    The wind really changes the result but that is ok because that helps you define your birds for upcoming races. Good luck 👍🙂

    Love that you have a large range of different colour birds and that shows that it doesn't matter what colour they may be they can come back home just as good as the next one , love that strawberry looking mealy hope that ones still around at the end and hope you will put that one into breeding , great video as usual . 🇬🇧👍

      I have not seen any difference in performance based on colors. I just enjoy a more colorful flock. I would like to breed that one also and I feel it should be around 👍

    my thoughts on why your pigeons are not so early in the list. Short to me. I have traveled to 4 different lofts. I had both the longest and shortest field measurements, I was in the middle and I was outsourced 20km to the west. And yet I competedin all the pigeon lofts for the championships. I think the mistake you made was the weeks of darkening the pigeons with fabric and carpet without free flight. Here in Europe we also black out the pigeons, but they also get free flight during the time and they have to have that to build up a good condition. From weaning of the last young to the longest day, one blacks out after 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. To do this, you take appropriately sawn wooden panels that you hang in front of the wire and thus darken the dovecote. and at 8 o'clock in the morning you take down the records at the dovecote. Since you also have to darken the substructure, I would screw the panels on and only remove them again when the longest day is over. After the longest day, the youngsters like to be exposed to light from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. tomorrow and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the evening, so the day is extended to 18 hours of light. We also use light to prepare our breed for breeding, starting 10-14 days before the mating date.

    My best way was Double Widowhood specially for young birds they are confused as it is .
    I never had a good luck with young birds mixing the cocks and hens and let them lay eggs and race them even if you switch to plastic ones.
    I did your system with old birds and did much better.
    I have the same problem as you my loft is the most southern loft of CJC combine if the wind is not on my favor I do crappy.
    It takes a very smart young bird to break off from the main flock and head home when the wind is not on your favor.
    Any way I’m sure you figured it out .

      Thanks for your thoughts my friend. It sure is a learning experience! I also had better luck when I separated the sexes last year. Just put them together when returning from tosses and before basketing.

    Hi mike my name is David and I am from Ireland and I race pigeons as well I i am subscribed to your channel and always enjoy your videos ! The only way your young birds will learn to break away from the flock on race days is to give them a lot more tosses with the club and they will learn very fast you should try it and see for yourself love the channel keep up the good work

      Hey David, thanks for your comment. I would like nothing more than to toss more with club members but they are way to far away. I did a couple with a guy close to me but he lost his pigeons. ☹️

    • @davidpurcell7067
      @davidpurcell7067 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok Mick there isn't much you can do about that it's a pity because your birds always look very well and are good enough to win races the club should be trying to do more to help you out because you are always going to be at a disadvantage which is not fair because your birds are a lot better than what is on the results sheet

  • @MaydisLoft
    @MaydisLoft ปีที่แล้ว

    It's tough to be in your situation. One thing is clear, had your loft be in the line of flight as everyone else, no doubt about it you would be up there with those guys on top of the sheet.
    Flyers know that and they know your birds are super troopers having to flying longer and using much more energy to come cack. You're birds are Champs and people know that for sure.

    Don’t beat yourself up to much brother. Hard to get them to break off especially on short races. Only suggestion I have is to train them to where you want them to break off from the flock. I cringe when I hear guys training there birds in all directions, train them in the line of flight, with any luck a few will start to recognize the area and break when there close. The next two races will make or break the birds and don’t be afraid to loose them, your only loosing the bad ones. At 300+ there won’t be a heavy drag in either direction, so if you have a good one you’ll know it.

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea Adrian having the birds look for a landmark to break off might make a difference. Pigeon racing is a lot more than meets the eye for sure. Will have to see how it goes I know I did pretty well on the longer races last year and hoping for some of that. But I hate it when I send them out for hundreds of miles and I know there’s going to be a headwind. But like you said the great ones will handle it. Thanks for your comment my friend I appreciate it

    • @AdrianP_loft
      @AdrianP_loft ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons Im the opposite i love head winds, those are by far the best races to prove the birds and the wind is against everyone so makes for a equal playing field. To be a good racer you have to let go of the idea that they are pets and the fear of loosing them. You want the best right? Then feed well, train well and race them hard, at the end you will have the best. No other way of proving their valve. Loft performance and then club performance, look for consistency in your birds, those that are home early across most races will make the cut. Hope im not to forward, i truly want you to do well.

    Your birds will break off from the others better with age tosses with club training tosses helps speed that up as well but not evrry club has that option available

    Let them raise babies. That may help. Foster the eggs with your breeders. You can also fly cocks one race hen the next that will give them time to heal and when they do return from a race their mate is waiting for them. They will learn if they fly hard break their mate will be waiting.
