Hi Niky, which is a better buy, this Vios 1.5 G MT or stretching your budget a few more and you can get the more powerful and more refined Corolla Altis 1.5 G MT?? Thanks.
Choose corolla if you want more powerfull engine. But you will lack features that Vios G MT have. But corolla is more reliable. (in my own opinion)
Vios OMR + seats for 5 + aircon + silencer + sound system - rollbar = Vios 1.5 G MT

It's actually 2NR-FE engine, 1NR-FE is the 1.3 :)

Hello from 2024. Does Toyota still sell the 1.5G manual? It's still on their website but sometimes sites aren't promptly updated. I'm guessing this would be a fun, relatively affordable "project car." :D

The front fascia of Vios resembles Toyota Altis.
The facia is 90% identical to the yaris aka vios hatchback how does it compare ? yaris or this ?
If you buy the top of the line vios I'd rather choose the honda city or honda civic whose price is around 1.1 million
I bet this one ay hindi nag click sa mga taxi company. Halos wala pakong nakikita na 2018 Vios na taxi since it's release sa Pinas
Rob the Pizza Boi I’ve seen a couple. I think mas malaki ang impact ng mga ride-hailing app at ang disappearance ng conventional taxis as an investment for the long term sa kakaunting models na nakikita natin sa daan. Add to that the TRAIN tax that makes brand-new car ownership a burden, and you’ve got people looking used or not entering the taxi business at all.
Its 153k to upgrade from E to G, which is way more than before, and probably just to much for most potential buyers in this cost sensitive segment. So taxi operators will buy the J and most private buyers the E.
1.3E MT would be my pick. Solid value for that little money.
@NiKy Tamayo Agree. I kind of wish, they gave the E model the 1,5 liter engine and reserved the 1,3 for the J. I think, most private buyers would appreciate the extra torque and accept the slight increase in fuel consumption. Most competitors already have 1,4 or 1,5 liter engines as standard, and a 20 year old Corolla GLi has a 1,6. I used to own that car, and its not like, it felt overly powerfull, when you loaded it up with people and luggage.
@@fundiver198 yeah. Subcompacts in the Vios class are now at a size where you need more power.
That said, a lot of it is throttle and engine programming. The Vios has a little too much delay, likely to counter the poor economy complaints regarding the previous model.
Its the Base for taxi operators. Already c0mplete. 🙂

People tend to under-appreciate all the safety features - until they get into a car crash. All I hear them say now, is "Honda City" ...which is a very good car, but it's a car that does NOT get these safety features until the top trim.
You don't need a lot of these safety stuff if you're a careful and attentive driver. So I'd say the Vios G isn't worth the money IMO
@@mrjppizza6507 That's a dangerous fallacy because a lot of accident scenarios happen due to irresponsible driving behaviour of other drivers on the road which even a careful driver can not always avoid.

@@mrjppizza6507 The safety feature of vios are available down to the base model. So yeah, the G and G prime versions are ripoffs. You'll need to pay twice the money for what? alloy rims, push start, steering audio controls, fog lights, and all non driving essential upgrades wth!

Mazda 2 is way better than this car but because it's Toyota, people who don't understand much about driving driving dynamics will always prefer Toyota even it's a boring car according to Petrolheads and motor journalist.
Mazda still dont offer side airbags and stability control across the range though, and I think, the interior is also a bit more cramped. I like the Mazda 2, but the Vios is a more practical choise for most. I would pick the Mazda 2 hatch over the Yaris any time though.
@@fundiver198 Heck yeah. The Mazda2 is hands-down the best driving car in the class today. But the back seat is not practical for a family or for TNV/Taxi/fleet use.
In actuality, people who don’t know about cars are those who don’t appreciate the level of over-engineering that Toyota does on drivetrain components. People buy these cars because they’re bulletproof and are smart investments in the long run. Journalists have the balls to criticise “driving dynamics” because they’re not the ones putting down the cash for the cars they review. I’d reckon any journalist worth their salt would buy this car if it were their money over a Mazda any day of the week.
@@reyhernandez1920 So you don't appreciate the other features and engineering of the other brands? Toyota sticks to what they are known for which is reliability and basic and practicality and it seems like they don't innovate other kinds of stuffs because they don't wanna take the risk of innovations. Most of the toyota cars in our country are made in indonesia or its a rebadged daihatsu.
@@reyhernandez1920 If you know about cars you can appreciate the other brands that take risk of innovating their cars. Isn't the new 10 speed transmisison a amazing engineering? Or sky-activ of the mazda a engineering? Or the honda's iVTEC?
