Trying to eat rotten or unsafe food is pretty typical among elderly people who grew up during the Depression and WW2. Food rationing and desperate poverty makes for a pretty solid trauma base.
I'm not an inlaw from hell, but we need a sweet story here, so imma tell you about my grandpa. My mom divorced my dad when i was 4 because he had a bit of a temper. When my grandpa got sick a few years later, he called my mom to say goodbye, and he told her that she would always be the daughter he never had.
I didn’t know this until after we’d been married a few years, but my husband said that when we were engaged, his parents kept telling him that it wouldn’t last. One summer we were all camping, and my MIL and I were talking about my husband’s and mine upcoming anniversary. I looked at her and said, “And to think they said it wouldn’t last!” My husband is the oldest of four and he’s the only one who hasn’t been through a divorce. My in-laws really wanted all the kids to stay home and not get married. Heard that from my FIL himself. They’re both gone and my husband and I have been married 34 years. Most of our fights were over them, but I was determined not to let them win. We have a better marriage than we’ve ever had. My parents treated him like a son and wanted us to succeed. Big difference in selfish love and love that is pure.
This probably isn't politically correct to post but my ex mother-in-law told me the reason my daughter died was because I didn't go to church. Daughter was born with a heart defect and needed a heart transplant but only lived 2 months.😢

😂 the food prep issue is why I don't eat anything my mother in law makes. It's so bad her own kids have band her from bringing food to any family gathering.
Damn this video makes me so grateful for my in-laws. They treat me as an actual son, not a son in law. They are paying for my college because I wanted to go but couldn’t really afford it, they helped my wife and I buy our first house because renting was too expensive, my FIL helped me get a job at his company when I got laid off from my last job during COVID (I still work for that company and love it), and so much more. I love them
when my wife told her mom she was dating me, her moms first question was, "Is he Catholic?" My wife said,"No, I think he's a buddist" hermon, " well is he white?"
After dating for 3 years before getting married and waiting another 3 years before having purchased kid, when my wife called her to tell them the news that she was pregnant my MIL's first comment was "oh no".
other than this she's actually a wonderful woman even if she's more than a little opinionated and "bossy"😂😂😂

My mother insisted that my sister in law knows some TV presenter because they're both brown. SIL was adopted from India as a child, that woman on TV is from Turkey.
This story will show what an idiot I am when I was first dating my now ex-wife my father-in-law kept borrowing money from me, wouldn’t pay it back. I loaned my saxophone to one of his daughters he stole that plus one of my leather jackets plus a ring I gave my girlfriend and hock them. When we got married, they didn’t show up for the wedding and I ended up having to take my ex-wife’s name off my bank account because she was giving them all our money and not paying our bills. I was never invited any family functions or if I was it was to do chores for everybody. When I got sick in 2014 because of a virus, my ex-wife gave me because she was cheating on me that took my eyesight and I had to learn how to walk again, she started giving my disability money to her family. Then she divorced me and cleaned out all the bank accounts and most of my retirement before she left unbeknownst to me in my family. But honestly, in the end I can say I won because I outlive the old bastard and While I was dating his daughter, I was screwing his wife, so I think I went in the end.

Sadly, i won't had to meet my MIL and FIL ...... because my gf's parents pass away long ago. Even my BIL, because he also pass away. All of a similar heart disease, my gf got luck to had surgery to remove the problem. From what she describe me, they was really great people (although a little strick on her father side), but i describe mine, and I 100% know they would get along with my parents just really well if her parents would still alive too.
