue is better than Brunson and KP better than KAT 😂 bro you bias 😂😂
@@trustoryj6476 KP IS better than Kat. The main matchup advantages NY has is brunson over holiday and robinson over kornet/tillman (if healthy). Otherwise boston has the matchup advantage in 7/9 spots: white>hart Jb>mikal Jt>OG KP>Kat Al>achiuwa Pp>mcbride Sam>payne

I think the Wolves ruined their title chances this year (unless Ant becomes top 5 this year, but I dont see that happening). While they should be thinking about their future too, this is too much too early. I feel bad for Wolves fans.
@@PattyJ596 they werent getting past dallas and okc anyway with that configuration anywau. Going after randle, a more switchable 4, was the right move. The road in the west now runs through either dallas or okc. Minny was built to stop denver, who is weaker now.

Who should be worried about the knicks are the pacers, bucks and sixers. Especially sixers fans as if they get bounced by the knicks again by the 2nd rd, there will be serious questions as to whether they can win with embiid. Thibs is also probably getting at least 1 of the core pieces (like robinson) injured again by the time the playoffs roll around. not alot of depth behind that good starting 5. my depth projection for them: 1-brunson, mcbride 2-hart, payne (small) 3-mikal 4-OG, achiuwa 5-KAT, robinson (injured) 10th man- morris they are thin at the wings off the bench. their starting 5 looks strong but the bench depth leaves alot to be desired. not alot of shooting off the bench either.
And the same can be said about porzingis. Besides the celtics depth isn't something to be happy about😂
@@StevenTorres.NYC-CA not really unless you're simply talking about injuries. Porzingis is a top 5 defensive big. Possibly top 3. Kats defense has nothing on porzingis. Celtics depth is also fine. Hauser for example would start on a bunch of teams. They have enough bodies. Guys like lonnie walker wouldnt even get to see the floor outside of iniury, garbage time or load management.
@TheRobversion1 only point you're correct on is that porzingis is a better defensive player . KAT will force him out the paint so it will force boston to defend differently.
@@StevenTorres.NYC-CA not really. I'm sure you're a knicks fan because you havent been aware of how boston runs its defensive alignment. So anyway Kp will NEVER guard Kat. Most likely tatum or holiday will guard kat. Given that kat was bullied by PJ washington, i'd take that matchup. KP will guard josh hart or whichever of mikal/OG is the corner shooter. And i:m sure i'm correct too on getting at least 1 of the knicks players injured and the general best 9/10 (rotation) of the knicks.
@@TheRobversion1Kat does everything better than KP other than block shots.
I dont care for JT winning MVP. all i care about is he fixes his jumper and wins another chip.
Here comes the stupid Celtics media with their negative videos about their own team smh. Y’all suck!! All Celtics media sucks!! Clowns!!
I'd rather they sign him outright to the 15th spot on a non-guaranteed vet min with a late guarantee date while they work out possible salary dump trades for walsh or springer for a pick.
LWJ is overrated only by casuals, both in real-life and in Fantasy. He sucks
To answer the title, Yes. He is overrated by Cs fans. Hes not taking PP or Sams spot. At best, hes a 10th-12th man on the team which means hes a situational, injury or garbage time guy. Will he make the roster? Yes. Unless proven otherwise hes better than the current 12-17 men on the roster (jaden, walsh, baylor, jd, drew, anton). This is reinforced by the fact that jaden is on an expiring with no extension on the table and has a 4M contract (TAXES) that shouldnt be paid for a 12th man on the roster.
I agree with everything here. I do think he spends some time in Maine before having his deal converted later in the year, though - save some tax money and develop him in the system while keeping flexibility
@@TaylorTalksCeltics i think we have a different approach to how they save money. I'd go with the Luke Kornet approach. 1. Sign lonnie to the 15th man slot but on a non-guaranteed vet min whose guarantee date is closer to feb, like luke'd previous contract. 2. Play lonnie and jaden early in the season. No maine. This is to see and compare who the celtics want to keep for the stretch run. 3. once the guarantee date is approaching or they've decided, they can either cut lonnie (non-guaranteed, no cap impact) or trade jaden to a team with tpe for a pick + guarantee lonnie's contract.
@@TheRobversion1 you guys cant be serious. Lonnie is significantly better than Jaden. Jaden is like 3-4 years away from being a rotation player
@@prime_time95 thats fair. on offense. on defense, jaden is superior. with that said, neither is breaking into the rotation (top 9), thus i answer yes to overrated because some Cs fans think Lonnie is overtaking pp or sam (or worse d.white and jrue) in the rotation.
