- I first encountered this bug while I was casually taking pfp challenges.
It's quite often to stumble upon a person who can't change their profile pictures. From what I can gather, it would be the problem with your Internet, Cache or the server having a little hickups.
I find that PC client is more prone to this bug than mobile. I advice you to use mobile version in case your PC can't change your pfp.
How to change pfp if it's not working:
1) Use another device
2) Restart PC client (Ctrl+R)
3) Use browser client
4) Clear cache (for mobile users)
5) Pray to Discord God for the server to be good.

The fact that this bug still exists is nuts, I recently got this bug and it was really annoying, sometimes clearing cache wont work but what ive done to fix it is restart discord on my desktop aswell as clearing cache on mobile at the same time.

i can't even change my server pfp
I'm currently having this problem where it says "Unknown Session" when I'm trying to change my Avatar, might possibly know how to help with that?
ahh so im not alone on this one,
im currently also trying to figure it out but if you have it i think multiple people might be having this problem so this might be discord having faults and errors on their app that they need to fix.

sorry for the late reply. You could either use another device to change your pfp or clear your cache in your phone and that might fix the issue.
If you change your pfp too often, you might need to wait an hour before you can change again
