I lived in Balch in the late 00s in a single with a similar layout. I totally know about you mean about the four doors lined up along one wall! Everything looks exactly the same as when I was there (furniture, windows, sinks, fixtures) so thanks for documenting it in video form before the renovations! Given how much cold air flowed in through the windows I understand why they need an upgrade, although they were really pretty.
It's so cool meeting people who lived in Balch before me! It's really mind boggling to think about how old the building is, and how little of it has changed over the years!

Personally, I saw a lot of intelligent and hardworking HS friends get rejected from places that they were more than qualified for. College applications are a complicated and mysterious process....
I hope ED worked out for you :) but if it didn't, don't be too hard on yourself. College applications are a complicated and confusing process, and whether or not you are admitted does not determine your worth as a student or a person! @@wangkaidi heyy thanks for responding! Unfortunately, I got rejected. I don't understand why they rejected me. I'm the first applicant from my state and I've a decent profile. I've seen students with worse profiles get accepted
@@sourjyamoybarman6418 I'm sorry to that hear that :/ I'm sure you would've made a wonderful Cornell student. It's important to remember that colleges really only see a small snapshot of you as a person (you can only fit so much into the common app). Additionally a bunch of random factors that you have no control over can drastically affect your admission. A lot of it is luck really when it comes down to it--that the right admissions officer looked over you application or that you just happened to fill a specific student profile the school was looking for. I remember being in your shoes--it's a tough place to be. The culture around college admissions is incredibly toxic and it's easy to get lost in it. One rejection from one school doesn't mean anything, the process is far from over and you still have many great schools you can apply to! I wish you the best of luck :)

Yeah cornell is definitely quite costly, but I got a decent amount of aid which has helped a lot. Have you tried out the using the financial aid calculator on cornell's site to see what you might get?
