Hi, Kristen!! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so happy you see Gon-chan in such a warm light. I'll keep sharing with Gon-chan's cute antics and my struggles with him lol
Your lucky husband must open your delicious bento each day as a delightful surprise! Something creative and new every day. The fun part of carving food is that you can eat any mistakes, and no one will know you aren't perfect. Have a great week, Hanako! (Mmmm, sandwiches.)
Hi, Meredith!! You're so right! Mistakes are just opportunities to eat more, hehehe😋 Aw, that's sweet of you to say! I'm just a wife trying to make her husband's lunch time a little more fun.Thank you for the kind and lovely comment! I'm worried about the wildfires in your area. I hope the situation is improving and that you're safe. Please take care.
@hanakoskitchen8868 Thank you for your good wishes, Hanako. The fires are now under control, but the damage has been terrible. I am safe and feel incredibly lucky. Thousands have lost everything. These types of disasters happen everywhere and it's always awful. I still weep to think of the horrendous losses suffered by Japan in the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
I'm so relieved you're safe, Meredith. It's truly heartbreaking to see the devastation. My heart aches for everyone who has lost so much. You're right, these disasters are just awful, and the memories of 2011 are still so vivid. Thinking of everyone affected.Sending you positive vibes and strength. You're not alone in this.

I love watching you and your husband interact with little Gon-chan! I, too, would be trying to rub that fluffiest of tummies. I have two cats that like to be in the kitchen with me and one of my aprons has no string to tie it anymore because of them! I like how he has a little place to sit in the kitchen and watch you. I always watch these videos while I'm having dinner but I'm done with my food and I think I'm even hungrier than when I started! Have a great week full of smiles and cheer, Hanako!
Hi, Akemi!! Thank you for your kind comment!! It made my heart warm😊 We love spending time with Gon-chan, and can't help but want to rub his tummy all the time lol I'm glad I'm not the only one whose apron strings are under attack by feline friends, hehe That's a great compliment! I'm glad you enjoy them! Have a wonderful week full of happiness!

Your Bentos are beautiful! Especially love the sandwiches! Our stores are full of Valetines' day candy fighting for space with Easter candy! And in between those two will be St. Patrick's day! Not a holiday with candy, but much partying and drinking! 😂 Can't wait for your next post! Thank you!
Thank you so much, Linda! I'm glad you think my bentos are beautiful, Those sandwiches were fun to make! It's interesting to learn about Easter and St. Patrick's Day since they aren't widely observed in Japan. I love learning about their traditions in other countries! Thank you for your comment! Have a wonderful week!
Gon-chan is very curious about everything around him and about what I'm doing, haha Thank you so much, Lykegenes!! Otsukare sama!! Have a wonderful week!!
Gon-chan reminds me a lot of the cat that lived in the first house I lived in on my own (I rented a room in a larger house). His name was Webster and he loved to just hang out with me. He'd meow outside my door until I opened it and he come and sit in the middle of the room. He wasn't very playful though, in fact he seemed to prefer being ignored; whenever I tried to give him attention he'd move away. I guess he just liked being with people without necessarily having them notice him. I can't decide which bento was my favourite this week; they were all so cute and delicious in their own ways! I found the last one the most interesting, probably because it's just that bit different from food I'm used to. Plus the Snoopy mushroom was adorable! :D
Thank you for sharing such a sweet story about Webster! He was a special cat!! It sounds like he had a deep bond with you and felt safe and content in their company. How sweet! I'm glad you liked my bentos!! Sukiyaki may be unfamiliar to you, but it's delicious, so I hope you get a chance to try it someday! Thank you always, dewdropmushroom! Have a wonderful week!

Hi, Susana!! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so happy you enjoyed the video and thought the food looked delicious. I'm glad you appreciate my mushroom art, and yes, my cat is definitely the star of the show now, haha. Thank you for your support from Barcelona!
Ahhh, sukiyaki... such a simple recipe to make such a delicious dish! I'd already bought pork this week thinking I'd make shogayaki, but I might just change my mind 😂😂 I prefer the Kansai style too! I think grilling the beef first makes it take on more flavour, and the sauce takes on some flavour from the pan as well, so it's a richer, more powerful version of the dish. I might try making the Kanto style here in Japan at least once though - I think I might be used to making it with lower-quality meat and seasonings in Australia, not to mention some odd vegetable substitutions! So maybe I can appreciate the meat more if I'm using higher-quality ingredients. Cutting the vegetables thin with the peeler is also a great idea! Thanks as always, Hanako!
Hi, Sailor PlanetMars!! I'm so happy to hear that you're enjoying cooking various Japanese cuisine! Shogayaki is also wonderful! I'm so glad you agree about Kansai-style sukiyaki! It's the best, for sure! I hope you enjoy experimenting! Anyway thank you always! Have a wonderful week!
I can totally relate! When I see the display decorations for the next holiday way too early, I often feel a mix of excitement and feeling a little overwhelmed😭
I gave myself a long weekend for my birthday, so I watched this a day later than usual, but still during my lunchtime! (I had pork jjigae, Korean pork stew, with rice and kimchi. The bird demanded rice, and wasn't happy with just a small ball of rice placed down for her, she demanded that I hand feed her from my bowl (she doesn't get that, usually, because it is rather like Gon-chan demanding things. The more they get their way, the worse their behavior can get.) I do also suggest, like someone else did, throwing toys for Gon-chan and trying to teach him to fetch them back. Lino taught himself to play fetch and I buy 2-inch pompoms that are his favorite toys for fetch. But I also have longer toys, like toy fish, so he can kick the toys with his back feet. I have some wobble toys that have a weighted ball and the top has a fluff toy that he can bat at, so it flips around and wobbles, but doesn't fall down. I even have a play mat that I can tuck toys into and the cats have to try to get the toys out. But that one was thin and Yuki decided he didn't feel like reaching in through one of the established holes, and instead, he ripped open a new hole in the bottom. Rotten brat. ;) I really liked the sukiyaki bento and the teriyaki and egg sandwich. Those looked very tasty! I really wish that I could get fried tofu pockets, but they are nowhere near where I am. I just need to move closer to Asian grocery stores! :) Have a wonderful week, Hanako! Thank you for another wonderful video!
Happy belated birthday, Anne🎂🎉🎊🎁✨Wishing you a new year filled with happiness and smiles! Your bird is adorable! And thank you for your thoughtful and helpful advice! Having welcomed Gon-chan into my home, I've realized I have a tendency to overindulge cute, young creatures( ̄∇ ̄;) I'm trying to be better about it. I'd love to play throwing toys for Gon-chan! He loves chasing after balls, but then he just starts playing with them on his own. How did you teach Lino and Yuki to bring them back to you, if you don't mind me asking? Thank you for the compliment on the bentos! I'm glad you liked sukiyaki and teriytama sandwich. My husband and I love them, too!! I wish I could deliver the vacuum-packed fried tofu pockets!! Anyway thank you always!! Have a wonderful week!!
@@hanakoskitchen8868 Happy Monday, Hanako-san! I have taught pets to bring things in the past. The bird knows how to pick up a toy and bring it to me by color (I ask her for a specific color and she selects that toy and brings it to me.) Teaching that sort of thing takes small steps. For my dogs and my bird, I started with just associating a command (something like "fetch the ball" or "get the ball") when they touched the toy I wanted them to get. When they picked it up, I would say the command and then praise them a LOT. I'd offer treats, if they like treats. It takes some time for them to start associating the phrase with the behavior, but they do (usually) get it. Then I started to add in more praise for them bringing the toy back towards me. Treats would be given if the toy was close enough to me to be picked up and tossed. This one was learned really fast because Lino loves to chase the toys so much. He can (and does) jump over 5 feet into the air from the bed to try to catch thrown toys. We've gotten to the point where he understands that if I say "I can't reach that", that he needs to move the toy closer to me. (Of course, he sometimes gets frustrated and then throws the toy at my head.) Gon-chan is still young, so you can make those associations more quickly. But start by figuring out what behavior you want to train, then when he does that behavior normally, give the command phrase, then immediately give him LOTS of praise and a couple of treats. Lino and Yuki both know that "place" means to go to the cat tree in the bedroom. "Sit" means to put their rear end on the floor. "Stand" means that I want them to actually stand up on their hind legs or at least sit up with their front feet off the floor. We are working on "lie down". They both know the boundary for the kitchen (Lino still tries to convince me that it doesn't really apply to him), they know the bird is off limits (Lino also believes this doesn't apply to him). They both know the command "move, please", though they are less interested in obeying that one, since it means "get out of my way... please". Training a cat takes time and patience. You need to know what the best rewards are for your particular cat, and you cannot do the same thing over and over. The cat will get bored and leave. You also cannot force the cat to do things. That makes them far more resistant to learning future behaviors. I look forward to seeing what you teach Gon-chan!
Hi, Anne! Thank you so much for your detailed and helpful advice on training Gon-chan! I was a little unsure where to start, but your explanations were so clear and encouraging! I really appreciate you sharing your specific examples of Lino and Yuki. It's incredibly helpful to hear about the specific steps you took, and it gives me confidence that I can do this too. The tips about associating commands with actions, using lots of praise and treats, and gradually increasing the difficulty are exactly what I was looking for. Hearing about the steps you took in their training made me feel like I could do it too. I also appreciate you emphasizing the importance of patiently understanding a cat's personality. Gon-chan can be a bit stubborn at times, but I'll try working with him in a gentle and positive way. I was really helped by your advice not to force him to do anything. I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to try out the advice you gave me right away. I'll let you know how Gon-chan is doing! Thank you so much for everything!
If you throw toys for Gon-chan now when he's little, he might learn how to bring them back to you to play fetch! My siberian cat is named Mochi and she taught herself to do this.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely moment with Mochi! It sounds like you two have a lot of fun playing together! My cat loves chasing after balls, but then he just starts playing with them on his own. How did you teach Mochi to bring them back to you, if you don't mind me asking?
Gon-chan playing with your apron is so cute!!!! I love seeing him on the stool ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡ Cherish those days when they are young and playful like this hahahah And cutting out a design on a mushroom is a great idea! I will need to try that
Hi, GIChiyo!! Even though it's tough with Gon-chan sometimes, I realize these moments are precious and won't last forever. Thank you for making me aware of this important thing! I'm glad you liked that designed shiitake mushrooms! Shiitake mushrooms might be hard to find, but you can also make it with regular mushrooms. I hope you'll give it a try!
Are you getting to sleep in a little now that you’re starting your bentos the night before? I hope so! It’s important to get some rest! My kitties disrupt my cooking too! It’s hard to scold them when they’re so cute!
Hi, Jennifer! Thank you for your kind comment! I'm getting a bit more sleep now that I make my bento boxes the night before, but Gon- chan is an early bird, so I'm up early with him anyway, haha I'm relieved to know that you and your cat are experiencing something similar. It helps to know I'm not the only one facing this. Thank you always for your kind words! Have a wonderful week!!

Thank you for the video; I always enjoy them. But I have never understood the fascination with making a sandwich that is so think you can't get your mouth around it; and if you squish it down, everything squeezes out. I would really like to see you try to eat it on camera! And bagels are so hard that the filling usually always squishes out, even if it is a thin sandwich! AARGH!
Hi, Linda! Thank you for your comment as always. I appreciate your feedback. I received the same comment from you before, but rest assured that I always make delicious bentos. And these types of sandwiches are quite common in Japan. They're wrapped in paper to prevent the fillings from spilling. I'm glad you find them interesting! I look forward to your continued support.

@hanakoskitchen8868 ❤️❤️❤️
Happy New Year Hanako! Your videos always bring such joy to my weeks! Hope you and your family have been staying warm. Everything looks so delicious!

Gon-chan was so cute watching you crack those eggs! Wonderful bentos again. Getting hungry! And otsukare sama as always :)
Gon-chan is very curious about everything around him and about what I'm doing, haha
Thank you so much, Lykegenes!!

I would love to have a bagel sandwich right now - any flavor of bagel - with cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, red onions, and cucumbers 🥰
That sounds delicious! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
@ it’s one of my all time favorite breakfasts! When I was little, I used to spend a half hour at the breakfast table stacking my own bagel sandwich.
I totally saw the Robot Soldier from Castle in the Sky too 😂
In the grocery store I work in, we already have Easter candy available. The year goes fast when you work retail. 😂
The more they get their way, the worse their behavior can get.)
I do also suggest, like someone else did, throwing toys for Gon-chan and trying to teach him to fetch them back. Rotten brat. ;)
I really liked the sukiyaki bento and the teriyaki and egg sandwich. Those looked very tasty! I really wish that I could get fried tofu pockets, but they are nowhere near where I am. I just need to move closer to Asian grocery stores! :)
Have a wonderful week, Hanako!
(Of course, he sometimes gets frustrated and then throws the toy at my head.)
Gon-chan is still young, so you can make those associations more quickly.
I love seeing him on the stool ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
Cherish those days when they are young and playful like this hahahah
And cutting out a design on a mushroom is a great idea!
I'm getting a bit more sleep now that I make my bento boxes the night before, but Gon- chan is an early bird, so I'm up early with him anyway, haha
I'm relieved to know that you and your cat are experiencing something similar. It helps to know I'm not the only one facing this.
Thank you always for your kind words! Have a wonderful week!!
❤❤
Gon-Chan is your child so aren’t you technically a mother a well?🤔
☕️🤗❤️🙏
❤❤🇰🇪
That cat looks bored to me. If you can, get another cat as his playmate.
comprale unos jugetes, a mis perros les gusta mucho los peluches, consiguele una pelota con sonajero o dale de comer por la mañana cuando vallas a cocinar. es muy lindo tu gato.
Gracias por tu comentario. Voy a intentarlo
I look forward to your continued support.
time really flies!! i cant believe its already been a month either (ᗒᗩᗕ) i love the heart sushi and the lotsa bagel - you're always so creative, hanako!! otsukare sama :D
Hi, oliveee!! Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the heart sushi and Lotso Bagel. I'm always trying to make bentos more cute, so your feedback means a lot to me!! I really appreciate your support! Have a wonderful week!!
