this is the very best video portrayal I have yet seen! the wisps of fog throughout lends to the idea that it is early morning...I like the narration and the conversations that take place...In 1960 I took a train from near Prestwick, Scotland to London..I recall opening a window and having a taste of the soot so it must have been a steam loco :) and I quickly shut that window...it was a night journey so I had to have slept most of that trip..thanks for this grand video :)
Hi that was very good I'm from Durham and the nextdoor man was a signal man at Newton Hall a few miles from Durham Station my aunty lived just beneath the station her back garden went right up to the fence you brought a tear to my eyes remembering the happy days thank you,
I stumbled upon this video while looking up excursion videos. Excellent, spot-on work on your part. I especially love the chat between the cleaners. Your attention to detail is magnificent!
Well done, I loved this! I've been waiting for this episode for a while now and i'm not disoppointed! The music, the smoke effects and the bit where the cleaners are talking, it just gives it the sence of realism Well done Andy From St Andrews Road
You've really put a lot of effort from the usae of music to the overall atmosphere for this installment of NES mate, I love it! Also, the scenes with the cleaners talking were a nice touch.
Fist of all Tom I must congratulate you on this amazing piece of cinematic work. It represents one of the finest videos of a model railway I've seen. You have captured the true essence of the steam age, not only in the North East but Nationwide. It does without a doubt set standards that most of us can only dream about...keep up this fantastic work Tom, it's truly inspirational..Thanks very much and a 5*+ from me....Bob
Very good, I've been waiting for this one for quite a while and i'm not disoppointed! The steam effects, as i've said so many times they give it that sence of realism Well done TGF09
Truly state of the art and it's quite a move to do a Documentary style series :) You've handled that superbly and heh heh it actually reminds me of watching the video I have coincidentally called "Steam Supreme" :) Haven't watched it in years as I don't have a video machine but I still have the video.
@1964mikem Thank you for your kind comments Mike. I now have a HD camcorder so footage should look alot clearer. Over the next few months I will be doing some North Eastern Steam shorts, called North Eastern Steam Spotting, which will be shots of these superb locos in action. Tom
@Skarloey123 I'm truly touched by your comments chap! Thanks mate, although it was alot of hard work putting this one together, it was really worth it I think :-) Tom
@ShaurntheSheep Thanks chap I'm guessing you mean if it was real what would my turntable be. I'd say Vacuum, I will add something at one end of the table to show this at somepoint. Glad you enjoyed :-)
Very interesting,thank you for your comments. The series is taking a big change...the Main area being a more realistic layout. THis can be found with my latest video about the new layout 'Leaman Road 50A York'
Awesome video :) Love that music and btw, wicked subtitles :) The video is so realistic, but is it your model railway?I'm currently building an OO gauge model railway. Its basically a loop line with a fiddle yard. Keep the videos comin'
haha love the mention about the dirtiness of the Gateshead engines a very true statement which lasted into the BR diesel days. But...a dirty loco is a hard worked loco.
i mean when you said that '' the story does not end there for them and that will be discussed in a future episode'' you mean that 60163 tornado shall be born. and she brings the peppercorn class a1 class alive again! accompanying sir nigel gresley andflying scotsman.
@xtremewrestling4eva Many thanks chap, indeed you are correct, never a truer word spoken. I know I have said it already, but welcome again to PW Forum :-)
alright her is in my opinion. if it is similar to a gate set loco like an a4 to clean it during 1960s period then better off use a drain pipe or a hose pipe of water and fire it to the loco. if you use a rag you will be pained to access on the boiler cladding and be there all day long. and the next time you try cleaning that again you will look worse than before.
this is the very best video portrayal I have yet seen! the wisps of fog throughout lends to the idea that it is early morning...I like the narration and the conversations that take place...In 1960 I took a train from near Prestwick, Scotland to London..I recall opening a window and having a taste of the soot so it must have been a steam loco :) and I quickly shut that window...it was a night journey so I had to have slept most of that trip..thanks for this grand video :)
This is epic. Love the steam and sound FX!!!!

I stumbled upon this video while looking up excursion videos. Excellent, spot-on work on your part. I especially love the chat between the cleaners. Your attention to detail is magnificent!
Fantastic! Loved the history involved and the way it was presented! Loved the figure in the shed at 2:30 being "smoked out"!!
Thanks for the enjoyment
Well done, I loved this!
I've been waiting for this episode for a while now and i'm not disoppointed! The music, the smoke effects and the bit where the cleaners are talking, it just gives it the sence of realism

I have to say, this is my favorite episode of your series, I like the fact you focused on a railway shed

Bravo! Loved the sfx, very atmospheric
Very, very moving.
The image at 2.58 says it all... well it doesn't really, the whole things was beautiful.
Rob
It's amazing how realistic this looks.... I may at some time attempt something like this (only on an American railroad, probably the Pennsy or NYC...
Love the smoke haze over the sheds
5/5 Great ONE!!! :D
Full of atmosphere of The Golden age of Steam!!! Look forward to see what happened in the next episode!
@DoctorTankEngine I missed it the first time around, but as I check your channel on an irregular basis, I normally catch up at some point.. :)

You should one on the Great Western Railway Broad gauge or Perhaps the latter years of GWR running.
That's 52A Gateshead, one of the sheds on the North-Eastern Region.
The turntable theme from ttte played in my mind when mons meg was turned
Say Tom, you ever considered featuring your layout in a model railway magazine?
brill job on the episode
@ronthecyborg

also do you use dc or dcc?
will you be doing a documentry on Eatscote Central Station?
According to my Summer 1955 Ian Allen ABC of Locomotives, yes, though given that this is set in 1961, it might have changed in the interim.
Very nice video!!! xxD
@BasicModelling
Most kind chap...thought you would like it ;-)
Tom
@Cromford88
i know what your thinking ;-) but it was a member of the class. But yes great name.....not sure the 3rd Doctor would agree ;-)
@ShaurntheSheep
Thanks chap
I'm guessing you mean if it was real what would my turntable be.
I'd say Vacuum, I will add something at one end of the table to show this at somepoint.
Glad you enjoyed :-)

Great video, 5/5
It's 'Jupiter' from Holst's 'The Planet's Suite'
@reedman9
It's Jupiter from the Planet's Suite :-)
i mean when you said that '' the story does not end there for them and that will be discussed in a future episode'' you mean that 60163 tornado shall be born. and she brings the peppercorn class a1 class alive again! accompanying sir nigel gresley andflying scotsman.
@DoctorTankEngine What, you've considered it?
Great video mate! How do you get so much steam?
@Cromford88 actually meant to say 3rd Doctor would probably like it....typo

Funny you should mention that..... more news closer the time ;-)
Just out of interest how many smoke generators do you use on the layout.
No it's a completely different Class...A3 60077 'The White Knight'
Well, I'll ask a friend to copy it 2 disc and I'll send you some clips of it if you like
Great episode and video. Are you a TH-cam video partner?
alright her is in my opinion. if it is similar to a gate set loco like an a4 to clean it during 1960s period then better off use a drain pipe or a hose pipe of water and fire it to the loco. if you use a rag you will be pained to access on the boiler cladding and be there all day long. and the next time you try cleaning that again you will look worse than before.
