As a teenager at the time of his musical accomplishments, I remember being both shocked and energized by him, and I couldn't understand the controversy around him at all (the Columbine thing notwithstanding and really having nothing to do with him). Looking back, this guy combined David Bowie vibes with raw 90s rock/nu metal and avant guard futurism, and he was one of the only of his generation to go after materialistic celebrity culture and unadulterated capitalism in such a direct and shocking manner. Previous generations glorified their equivalent artists, but our generation allowed Marilyn Manson to be vilified and for his influence to be somewhat lost over time despite his incredible foresight and artistic accomplishment. It's honestly a shame that this man isn't mentioned in the same breath as those such as Bowie, Prince, etc., because he was the same type of creative force but simply up against an era who didn't want to hear him.

Marilyn Manson never gets old. I started listening to him at 14yrs 20 yrs ago.. Been binge watching vids today. I had forgotten how many songs I really loved by him, I'm on a natrual music high and it's great! I think I appreciate it even more now cuz of how profound his message is in his lyrics. When I was 14 it was more about relating to being an outsider, rebellion, against doctrines being shoved at the youth to cause massive shame, but its that and so much more! I'm so happy and grateful my parents were so open minded and never tried to forbid me to listen, ( My Dad went to Black Sabbath concerts in his youth after all) Although my mom was a lot more conservative, she never judged, never put down, and was always willing to listen. Now as I'm older, I'm really hearing the lyrics, and love the music all over again even more now that I've grown, have more wisdom. So genius, so loving it!

Marilyn, oh Marilyn. Queen of Kings.
I could dedicate this to my friends when I was 18-21. It really did apply.
Still relevant AND a thunderously good rock song.

I've kept coming back to this video over the years, and now that I understand symbolism on a much deeper level than I used to, I can't help but praise this video's genius.

Still trying to find out who did the backing vocals all these years later
I used to be really afraid of Marilyn Manson and I didn't understand what he represents but now I do and I'm a big fan. One of the most important artists of out generation in my opinion.
I know I first heard him when I was in 5th grade and I'm now a senior in high school and still very much like his music
Same here.
+Brooke Cantu I started I 7th grade glad I discovered him all thanks to a friend
manson and reznor are two of the most important artists . they dont get nearly enough credit.
The female background singer adds so much to the song.
it's a group ;-)
It's actually an entire choir....
It's actually Kobe Tai, a porn star.
Such a unique Manson song. mech animals is my favorite album of his still to this day. Also kinda makes me feel old lol. It was centuries ago when I first heard this.
Antichrist superstar was my favourite, then probably Portrait. Mechanical was good though. Stopped listening after Golden age.
I wasn't even born when Mechanical Animals was released. I feel so lucky for finding this masterpiece. It changed my life.
The video is 15 years old and no one gets tired of it yet...
This Video is 25 years old - it was released in 1999.
Whether they want to or not or say that he is sick or whatever stupidity comes to mind, they will not deny me that his mind and creations are art in every word, great Manson 👏👏👏
"There's a hole in the soul that was filled with dope"
I think this video and song are describing what the media is becoming, and teaching the children.
(Shivers)
I agree.
The best part is that is song is 15 yrs ahead of its time . The msg is so relevant to today's society.
Marilyn manson is such a genius
Many years ago I was not a Manson fan... but a friend asked me to “give him a chance.... and RIP, my dear friend Joe... you were right.. I’m a die-hard metal head... but you reminded me to hear the words ❤️ thanx for your inspiration. RIP Joe... ❤️
Eileen Fox looking at evoking 14th demon Marilyn Manson on youtube
your a good friend
@@Vikernes-f9u (Lol, ironically I saw this because the anniversary of my friend’s passing is in a few days... but, he would really like this... 🤟🏻😆👍🏻... But since you commented (SO silly!) ... Here’s my answer (a whole year later, 😉) Umm??? No.... I think you might be thinking of some “whatever demon” or some such... I was recalling a memory of a dear friend (who has since been lost... RIP Joe). And you know what? I only ever ended up liking a few Marilyn Manson songs....so think whatever you like of me.... when I hear those songs... I smile, listen to the words (usually with a good laugh that we had) and laugh even harder that you are reading WAY TOO much into this..... Lol... please, just move on.....

loved this song when i didn´t even knew what Marilyn Manson was. Crazy good young times :)
Way ahead of it's time. Mechanical will always be a favorite!!! 🖤 you Manson!
Master piece even in 2023!
Marilyn Manson is glorious, but inside he struggles with life.
Well, would you really say that you aren't?
Легенда, люблю пересматривать его клипы👍
So I showed one of my teachers a load of Marilyn's videos, and he said he liked the sound, but not the imagery, so I spent about an hour explaining the concept and the art, showing him to look deeper than what you see on the surface, and I think we may have a new mansonite
Nice x
