I totally agree. If they had just put this up as a made-to-order pre-order with just Wild Weasel for like $200 on Hasbro Pulse, they would've received more orders on day one than they did now.

Yeah, but if they released it and parts broke you'd also be crying about that. I'd rather wait a little longer for something that they deemed inferior to be fixed.
I couldn't agree more with your take on Haslabs. They need to go back to being DREAM projects not standard vehicles that could be pre ordered. 100% agreed on every point here. Hasbro is trying to make a mediocre effort look like a high end power stunt with these Haslabs. They knew full well that the consumers knew too much about the Rattler coming. Yet, they follow up with a patch tier instead of a forth figure to impress the masses? C’mon, they knew this would get back lash…to save a twenty five dollar jump in price? It’s already over the $300 mark. A forth figure or a function feature tier was in order. I feel like this Haslab lowered a standard and they really wanted us to swallow it with a smile.
Speaking of the USS Flagg, they really should do a Haslab remake of the vintage 1/18 scale for O-Ring figures. It's probably one of the few actual "dream" projects left for a nostalgic and aging fan base. It's easy money for them, even at a $800+ price range.
The fanbase is too split and now 6-inch is getting the attention form both Hasbro and fans. Hasbro had to throw in 3 free Cobra figures to get the Haslab Sky Striker remake a push. It was supposed to be start a line of ARAH remakes but they fizzled after 3 two packs. Now they do a few Transformers crossovers and gave 3 3 /4" to Super Seven. Super Seven's mother ship failed, too. Hasbro just wouldn't bother with a FLAGG remake. The money is in 6 inch now.
@@blissfairchild7194 True, but that's almost everything now, though. It was said the GI JOE Hasbro team was told there was one GI JOE budget and it would have to be split with 3 3/4" and 6 inch and since Classified does so well, 3 3/4" got cut. The Transformers crossovers come out of the transformer budget it seems.
I agree the funding of the Rattler (and every previous GI Joe Haslab) has proven that they would have sold at retail, so no crowd funding needed. I find it somewhat tacky that the biggest toy company in the world needs a crowd funder... The patch tier is pathetic. $5 worth of patches is the GI Joe team's first mis-step.
I agree with everything you said. However if Haslab put up the GI Joe stirp club with poles, lights, speakers and all the female joes/cobras with fully removable clothing I know you will take the Tier with the cap and three patches and love it😁😆
I'll restate it here. Those patches are a slap in the face. Also, have they addressed that the gunner is stationary but the turret goes 360 degrees? I hope its a mistake that isn’t going into production.
I just realized the other day I can't collect toys anymore. I've been priced out buy rent, food, and necessities. I'm probably going to have to unsubscribe so I don't get tempted. The government and the companies did this.
I want it. I really want it. But let's be honest here. It's not a toy it's a wall /ceiling hanger, and the tiers are pure BULLSHIT! So, as of yet, I have not backed it.
All facts. I think collectors who collect many lines see through the nonsense and it's really easy to see a person that just buys one line, I've talked to people in the last week that think vehicles being Haslabs are reasonable even though I pointed out Transformers release two foot tall Transformers every year at retail, they've got no response.
@@ArticulatedNinja haha all good here man, enjoying the videos you're putting out. Keep calling this stuff out! Did you see that Marvel Legends look like they're putting Haslabs on ice?

Thanks for your video Ninja. I mentioned this on Chad's latest post and I don't mind repeating myself on yours. Hasbro should change their slogan to: "Ignorant people making ignorant decisions". I get the feeling that Hasbro is regretting making the Haslab an annual campaign. They just don't have the vision required.
Let us not forget the Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon from 2008, that thing was over 3 foot long, and retailed for $170 at the time, loaded with features, and sold at retail.
@@Christolclear101 and when they rereleased it a couple of years ago, was the price $170? Hell no. $399. Comparing prices that are 16 years apart doesn’t make much sense.
@@shawnforrester1610 only thing you accomplished was demonstrating how money hungry Hasbro has really gotten between then and now. Congratulations. 🎈🎉🎊
@@Christolclear101 you do realize that prices go up right? Cars are more expensive than 2008. So are groceries. Is it greed? Maybe. But last I checked most folks don’t work for free and businesses aren’t a charity. Wake up. Toys are not a need item. Just a luxury want. Buy it or not. But the price comparison from 2008 is juvenile at best.
@@shawnforrester1610 You’re correct about one thing: toys are a luxury item. Either you buy it or you don’t. Where I call it greed would be when in less than a 2 year period, we get 3 price hikes with little to no explanation. I believe the 2008 price comparison, as far as what you got then versus now with most products Hasbro has released, is still a fair comparison. Back then, we could get a super articulated 3.75 inch Star Wars or GI Joe figure, depending on where you shopped at, between the $4.99 to $6.99 price point. Nowadays, $9.99 barely gets you a basic 5 POA Star Wars figure, and $14.99 for either one that’s super articulated, and these are the exact same figures, same molds being used now as then. A price increase, I would expect, but not as much as 2-3 times for the exact same figure.
Us marvel legends collectors are like five years too over this shit to back stuff like this anymore. They are new giving us figures they swore they won’t and stopping haslabs altogether classified is a new thing give it a couple years and they might give a shit what you guys think

I'm getting it but that first Tier is awful. Lenny stated that the reason they did the patches is to keep prices down. I think they could have done something else.
The only thing that’s burning me up is being asked to pay for another product before you have the last one in hand. It’s America, I expect companies to cut every corner they can.

This scummy company has me looking for the exit on ALL my favorite 80's franchises , and in general has soured my taste for collecting . In addition I've greatly reduced my purchases in the last 3 or so years , starting with the plastic free packaging debacle , as a direct result of Hasbro's shady business practices and total lack of BUSINESS ETHICS .
I would have expected the Rattler to come in way higher than 325. Especially after seeing what is all included. The patches were a mistake, it was either no tier or a lame tier for 325 or up the base price. Either way whatever fourth figure they may have included will be available later on. People getting so bent out about these patches is just ridiculous.
It's the first time in classified history they replaced a figure or accessoru for the item, with something not even functional with the item no figure no rockets or accessories just patches 🤣 I think that's what people are upset about and hey if they don't voice they are upset next time to save even more money Hasbro will include a t shirt or a coffee mug lol
I never thought I'd ever back a Haslab strictly because price, but when i saw this for 329 i got my credit card out immediately!...then put it back away when i saw the patches. 😢
Unrelated but similar, I have an HP Printer, I needed new color ink cartridges to print in black and white. Either I could fork out $100 for new cartridges that are just going to dry up on me because I don’t print much, or I can pay HP $5 for their ink subscription service. I singed up not because it was the better value, but because the huge corporation had me by the balls.

The Rattler is impressive and looks great, but they robbing us, and we’ll let um. Lastly, am I wrong for thinking that Pilot Baroness is the best part of it? 😂😍😘
Another great video my friend. Honestly I don't mind the patches. I always say that the value of the Haslab should all be in the initial baseoffering and the tiers should purely just be little thank you bonuses. With that in mind this definitely constitutes a (Very) little bonus. Keep up the great work man.
Forget the patch tier, it's hilariously out of proportion with the A10 on which it's based and I'm vicariously embarrassed for the backers. The poor Cobra pilot looks like an adult man sitting on one of those springy toy car things they used to have outside of supermarkets.
@@TheJofurr I have been a fan of the A10 for 30 years, studied them, and seen them up close (including the cockpit). The span has always only ever been slightly longer than the length of the aircraft. The Haslab span is slightly less than the length; hardly a crime and very likely done for space/balance concerns. It's pedantic to think anyone would be offended by it.
Brother! I had a B52 for 3.75" scale figures my dad got me while he was still in the army. It was bigger than me. My mother literally hung it from the ceiling in our bedroom. Mainly because it was so big, that was the only way to put it away.
My own personal opinion is, we are all blind consumers with these figures & vehicles. I ended up ordering a figure that's was $31.99 plus $8 shipping. Where is the value on that? But like you said brother, "if you have it, get it". All companies are crooks. I honestly only feel bad for the ppl that can't afford these action figures. There's no going backwards anymore like the good old days $8-$10 dollar figures.
The big difference between the Rattler and the HISS is that all the accessories are included with the Rattler, with the HISS you had to unlock them and they where kinda dumb unlocks, a canopy, missiles with no effects, actually no weapon effects.
I don’t know about you, but for me blast effects go away in a drawer, never to be seen again. That’s a kinda’ worthless thing to keep adding to these as if they add value. Ditto lights.
@@namelessjedi2242the lights make it for me, blast effects are nice to have if you do photos or diorama displays, so I’m happy to have them. Neither actually justifies the cost though.
It would be foolish for people to purchase something even while still believing it to be over priced. Remember, other companies can produce cool military style 1:12 toy vehicles with equal or better details for less money.
The USS Flagg could easily be made for $50. It is made of mostly flat pieces that can easily be put together. It is very cheap and easy. Do not accept Hasbro's nonsense.
Patches! Patches!!! We don’t need no stinkin patches!!! I’m a nobody but here’s a couple examples of tiers I can come up with in seconds….. Ejection seat with wired parachute. Missiles with flame and smoke effects. (Could also be incorporated into a accessory kit for other vehicles and artillery) Interchangeable battle damage panels and components. You’re welcome Hasbro.
Man I really want this but those patches .. why not a dude that loads the misses up with a little missile cart, would have been soo cool I do think it's beautiful and those 3 figures are dope. I still might get if if everything unlocks
People are the problem.People create the problem.People refuse to address the problem. This is what every company is doing now offering less and lower quality products for an inflated price
The fact that the patches contribute nothing to this major purchase I'm making, yet inflates the cost, blows my mind. Yes, I'm going to be one of the rubes who allows this to happen. But I won't do it quietly and I hope Hasbro listens because while this may have saved them cost, its costing them in my trust in the value of Haslab projects.
Crowd funding should not be used for anything under 500 bucks. Soul of Chogokin can sell $300 figures without a crowd fund, so can a billion dollar company.
The royal starship went to clearance. If Hasbro had the ability to gauge interest then and know exactly how many to make with zero risk they would have.
Those patches suck! Screw a command center, do the Cobra Terrordrome! or the U.S.S. Flag! It can be done, Super 7 did the Thundercats Lair and that's for 6 inch figures and charged what, $500 I think. They can do a big playset, get it done!
Someone Pointed out that she is wearing a retro outfit from the comics. So its a new sculpt and you know Hasbro will want to reuse it. So Much like CC, I believe there will be a true retro Baroness down the road. Maybe it won't wave all 3 hair styles or whatever but I bet there will be a figure in the future.
That exclusive Baroness Fig is A Smoke-show! Hips & Heels, its the First CLASSIFIED figure w/ golden arches. > Outside of her, its an easy pass. _The Rattler_ is Overpriced & it has No Display value, outside of hanging it from the ceeling w/ dental floss; like im 10yrs old (unless your into plane maintenance fig photigraphy that is).
I hate the idea of Haslabs. Never backed one. I’m just not that deep when it comes to collecting. I like to just be able to go into a store and just buy something I like. I’m not even really into preordering. So the fact that I front a company that much money and wait for 1-2 years to get my product is insane. My luck I die before I get it. I’m just saying things in life happen in those 1-2 years. These can easily hit stores.
Some good points raised but in fairness I think a few things were missed in this analysis. Firstly, it's not apples to apples to measure the Rattler by the Naboo starship. Not only was the market different then, but Star Wars as a property was white hot. Comparatively, GI Joe hasn't really been relevant for decades. To expand on that, look at the difference between the two properties now: three successful campaigns for Joe with nothing even being attempted for Star Wars despite the interest from collectors. Second, each Joe HasLab has been a milestone. It's easy to look back at the HISS and Dragonfly and say they would have worked with a different format but to a significant if not majority collector population the HISS WAS a "dream project". The HISS established that 1/12 scale Joe vehicles were not only viable but highly desired and wildly successful. The Dragonfly showed that the HISS wasn't a one-off and that vehicles that have a larger footprint could also work. Now the Rattler is showing that even larger vehicles are viable. Finally, while I'll stipulate that the patches aren't the best or even necessarily a good choice, it's arguably forgivable if one takes into account the sheer amount of extras that come in the base package: damage panels, weapon effects, and additional weapons. It's worth bearing in mind that on the HISS the alternate parts and extra weapons were tiers. Here, we get everything up front. Finally it should be said that just on the base package, to get a GOOD-looking 1/12 Rattler for the price being asked is a legit deal. For someone that justifiably rags on products for excessive pricing, honesty and integrity should have gotten the Rattler some kudos for that alone.
@@michaelennis9040 I never complained about the price so I def. Didn't " rag" on the price or not give them kudos I did , also I never say it was apples to apples in short These vehicles would do fine with the crowdfunding model with patches lol that's all.
I actually didn't say you ragged on the price. I just mentioned that you rag on prices in general, by which I mean you call out unreasonable pricing like with the Ghost Rider project. That's one where I agreed with you pretty much 100%. At the end of the day I do agree that the patches as a tier are an error, but imo it's a forgivable one in light of how good the base product is. Cheers.
Just like the HISS, this over-priced Rattler should be in stores; on these Empty AF shelves (so empty I could lay down on them & not touch A toy) for $149.99 w/ Driver figure tops! > They're both Haslab *"Dream Projects" mid-size vehicles,* from an in-house brand- via A Billion dollar corporation (as in corpse). WtF !?
@@floorboss That's right. Who do these companies think they are trying to kid? (retailers and manufacturers) Over the decades we've seen bigger and more expensive toys on the shelve. These GI Joe classified behicles belong on store shelves.
The reason why these things are still stuck behind Hasbro's HasLab is because people keep paying Hasbro to do this. Stop paying Hasbro for this nonsense. If Hasbro decides they don't want to make these things any more then other companies are more than capable of filling the void. Stop giving Hasbro money. Hasbro will change or someone else will do it and do it better.
100% agreed, and I mentioned on my video. Hasbro knew what they are doing here, they knew people will going to buy the Rattler and they took the opportunity to save money by throwing those patches. Shame on Hasbroooooioooo!!!
How do you "downsize" a FLAGG when one jet is 3 feet? That's a Cobra Jet, the Skystriker is much bigger. It's simply not practical and the cost just to ship it would be triple figures.
Once again I wish your voice was also in the transformers space as well calling out these haslabs. Hasbro is also doing the same thing with thier transformer haslab as they are doing with this rattler. The latest one was Omega Prime which was sold for $249 and is basically two commander class figures, one deluxe figure and accessories. I was instgram and youtube going no that should not be a haslab. especially when i think the omega prime is either slightly shorter or taller than the original (sorry i forget which). the shill did not like what i had to say. I even called one youtuber a shill. All he could say is ""I know why hasbro does not release more than two commander classes." I was like wtf??? Its a massive company with its own online store. They can sell it without being a haslab. And Omega Prime also has other colors that it came in to. Hasbro is doing this with its I guess its two most poplar brands. Haslab sure things.
On a related note, Kudos to the Marvel Legends team for NOT doing a Haslab. Wait a second, where did the Big Mac from 1974 come from? a time capsule? Never go full Classified.
The patches as a tier is worthless !!! I'm backing it to get the Rattler !!! But your right they could have mass produced it for a mass market release !!!

Patches? Hasbro is selling a toy ariplane and a couple of action figures and they include PATCHES?! We don't want no stinkin' PATCHES! (Hasbro is so disgusting that my grammar is ruined!)
It does suck we couldn't get another figure for the first tier like a aircraft maintainer, which are heavily underrepresented in military toylines. And is a letdown since the plane has removable panels, which would work well with a crew cheif, ammo specailist, or avionics tech (we have different shops that work on different plane components) But the patches are OK for me since I own a pencil pocket with a velcro patch holder placed on my belt that I use for work, and from afar, the cobra can be confused for the viper logo

This is the first HasLab I've participated in, only reason I did it was because I reeeeeally want Wild Weasel. But otherwise, $325 for a giant plastic airplane (no matter how cool it looks) would have probly been a non-starter. It's likely the only time I will do this; Hasbro's marketing strategies are starting to wear thin with me. You make so many good valid points in this discussion. 👏🏻
Next project, they gonna give us red, white, and blue zippers and buttons. Or maybe three 12 x 12 magnets (a cobra, a Gijoe, and a Hasbro one) for you to put the on you car.
This was a way better presentation than expected. I agree with everything you've stated and feel 1000% the same way. The Rattler should've been no more than $149.99 w/ Wild Weasel at retail. The GI Joe x Transformers crossover in 3.75 scale gave us a Rattler and a his tank w/ 2 figures for $150. And THAT was overpriced. Haslab's first offering, Jabba's sail barge for $500 was the only worthy offering they've made. And it IS AWESOME. Being that it's my favorite plastic thing from my entire childhood, I'm in. But if it doesn't make 18,000, I'm out.
Hasbro did a big mass market ship as late as 2019 with the galaxy’s edge BMF which was supposed to be a Disney parks exclusive but went to mass market because it didn’t sell in the parks. (I can see why, shipping it out of there would have been hell!)

@@scockery their o-ring line fizzled not because of lack of fans, but because they wanted RIDICULOUS PRICES for them!

I want it. I really want it. But let's be honest here. It's not a toy it's a wall /ceiling hanger, and the tiers are pure BULLSHIT!

I understand completely
Patches? You mean 27 pieces of flair?
Thanks for your video Ninja. I mentioned this on Chad's latest post and I don't mind repeating myself on yours. Hasbro should change their slogan to: "Ignorant people making ignorant decisions". I get the feeling that Hasbro is regretting making the Haslab an annual campaign. They just don't have the vision required.
Let us not forget the Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon from 2008, that thing was over 3 foot long, and retailed for $170 at the time, loaded with features, and sold at retail.
Facts christo all facts 🔥
Also, the Marvel Legends Sentinels went on pre-order and were gone faster than I could draw breath!
still the only thing I d invest so much in if you ask me, and now they re gone... idiots!
Nah a cap as tier would be too generous. Next year they gonna offer stickers or a small poster as a tier 1and people would thank them for it.
Great video Ninja, I really enjoyed hearing your take on the Cobra Rattler . I agree with you 100% this should have been just a pre-order not a Haslab. I never back a Haslab because i seen what they have done in the past with playsets and vehicles. !
Dude i agree, maybe if all figures unlock, a definite no without Barroness
I'm getting it but that first Tier is awful. Lenny stated that the reason they did the patches is to keep prices down. I think they could have done something else.
As a lifelong fan of Fred Roger's from the seventies, I declare this the best intro of all time! Fred would approve.
Basically, they know they needed no help selling the Rattler. Why give us a $25 figure...
The only thing that’s burning me up is being asked to pay for another product before you have the last one in hand. It’s America, I expect companies to cut every corner they can.

Anyone remember the way Hasbro delayed the Haslab Sentinel with the defective knee until after Galactus funded ???
So , what's defective or not as advertised on the Dragonfly ?
I'm still on the fence on this, but my childhood is screaming in my ear.
I did bust a gut when they offered ....patches...Heh!
So that you know: I backed the Rattler solely for the patches! In fact when I receive the Rattler I'm gonna sell it to buy more patches!
Two big cobra logo parachutes would have been better than patches if they wanted to give us a cheap tier... at least they could be used with the damn plane!

Well said! As always Dave thank you for supporting smaller channels
Forget the patch tier, it's hilariously out of proportion with the A10 on which it's based and I'm vicariously embarrassed for the backers. The poor Cobra pilot looks like an adult man sitting on one of those springy toy car things they used to have outside of supermarkets.
Very true

My own personal opinion is, we are all blind consumers with these figures & vehicles. I ended up ordering a figure that's was $31.99 plus $8 shipping. Where is the value on that? But like you said brother, "if you have it, get it". All companies are crooks. I honestly only feel bad for the ppl that can't afford these action figures. There's no going backwards anymore like the good old days $8-$10 dollar figures.
Nowadays buying action figures is a luxury to own
I agree with your assessment!
Take that money and get some of the Ramen Toys tanks instead.
Exactly
The USS Flagg could easily be made for $50.
It is made of mostly flat pieces that can easily be put together.
It is very cheap and easy.
Do not accept Hasbro's nonsense.
Patches! Patches!!! We don’t need no stinkin patches!!!
I’m a nobody but here’s a couple examples of tiers I can come up with in seconds…..
Ejection seat with wired parachute.
Missiles with flame and smoke effects. (Could also be incorporated into a accessory kit for other vehicles and artillery)
Interchangeable battle damage panels and components.
You’re welcome Hasbro.
What is a crock of crap is they said the skystriker is to big. So you will never get one to go against your rattler
Man I really want this but those patches .. why not a dude that loads the misses up with a little missile cart, would have been soo cool I do think it's beautiful and those 3 figures are dope. I still might get if if everything unlocks
Damn 😮that you are spitting facts .
Yeah, I'm out. Hasbro lost me with this and the last series of renders.
The Baroness is the best part. Unfortunately there's zero chance that Hasbro will reissue just that figure at a lower price.
Hasbro never lets new molds that are supposed to be "exclusive" sit on the shelf after only being used once.
Naw, we dont need another Baroness
I'm just gonna wait for Valaverse to release a jet
Exactly exactly exactly 💯 exactly
Didn't " rag" on the price or not give them kudos I did , also I never say it was apples to apples in short
These vehicles would do fine with the crowdfunding model with patches lol that's all.
Cheers.
This COBRA Rattler needs to be in retail stores.
The price needs to be much lower.
The quality needs to be outstanding.
Put it in the stores already!
(retailers and manufacturers)
Over the decades we've seen bigger and more expensive toys on the shelve.

It does suck we couldn't get another figure for the first tier like a aircraft maintainer, which are heavily underrepresented in military toylines. And is a letdown since the plane has removable panels, which would work well with a crew cheif, ammo specailist, or avionics tech (we have different shops that work on different plane components)
