These good ole solid state ignition bikes of the 80s are like steady horses. Faithful dogs... Always ready to go. Timeless motorcycles. Keep these gems going. Tons of life left. Already proven that as is. Love em!
Thanks for the positive feedback. I love these bikes. One of my most memorable rides on this bike is riding from Illinois all the way to Tennessee. More than 400 miles in 2 days. What a ride!
Great bikes- this is best of the early 80s Honda XL's and XR's IMO. The 80-81 was the same engine but had 5 speed and the chain driven balancers. Yours should be 6 speed, upgraded in many ways and has gear driven balancer. The next version was the RFVC engines- good engines but I hated that they had twin carbs for the first few years. The 82/83 was the sweat spot until the later 80's when they went back to single carb. Yours is a nice looking example. Keep clean oil and clean air and it will last you for ever.
That’s a lot of miles but the bike is sweet. Mine has the same issue with the exhaust. I tapped a pipe onto it to make it quieter as I do more street riding.
@@richardvalitalo3670 its unfortunate but I pay for a service for licensed music and they don't have Eagles, Tom Petty etc. I will look for another music service

Why the super loud techno? Maybe the sound of the bike?
One of my first videos being a noob! If you watch my others, you will notice much improvement. Thanks

bro, for what its worth, people probably wanna hear it as it drives.
Ill keep that in mind.
It's one of very first videos I made. Since then, I'm much better
Great motorcycle I have the same one but original 1300 km. Everything Is still original on mine.
I just picked up a 1982. Same weld on the exhaust. My guess is they removed or replaced the packing?
Yes, it was probably rusted guts. I think mine was replaced and modified along the journey.

👍👍👍
Thanks smooth Lee
try adjusting the valves for that ticking sound. It will reduce it some.
Note taken. Thank you
My bike has the same issue with the exhaust.
