Mystique is becoming the new Wolverine. The first three movies, despite being called X-Men, were mainly about Wolverine. And now, Fox has done the same with Mystique. But I do think a difference is that Wolverine always has been a rather big character, even before the X-Men movies. Mystique is....meh.
You are 100% correct. The downfall of this franchise is that Fox has been way too obsessed with Jackman and JLaw. It hurt the other characters. The 90s animated show gave respect to ALL the X Men.

superdarkthoughts to me they didn't over do Logan in the movies cause since the 90's fox kids cartoon he had been my favorite character of the franchise and he was what got me in theaters that's why I dropped off when the unnecessary first class movies came about cause he wasn't going to be in them except for days of future past
It's incredible because despite the importance of Jean Gray in the X-MEN, many of the fans are only interested in how Quicksilver will close his arc with Magneto. That is the disastrous level of putting a super famous actress in the cast, who end up hating her, downplaying others and concentrating on the end of a character not famous, played by someone who is an excellent actor without much fame.

When I saw Mystique in the "Dark Phoenix" trailer thumbnail, I immediately said WTF?! Why are they still trying to ride the J-Law/Mystique arch?
I get that she's a big-time actress, but damn, they're doing this franchise a huge disservice by not focusing on the core X-Men characters. Hopefully this last X-Men movie will have some redemptive qualities before they shift over to the MCU.

I like Game of Throne, But Sophie Turner can't act her way out of a paper bag, Sophie is No Jean. Ty Sheridan is just "no". McAvoy and Fasbender are the only good actors in these for more than a cameo, and that's not enough.

I believe somebody at Fox revealed that they wanted to do that, but that the process to make those Quicksilver scenes is so costly and takes so much time that to make a whole movie with multiple instances of it would be an astronomical undertaking. Like, Avengers level budget for a solo film, and twice the production time.

Honestly, I can't believe they're going ahead with yet another half-assed adaptation of the X-Men's most important story before rebooting for the MCU. This film series has it's high points but it's never been as good as just the actual Marvel X-Men stories.
I like the story but.....we need to put this story to rest as far as reboots go. If this movie ever comes to fruition and it flops, i wouldnt mind putting the xmen to rest either.
Or even the cartoon. The Fox X-Men are basically the worst portrayal of the X-Men that you can find.

Fox has never truly understood the X-Men if they did we wouldn't have gotten that shity juggernaut from Last Stand we wouldn't have received that horrible Deadpool from X-Men Origins they've dropped the ball so many times that when they have a new X-Men movie coming out I'm just sort of blah about it.

@@kevin10001 Na, the x-men movies are their own continuity in general. They're not 616 or any of the other futures/universes they draw inspiration from. The main movie continuity is 10005, the movie DoFP possible future is TRN414, and the Logan possible future is 17315.
The movies in general draw from multiple comic universes, not just the main continuity or the ultimates, but both and a number of others

I absolutely agree with your views on mystique, it would be the same if Avengers was solely based on Hawkeye. He’s a cool character but not able to hold an entire movie about him.

I think the story takes place in the 80s just like with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. And deadpool's origin takes place in 2016 so I don't think that would work.

They already tried to do the same thing to Halle Berry back in X3 before her career took a dive. Cyclops' death in that movie also showed everyone just how much they actually care about the characters.
Not sure if killing off Cyclops came before or (more likely) after Marsden decided to do Superman Returns.

@@jp3813 Whoa, it felt like petty but understandable studio spite at the actor, for the studio to want to kill off the character even aside from the actor's status is even worse. Of course Wolverine would be heavily focused on in the third movie but it's so bad that they would just kill off Cyclops, the leader and Jean's lover, and prevent having a stronger and fresher story with both Cyclops and Wolverine caring about Jean and playing big roles.
@@suarezguy I actually remember the script leaking online before shooting even began. There was even doubt among fans that the filmmakers were actually gonna go through w/ killing Cyclops that dismissively since everyone knows there's gonna be a huge outrage. But social media wasn't as big back then, so there was absolute disbelief when fans saw it happen on-screen.
On the whole X-men coming to the MCU thing, I think they should focus on the main team. Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and others. And I like the actors currently playing them and want them to continue. I also want Evan Peters Quicksilver to join the MCU as a completely separate character to the current MCU Quicksilver. #THICCsilver
No Sophie, No Ty, no to whoever those other unknowns are. (Storm, Angel, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, etc) If you have to look it up to 'remember' who played that character then they were NOT very good at it.
Evan Peters, Fasbender and McAvoy are the only 3 actors in the current run that i like. Hugh was good but he wants a rest, he deserves a rest.

But seriously, I agree with the video. The character just does not fit with who the x-men are recognized to be. It's not Jennifer Lawrence's fault, just the studio realizing she's big and being unable to cast her as a more important character retroactively. It just cant happen and the series has taken a big hit. I think she get's killed in this movie... so no worries about her being the super main focus or leader.

Crazy idea. Rather than skipping so many decades between series. Keep it localized so that no one has aged in 20-30 years, and focus on Professor X and Magneto. McAvoy and Fassbender made the first reboot and the scenes of them working together were amazing. I am honestly behind them having risked the franchise to have 1-2 movies where they spend a lot of time working together.
And now it's happening to the Avengers
