Dwarf Trophy - Zbrush Head Sculpt 36

  • Hello everyone!
    Here is another head sculpt. This time inspired by the trophy sculpts by @radziewiczsculptor on instagram. Tomek made some pretty cool faces and I thought why not do one of a dwarf (which is my favorite fantasy race).
    If you're interested in the files for 3D printing check out my MyMiniFactory page for this head and other figurines and miniatures: www.myminifactory.com/users/f...
    I used texturingxyz's alpha pack for the skin details and spend a lot of time sculpting the hair since that is what most of the sculpt consists of. The rendering at the end is done in blender with cycles. Hope you like it!

    It is really cool that you start of by making a skull. I usually try to make the shape instantly, which really is just the worse option when sculpting a head. But I never thought about it until I found this.

      I used the default 'dynawax 128' project that you can find in the lightbox so it was 128 for the resolution (it's scale dependend though)

    Fynn u dont have those days where u cant even make a hand like ur mental is completely blocked and some other days u resolve the same problem in like minutes?. Im experiencing this pattern when im stressed and i notice when im free to do anything ideas just flow like water under the bridge. Idk man something must be wrong with my brain. Another thing im noticing as long as i keep spending time in z brush is i can get good results when im not following any concept u know just going here and there and seeing what happens but when im pushed to do a certain let say character or creature and copy the same features im slow and i dunno how u can practice copying the same that your eyes are watching. IS like when u have a test the more the u study the more u get lost when the moments arrives i have better results studying everything few hours sooner before exam than spending tons of hours trying to force myself to remember the same happens with sculpt the more i watch what i have to do the more i get lost on how to do it maybe i should take a look let say to a quick shape and start from there using what my memory cached from the las peek.

    • @FynnGB
      @FynnGB  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man,
      I definitely have those days as well. I think it's quite common.
      I can try to go through how I deal with that: When I notice feeling fatigued and I can't motivate myself to work on a task but want to do my own stuff that comes into my mind I like to take a step back.
      I have to figure out if I'm exhausted or if I lost the sense of purpose in what I'm doing. If it's the first I need to take a break. If it's the second I have to figure out if I lost my purpose because I'm burned out (in which case I take a break as well) or if I can't find any meaning in it anymore. When it's a matter of not seeing any meaning in my task I try to have a small dialog with myself: What aspect of the task would genuinely be worth my time? No matter how small of a percentage that might be. Is there something that I know I should learn but am too lazy? Or something that I actually would like to learn? Maybe this task is the right challenge to tackle that. Is it just the money that I can earn so I just want to get it over with to be able to spend my time on other stuff?
      I try to see it as a challenge to articulate what opportunity is infront of me and the other stuff is just something that comes with it.
      I also imagine what likely consequences it would have if I finish the task (learning new things, experiencing overcoming difficulties, earning money, helping out others, etc.) and what happens if I don't (not living up to my potential, possible disappointements, loosing out on an opportunity, getting better in finding excuses, etc.) Sometimes having answers to these questions helps me to figure out what I actually want to do in the moment that also serves me in the long run.
      Don't be afraid to take breaks but don't let it become a habit or an easy excuse.
      Hope that helps!
      All the best, man!

      @@FynnGB dang thanks for the reply im glad to know im not the only one that sometimes doesnt want to open any 3d software. But yea ill try to develop a healthy habit from now on let say push 5 hours daily doing something that will benefit me in the long run.

    • @FynnGB
      @FynnGB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Damian_h Keep it up!
      Make sure to be honest with you at what level you are at the moment.
      If it's 5 hours that's great! but if it's just an hour or even 30 mins a day that you can sustain that's okay as well as long as you keep building on it.
      I like to compare it to sport: if your goal is to benchpress 120kg and your actual strength only allows for 40kg then that's where the start should be. Oftentimes it's hard to admit where the actual starting point is but once that is accepted every improvement is a genuine success.
      Going from 40kg to 45kg is a step forward that's worth celebrating. But if you tell yourself that you believe you could press 60kg than you would still consider the 45kg a failure.
      Progress takes time but it's worth it if it's genuine!
      All the best man!

    The random adding of texture annoyed me in places where pores should be you chucked a random skin texture on lol. still, great when printed (because you cant see that texture)
