Hbox being #1 in Melee isn't killing Melee, the toxic and obnoxious community is. Seriously, how many top 25 players are Puff mains? How many top 25 are Fox mains? I honestly wouldn't watch a whole lot of comp. smash if it wasn't for unorthodox players like Hbox, aMSa, Armada's Peach, and Plup's Samus. But I guess everybody just wants Fox dittos anymore.
Having like someone like hbox in the smash community is a necessity. He's basically what zero was. Everyone wants to work harder to beat the best. Once zero retired smash 4 kinda went meh, there was no final boss anymore. I actually really like hbox as a person but Every one should at least respect his play and place in the community.
9:15 This is kind of thing that makes me like Hbox. Leffen picks dreamland before Hbox is even ready, trying to not even give him time to breath and refocus. Hbox takes it in stride, questioning it for a second, rolling with it, and with a smile of understanding, beating Leffen anyway. Hbox mental fortitude is one of the greatest if not the greatest in the FGC. He doesn't get shadow relmed like M2K, Mango, Leffen, etc. He pushes through more hate than anyone, and he keeps going for the win anyway like his life depends on it, only finally letting it break him after the set is over, but not before.

It was just the fact that he just instantly went into it without waiting for Hbox to be ready, or even waiting for Hbox to select it himself in case for some reason he didn't want it. It was an obvious little jab of "fuck you I know what you're going to pick, you don't get to even take a breath". Then Hbox immediately realizes, laughs, and gets right back into it. The ability to shrug off little stuff like that, something that could tilt many players enough to throw a stock, game, or hell even the whole set, is really amazing. Hbox mental fortitude is always something I admire about him.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Jigglypuff isn't broken. HBox is a great player and it took him years of losing in so many tournaments to make it where he is now, and he never gave up playing Puff. No other Puff has achieved what he has achieved.

I didn't dislike the video because my favorite player lost. I disliked it because *Hungrybox specifically*, the biggest slimeball I've ever seen in my life, won it, and assaulted us with more of his disgusting words and presence for far too long at the ending section of this video (any amount of time greater than 0 is too much).
Puff is broken and if you cant see how good a 1 frame kill is with only full combo punish (with correct di) is then youre probably nkt good at fighting games, people don’t pick her up because grinding her is incredibly boring and also people dislike this character which would lead to disliking you. And its a game not JUST a game , where does the just come from ??? This game and community has literally pulled people out of depression and changed the lives of thousands that play it. Many of the experiences people have had at these events have now given people the strength to wake up every morning and see that there is more to life then whatever put them in the bad spot. God, the clash between box fans and haters is so petty and overbearing that it’s muffling people like me who just think melee is sick. Damn right! Melee is so aesthetically pleasing to watch. Look at a Falcon v. Marth set and tell me this isn't some high tier ART. The animations, sound design, physics, and the history, all combine to make one of the best fighting games ever made. I recently saw a video from a pro Overwatch player where he said Overwatch wasn't fun to play in its current state. Meanwhile melee is still going strong and has aged beyond well. Just goes to show that this game has something special.

Seeing Mango at this tournament having the best temperament AND mental composure that he's had in probably A YEAR+... Guys we got a bright horizon in front of us FULL of challenges, (not to mention Banana's COMPLETELY shifting my vies on how cool Ice Climbers can be). Seeing Mango that fired up just gives me so much hope for how hard our Heroes are going to push it come 2019. Great Set!!!! Leffen is amazing to watch especially versus ClutchBox. I've changed my mindset around people who main Jiggs/IC's. It's easy to hate on them when I'm playing bad. It's better to focus on how I can win and learn the matchup.

I really wish this had been Hungrybox vs Mango [L]. This felt super impersonal given the background of these two players - and then Leff went and got kinda handled by him. Mango/Hungrybox would've been more meaningful given their long and storied history, and I feel like Mango would've been able to at least get the reset, but maybe that's just my bias showing...
In general the couch had no clue about rankings/head to stats. Chillin was confident that Wizzrobe never beat Leffen even though he 3-0d him last December.
The summit couch is different. Many other tournaments they have notes but I think most of this is adlibbed and homie speak. I don’t know where the comparison came in either for Leffen to be #1 either but SaveAsUntitled thought it would be too. There were several who thought Leffens 2 super majors would outweigh Hungrybox consistency and head to head. I don’t get it personally

@@willmalony7712 She is nothing like Melee in Smash 4. No one is. The closest would probably be Marth but he is still massively different. Smash 4 puff has no range, is supper slow moves, has no combos, and rest doesn't kill till 60 +. Nothing like Melee.

Congrats to HBox- one of my favourite competitors to watch since I first got into Smash, and great to see him still making waves. Props to Leffen too- it's been unreal to see how far he's risen in the last year, and cool how close he's come to that #1 spot. Really great summit overall- great sets (I think Axe vs. Amsa might still be my fave), a wicked run by Bananas, and great coordination and content by the organizers. I wish we could get this more than once per year.

I can understand if you don't like his playstyle but they play this game to win. God melee would be so much worse without hbox. No one likes the childish bs that smash players have, but there is a reason why people don't prefer hbox, and as far as being a childish competitor he has also shown that he is up there. I think people preferring there favorite competitor is fine, trashing on the ones you don't like isn't healthy for the community period. So you should double check hbox's past actions before you give him so much praise. In that regard I think out of the gods m2k, Armada, and ppmd were by far the healthiest influence to the community, not hbox.

But for both you can find top players in the community commenting on their bad behavior, I know Armada made a video about it with leffen a couple months ago and there have been many more people who have spoken up against his character and that is fairly easy to find. I don't disagree with how he he's changed and I think that's great, but there are a good chunk of people who have hated on leffen for the exact same behavior but he still didn't get the same kind of praise that die hard hbox fans give hbox. I see all too often hbox fans completely ignoring some of the stuff he's said or done as if to vouch for his character which I just find dumb, and for the people that give him hate I can't really argue much with their justification. If you're a person who thinks that people can change then I'm sure they don't mind hbox but for the people who don't then it's obvious that to them he has always been as you admitted he once was. And there are those who can't stand his playstyle sometimes which can be said about more than just him, I know m2k got a shit ton of hate for the time he has ledge camped against like westballs and I don't think it's unjustified to criticize someone for that, it just happens to be that the character hbox plays has the campyest playstyle in the game. Hbox being #1 in Melee isn't killing Melee, the toxic and obnoxious community is. Seriously, how many top 25 players are Puff mains? How many top 25 are Fox mains? I honestly wouldn't watch a whole lot of comp. smash if it wasn't for unorthodox players like Hbox, aMSa, Armada's Peach, and Plup's Samus. But I guess everybody just wants Fox dittos anymore.

Having like someone like hbox in the smash community is a necessity. He's basically what zero was. Everyone wants to work harder to beat the best. Once zero retired smash 4 kinda went meh, there was no final boss anymore. I actually really like hbox as a person but Every one should at least respect his play and place in the community.

9:15 This is kind of thing that makes me like Hbox. Leffen picks dreamland before Hbox is even ready, trying to not even give him time to breath and refocus.
Hbox takes it in stride, questioning it for a second, rolling with it, and with a smile of understanding, beating Leffen anyway.
Hbox mental fortitude is one of the greatest if not the greatest in the FGC. He doesn't get shadow relmed like M2K, Mango, Leffen, etc. He pushes through more hate than anyone, and he keeps going for the win anyway like his life depends on it, only finally letting it break him after the set is over, but not before.

It was just the fact that he just instantly went into it without waiting for Hbox to be ready, or even waiting for Hbox to select it himself in case for some reason he didn't want it. It was an obvious little jab of "fuck you I know what you're going to pick, you don't get to even take a breath".
Then Hbox immediately realizes, laughs, and gets right back into it. The ability to shrug off little stuff like that, something that could tilt many players enough to throw a stock, game, or hell even the whole set, is really amazing. Hbox mental fortitude is always something I admire about him.

I can’t believe so many of you are disliking this video just because your preferred player lost. I know most people were rooting for Mango to beat Leffen, but do you see a large number of dislikes? These are all just people, not supervillains. You think Puff is free, that Hungrybox doesn’t have to work hard for what he’s obtained? Then why don’t other players pick up Jigglypuff? That's exactly what I was thinking. Jigglypuff isn't broken. HBox is a great player and it took him years of losing in so many tournaments to make it where he is now, and he never gave up playing Puff. No other Puff has achieved what he has achieved.

I didn't dislike the video because my favorite player lost. I disliked it because *Hungrybox specifically*, the biggest slimeball I've ever seen in my life, won it, and assaulted us with more of his disgusting words and presence for far too long at the ending section of this video (any amount of time greater than 0 is too much).
Puff is broken and if you cant see how good a 1 frame kill is with only full combo punish (with correct di) is then youre probably nkt good at fighting games, people don’t pick her up because grinding her is incredibly boring and also people dislike this character which would lead to disliking you. And its a game not JUST a game , where does the just come from ??? This game and community has literally pulled people out of depression and changed the lives of thousands that play it. Many of the experiences people have had at these events have now given people the strength to wake up every morning and see that there is more to life then whatever put them in the bad spot. Now to see Hbox ruining this beautiful game that many people have found happiness with is disgusting. Seriously if you guys dont hear the things he says and how he trashes the community then try falling off his sack.

Damn right! Melee is so aesthetically pleasing to watch. Look at a Falcon v. Marth set and tell me this isn't some high tier ART. The animations, sound design, physics, and the history, all combine to make one of the best fighting games ever made. I recently saw a video from a pro Overwatch player where he said Overwatch wasn't fun to play in its current state. Meanwhile melee is still going strong and has aged beyond well. Just goes to show that this game has something special.

Honestly guys, I wouldn't dislike the vid even if it killed me not to. Hbox is 100% RIGHT. He IS the Villain of Melee. The Final Boss. Seeing Mango at this tournament having the best temperament AND mental composure that he's had in probably A YEAR+... Guys we got a bright horizon in front of us FULL of challenges, (not to mention Banana's COMPLETELY shifting my vies on how cool Ice Climbers can be). Seeing Mango that fired up just gives me so much hope for how hard our Heroes are going to push it come 2019. I really wish this had been Hungrybox vs Mango [L]. This felt super impersonal given the background of these two players - and then Leff went and got kinda handled by him. Mango/Hungrybox would've been more meaningful given their long and storied history, and I feel like Mango would've been able to at least get the reset, but maybe that's just my bias showing...

I don't know where this "battle for #1" talk was coming from. Even if Leffen had won here he's definitely not #1 ranked overall.
In general the couch had no clue about rankings/head to stats. Chillin was confident that Wizzrobe never beat Leffen even though he 3-0d him last December.
The summit couch is different. Many other tournaments they have notes but I think most of this is adlibbed and homie speak. I don’t know where the comparison came in either for Leffen to be #1 either but SaveAsUntitled thought it would be too. There were several who thought Leffens 2 super majors would outweigh Hungrybox consistency and head to head. I don’t get it personally

Congrats to HBox- one of my favourite competitors to watch since I first got into Smash, and great to see him still making waves. Props to Leffen too- it's been unreal to see how far he's risen in the last year, and cool how close he's come to that #1 spot.
Really great summit overall- great sets (I think Axe vs. Amsa might still be my fave), a wicked run by Bananas, and great coordination and content by the organizers. I wish we could get this more than once per year.

No one likes the childish bs that smash players have, but there is a reason why people don't prefer hbox, and as far as being a childish competitor he has also shown that he is up there. I think people preferring there favorite competitor is fine, trashing on the ones you don't like isn't healthy for the community period. So you should double check hbox's past actions before you give him so much praise. In that regard I think out of the gods m2k, Armada, and ppmd were by far the healthiest influence to the community, not hbox.

But for both you can find top players in the community commenting on their bad behavior, I know Armada made a video about it with leffen a couple months ago and there have been many more people who have spoken up against his character and that is fairly easy to find. I don't disagree with how he he's changed and I think that's great, but there are a good chunk of people who have hated on leffen for the exact same behavior but he still didn't get the same kind of praise that die hard hbox fans give hbox. I see all too often hbox fans completely ignoring some of the stuff he's said or done as if to vouch for his character which I just find dumb, and for the people that give him hate I can't really argue much with their justification. If you're a person who thinks that people can change then I'm sure they don't mind hbox but for the people who don't then it's obvious that to them he has always been as you admitted he once was. And there are those who can't stand his playstyle sometimes which can be said about more than just him, I know m2k got a shit ton of hate for the time he has ledge camped against like westballs and I don't think it's unjustified to criticize someone for that, it just happens to be that the character hbox plays has the campyest playstyle in the game. I hope people can stop being childish in general about everything but it seems both leffen and hbox set a precedent for being kinda mean spirited. Mang0 is too focused on streams, leffen cares more about dbfz, plup has the mind set of "it's impossible to beat him" which is beating him harder than hbox ever could, M2K is more focused on EVERYTHING. Then everyone else can't hold a candle to him.

@@willmalony7712 I have no issues with what Hbox said about how the community hates on players/characters, but I hated the Bayo incident. The Bayo incident was 2 immature little brats giving everyone in attendance an f u, which also was giving evo, the other competitors and the game itself an f u. It was so disrespectful to do that in grand finals, it makes it look like they don't care about being competitive or winning, they just wanted to make some in your face protest. Hbox was telling the community to stop trying to water down a nearly 20 year old game just because people aren't 100% entertained watching it. To stop hating someone you don't know personally just because they pick puff or bayo.

But whether its a community thing or just people in general no matter what he does and says people will still hate. Both Hbox and Leffen aren't afraid to speak their minds thats for sure lol.
