To be fair, if Mephiles were to come back, it would definitely have a Harley Quinn effect. People would love him more and more with every appearance. Especially with the vibe he gives out.
Cyber Stuff I feel like he’s the type of character you only bring out every now and again. Too much of him would make it so he isn’t as great anymore. All of the villains people seem to like are the ones that haven’t had many appearances. Chaos has appeared a few times now though 😅
@Fang Lazken AKA Ranshi Mephiles did in ONE game what Robotnik couldn't achieve in a FRANCHISE. Let that sink in. Mephiles IS a threat, and I think the reason we haven't seen Mephiles resurface is simply because he's too good at being a villain, he has no qualms killing without gloating, he likes to manipulate but he is willing to go for the quick kill. Eggman wants Sonic dead, but can never achieve it because in reality his robots are inferior to Sonics abilities, and Eggman NEVER learns from past defeats.
In the beginning of this video, I say "Mephiles the Dark", not "Mephiles the Dog". If I did say "dog", my British accent would make it sound very different to the word "dark".
biggest mistake that forces made was not letting infinite take center stage... he should have double crossed Eggman, stole the chaos emeralds and mutated into some monster or became super powerful requiring sonic and the heroes to deal with a MUCH larger threat. Infinite had potential but it was squandered.
It's like the writers were trying their absolute hardest to not make infinite the main villain while making eggbotnik the main villain. Maybe they had already planned on doing what you said, but someone at the very last minute said NO, I WANT EGGMAN TO BE THE FINAL BOSS and just rushed it with infinite being sidelined
Controversial, maybe, but this is actually the *one* , *singular* aspect I will defend about forces: for the first time in *years* since Sonic 3, it is *Eggman* who double crosses the other villain and takes over as the main antagonist. For year up until this point, ever since Sonic 3, if the game featured a secondary antagonist/villain, that antagonist would either betray, overshadow, double cross Eggman and take over as the main antagonist/final boss. Chaos, Shadow, Metal Sonic, Black Doom, Mephiles, Eggman Nega *several times* , Emerl/Gizoid, Dark Gaia, the Babylon genie, that one robot in Gravity, the deadly six. The list goes on. And most these games would more of less follow the same story beats: secondary antagonist gets introduced, they beat Sonic up, they're revealed to be forced or willingly in cahoots with Eggman, rematch with Sonic eventually, they break free from Eggman (Eggman does something optional), turn the tables on him and take over, final boss time. It's been so overdone and been happening for so long that the moment Infinite was introduced I was waiting for these exact story beats, and for the most part they did, that when it was *Eggman* who double crossed and turned on Infinite, I breathed a sigh of relief. Because for the longest Eggman has felt like a secondary antagonist in his own series. He's felt more like a king Dedede than a Bowser, if you like that comparison
Mephiles did what the other villains couldn’t. He actually succeeded in killing Sonic. His darkness, depth, and outright evil nature makes him a compelling villain. Regardless of how bad Sonic 06 was, it had a damn good villain.
Sonic 06 had a great villain a BEAUTIFUL soundtrack and a story I could enjoy the only things in my opinion that ruin sonic 06 for me is the bugs, the animation, the tedious jobs you have to do in the towns, the fact that silver is slow as hell, that damn ball part in one of silvers missions, the clunky and stiff gameplay, and the fact that all together it was a rushed game. If they truly took their time to flesh everything out make some changes tweak some things and find a way to make the game more enjoyable as the story progressed than I feel like sonic 06 once had the potential to be one of the best modern sonic games to date. If I could have one wish for sonic team its to remake this game from the ground up with the same overall story and much more improved and much more fun kinda like a soft reboot. Cause I would love to see a way better version of sonic 06.
Ali_ Gaming. He did try to kill Sonic, albeit indirectly, through Silver. But since Silver failed too many times, Mephiles decided to take matters into his own hands.
Mephiles is such a great character. he had so much depth and gloom and mystery that can add so much to the sonic universe. Finally I get likes for saying good stuff about Sonic 06, and not threats to my life.

It all stopped when sonic team listens to most of the fans that wanted a better game. Saying all the past 3d sonic games till colors were bad but they have good memories of those games. That's something I don't understand.
I've avoided '06 everything because of the rep it gets, even though I've always wanted to play it because the story always sounded interesting... I feel like I should at least watch a playthrough just to get a feel for this character... Yes, bring him back, SEGA.
I'd suggest playing it. It only gets a bad rep because at the time it was a disappointment and fans didn't like the change from the Adventure style, or the new voice actors. It's actually not that bad unless you deliberately hunt for the glitches.

Definitely give it a go! It's maybe not for everyone but it's about as shounen as SA1 and S2, and in a lot of ways it's easily the most narratively ambitious game in the series. A three-way time travelling epic with an emphasis on more dramatic elements, it doesn't fulfil all it's potential that's for sure, but it's about as high brow as the series has gotten. I'd kill for a better shot at what this game was going for.

Right!? In SA2 Eggman got close to killing Sonic, and Shadow was close to destroying everyone, but both times they failed, either by unforeseen events or by their own change of heart. Mephiles had no change of heart, and he didn't give up. When Silver failed he did it himself. He's far more memorable than any other villain for that alone.
I think SEGA should give Mephiles a chance, either allowing their employees or even their fans to remake Sonic 06 to the way it should be, or let Ian Flynn use his early concept for the Shadow Fall arc from the Archie Comics and use it for a new game or in the IDW comics. FYI: there are some fans that are working on a mod called “Legacy of Solaris” that is to fix the rushed and unfairly hated game.
Well, it is fairly hated for some reasons. A lot of reasons actually. The hate is over amplified, but "rushed development" is not a get out of jail card. They decided to split the development on it, they decided to rush it to launch, it's their fault. I'd like to see that fan mod though...

Sega should just remake 06. They wouldn't necessarily have change many things about the game's story, just fix the glitches, improve the graphics, etc.
I do agree with you that his appearance in 06 was iconic and that he shouldnt return. I personally feel that him returning would definitely affect his value as a character and could possibly be damaged if hes not presented right.
I mostly agree with you; Mephiles coming back in newer games would affect the quality of his character, but I personally think that he should be reintroduced so a wider population of Sonic fans can see what an ACTUALLY decent Sonic villain is. How could this be accomplished? I think Sonic 06 should be remade (hopefully by a more competent team and without rushed deadlines), thus keeping Mephiles in his "original game" while making the game more relevant to younger people (because I doubt that anyone who didn't already have a copy of 06 would just stumble upon a video like this and go "hey I should go buy a game that's more than a decade old"). I think that Mephiles could still "reappear" in future games, in a sense...Basically, the writers (probably in that 06 remake that I still want) just need to insert some lore about how (after beating 06 or an 06 remake) Mephiles may not have been born, but due to his time-manipulation powers some part of him still exists in the time-space continuum; That, coupled with Time Eater's appearance and theme, would be enough to imply that Time Eater is canonically that leftover part of Mephiles. Hell, if they wanted to take the idea even farther, the writers could maybe even say that Dark Gaia is also a part of Mephiles (though I'm really only saying that based on its coloration and the minions you fight as Were Sonic); If they changed the Phantom Ruby's colors from red to purple, the writers could even possibly get away with saying that Infinite is being influenced to behave like Mephiles (by implying that the Phantom Ruby is also a part of Mephiles), which could then explain why he's a...rather shitty imitation of Mephiles (since he's not Mephiles, but with his thoughts and actions being indirectly influenced by him). I mean...this idea would overwrite a lot of pre-established Sonic lore, but honestly, a lot of the existing Sonic lore is shit anyways and it would create some cohesion between the games...somewhat.

I’ve always believed that Sonic the Hedgehog should have what I can a “Maypole Character Story”, wherein you introduce your main character in your first installment, establish them, and when introducing other characters and villains they have more interesting stories, development, and interactions. This kinda thing is what I feel the Adventure Era of Sonic got down and what’s made it (in my opinion) the best era of Sonic in terms of characters and writing. Sonic was the protagonist, but his friends all developed in their own ways because of their interactions and relationship with Sonic and the villains all had a specific narrative theme to them. Chaos and Gerald were fueled by their hatred and sorrow, resulting in them wanting to destroy the world. Black Doom intended to destroy Earth while taking advantage of a powerful weapon he could control. That being Shadow who was resurrected with barely any of his memories. Mephilis was a being of pure darkness intent on becoming a god, ruling over all of Time itself. As for Sonics friends, Tails learned to become his own kind of hero based on his time with Sonic. Amy became less dependent upon Sonic and start protecting herself. Shadow found his peace with the trauma of his past, his creation, and would try to help protect the world in his own way (even if he is too edgy to admit that). This is why I feel the later Sonic games have been disappointing narrative wise. They throw out the “Maypole Character Story” idea and instead just have Sonic save the day every time while all his friends just sit on the sidelines not doing much.
Black Knight did a great job of adding more to his character without necessarily having to develop him much more. You get to actually see his philosophical side and his beliefs like life having an end is what makes it great and something going on forever isn’t necessarily a good thing. But it mostly has the effect that you described with the other characters developing because of him like stopping Gawain from killing himself and helping Merlina overcome her grief and fear. One of the reasons it's up in my top 10 Sonic games
Sonic Adventure 3 needs to happen in a similar style of the old adventure games, the different play styles were sick and the Chao Gardens was a fucking gem too 😅
I mean to be fair, Mephilles just sneak attacked Sonic while he was minding his own business. Eggman wouldn't do that, he wants to prove he's superior, and completely outmatch Sonic in every way possible (and make him suffer). So a normal surprise kill isn't really how Eggman does things. After all there were a lot of chances Eggman's had if he wanted to just kill him
Why I like Mephiles: He is an actual threat He has good depth. He looks cool. He’s a hedgehog and not some huge monster type thing so he seems very powerful for who he is.
Today's Sega can't be trusted in bringing back the Mephiles we saw in 06, they want money not deep storylines :( Still, some slight references in the main games would be a nice touch, but again, today's Sega isn't good at handling character depth (take a look at forces tails)
I actually think they put more focus in the story than gameplay now or days. Not every Sonic game has to be more dark and "OMG fate rests on Sonic" than the last. But, that's story based gaming for ya. Here's an idea---focus on Sonic and Metal (Sonic) for a game. Doesn't need to be Heroes or anything, but Unleashed did well with so few characters.
Love how one of the worst games has one of the best villains. Infinite's just a bootleg Mephiles, if anything. More bark than bite, far less developed and not even half as intimidating.
Something cool about Sonic ‘06 that I ended up particularly enjoying was the villain(s). The designs were actually pretty good, with Memphis Tennessee and Iblis all showing how those characters were. The final boss being Solaris (?) was actually kinda neat, and I kinda liked the design they went with. The story to the game was good too, and honestly it’d probably be amazing if it actually wasn’t a sonic game.
Honestly at this point, there is no harm in bringing him back. You can even right around the whole erasing the events thing and say that he managed to slip through the cracks of time and travel to another dimension. Now that doesn't mean everyone will remember him from that time, but he remembers them and plot for revenge! I would like him to be a boogey man for Silver, he haunts him in his dreams, and appears like a hallucination kind of Slade was to Robin in Teen Titan's. At this point, there are ways for SEGA and Sonic Team to bring back this character without contradicting 06's ending!
Mephiles is practically Segas Darth Maul. A cool looking, interesting character that fans had wanted to see more of and yet the company behind them refuse to do so.

as garbage as sonic 06 is gameplay/bug wise i still think the story is really good. sure the whole elise story is kinda cringey but the rest was fantastic. and well much better than any story the sonic series has seen since then
Games with better stories since: Colours. Secret rings. Lost world. Boom. Generations. You might not like them as much but they are at least way more coherent

The only way Mephiles could possibly return is if SEGA remakes Sonic 06 in a way that it's supposed to be... I personally hope that SEGA would remake Sonic 06 & make it into the 15th Anniversary Sonic game we've all wanted generations ago, who agrees?
That would be the best! That game needs a proper remastering, _especially_ those awful in-game cutscenes that are just a pain to watch. With the modern technology and lots of experience, Sonic '06 can be turned into the absolute best Sonic game that has ever existed!

Soldier 76 | It wouldn't work. The game has so much bad blood around it and you'd only be reminding people of your greatest failure. Trying to convince already scarred consumers that this time it'll be different? They may as well try and re-make the Star Wars Prequels while they're at it. Sure, you'd buy the game, but not very many people share your faith. You'd have to throw everything you had at the project to show people it wouldn't be the same, and at that point the risk of losing everything would be to high.

Sonic 06 was obviously a bad game but if it gave us anything good besides the soundtrack it’s Silver and Mephiles. The biggest thing with Mephilies is that as much as I love Eggman. He’s hard to take serious because he’s a goof ball villain. Mephilies is a serious villain that is ruthless and evil in a way Eggman just isn’t. I had a ton of hope for Infinite even if he wasn’t Mephilies but his writing honestly ruined him

Aside from Dark Gaia, Mephiles was the only villain in the Sonic series to truly make you feel that everything was on the line when dealing with him. He set a standard for the series that no other villain has been able to match TO DATE and it’s sad that they won’t expand on the foundation he made for the Sonic series.
If they bring Mephiles back, they need Iblis for it....but other than that there is nothing really to stop him from reappearing. In my opinion they just erased this specific timeline in the game from happening - but Solaris is time itself so....who know maybe thy are split in some other timeline and this Mephiles makes it back to our current timeline. And if Blaze really has Iblis flames which is heavily implied (being from another dimension - the dimension she sealed herself to in 06, the sol dimension) maaaybe they could do something with Blaze in the future - and Silver because he is a great character too. Maybe those ideas could be some plotlines for an upcoming Silver the Hedgehog game....one can dream, right? Anyways I am glad I am not the only one that really loves Mephiles...great video as always, thank you!
Well lord Danny made a video on how he could return without iblis. Basically he would be made from the goo from the black comet and fused with Shadow’s DNA. I’d advise watching that because Lord Danny explained it much better
The 06 version of Mephiles was prevented from being born, before the timelines split, so all versions of him and Iblis were erased simultaneously. However, the Ian Flynn idea has some merit, and perhaps he might even retain his memories of 06... 🤔🤔🤔

Honestly, one of the things to me that makes him the best Villain of any Sonic game to me, is the fact that HE'S THE ONLY ONE TO EVER ACTUALLY KILL SONIC, AND HE DID IT IN TEN SECONDS OR LESS.

Mephiles was a sonic character that sometimes reminded me of a final fantasy villain. I don’t like him as much as die hard fans but he was interesting and probably one of the best sonic villains so far.
A lot of people talk crap about overly dark or edgy characters in games, but I like them both ironically and unironically if they are done right. Infinite had so much potential, but in the end he just gets overshadowed, which is exactly the opposite of what you want from a "big bad." Mephiles on the other hand is exactly what I want from a dark/evil character. Good villains have the ability to turn a good game into a great game if given the chance. To that end I'd love to see a return of Mephiles in some form or another after all their more recent failed villains.

I'd at least like for him to be in spin-offs which aren't usually canon. For example in Team Sonic Racing he could be teamed up with Infinite and Eggman Nega, a team of controversial villains even if two are lesser than one. Speed: Infinite Power: Dr. Eggman Nega Technical: Mephiles That or be with Tikal and Chaos, Team Deity as I like to call it. Speed: Mephiles Power: Chaos Technical: Tikal That being said I'll also say this: If Shadow ever gets to become playable in Smash Bros. I feel like Sakurai wouldn't pass up making Mephiles take up four of Shadow's alts. I'd also say the same goes for Dr. Eggman Nega if Eggman ever became playable in Smash Bros. as well.
I like how you say Mephiles couldn’t come back cause of his fate in 06, but we all know Sega doesn’t care about continuity anymore! Classic Sonic and Blaze’s backstories for example. They got changed with just a rewrite and nothing else. So yeah they could just bring him back with a new backstory cause Sega just doesn’t care really that much about plot holes or continuity anymore! :D

Mephiles is one of the few good things about Sonic 06. That game was garbage. Mephiles, however, was a gold standard villain! He brought horror in the cheerful atmosphere that was Sonic. I think he should at least get another chance as a boss fight.
My idea as to how Mephilies could come back, is if he was in Shadow's mind. He couldn't mind control him, he couldn't hurt him, he's just an entity inside of Shadow's mind. He could manipulate Shadow in a certain way, saying stuff like "This is the only way, this is how it was meant to be." It could be interesting nonetheless, cuz that would imply that Shadow is the only one who remembers the events of Sonic 06.
Well for two reasons. 1:Cuz he’s the ultimate life form. 2:In my head, I would imagine that the only kind of people that could remember a time wipe, are androids. (That’s what I would say, anyway) I think that sounds interesting, and it could add more to Shadow’s character, with us asking how does he handle those memories?

Like say what you will about 06, Mephiles is a high of that game. He kept the story entertaining, was the only one to kill Sonic and pose an actual threat to reality itself, was actually outclassing Shadow and tried to manipulate Silver into killing him as a means to change the future (which was a lie obviously). So powerful even Eggman had to do truce with the gang to take him down. The fact that he popped up as a playable character in Runners showed they do in fact still acknowledge that he exists. Ian Flynn even believed that the Time Eater (Gens main threat) was what remained of Mephiles in the new timeline. He was more cunning, evil and ruthless than Zavok and Infinite could have been. He HAS to return at some point.

Anything your aforementioned Robotnik is doing is a different scenario than the Dr. Eggman of the games. Theres a thing called Alternative Universes. Which should be there to differenciate in this case the Eggy from the games from the Eggy from the cartoon and comics. They. Are Not. The Same. Person. They may share certain aspects, but they arent alike. At least not 1:1.
In the games, Eggman has admitted to only caring about the people's existence, because he can't rule an empty planet. In 06, his own life was on the line, so he helped the heroes in order to survive. If there's one thing he can be relied on to keep in mind, it's self-preservation!
Infinite is a tryhard edgelord, whereas Mephiles came across as someone you couldn't trust at first, and someone you should genuinely fear by the end. He wasn't some emo wannabe villain monologuing about hopelessness and fear, he was a manipulator who's calm and measured mannerisms made him unnerving and even somewhat frightening. And the level of power he obtained by the end of the game made him the single strongest entity that Sonic and his friends ever had to face. Not to mention that in a way, he had succeeded in a way that no other villain has. Sure, Infinite beat Sonic, but he didn't kill him and was so obsessed with making other people feel hopeless that he himself allowed the person who would end up being instrumental in beating him to live and provide the motivation to do so, not to mention sparing Sonic's life like a damn fool. Too bad Sonic 06 was one of the worst Sonic games, because it had the best Sonic Villain.
It's amazing how time changes because back then Mephiles was the edgelord villain. Honestly just make another Sonic game with some time and care put into it first. Sonic Mania was a good start but let's see something like that for 3D.
@@NotaPizzaGRL Honestly, 06 is extremely underrated imo, I didn't see any bugs while playing, and the shit people say they find is normally in places you'd never go into the game, and you need to fucking keep hitting a wall until you can clip it (gamegrumps wall clipping being used as a reason to say the game is bad boils my blood to unreasonable amounts, what the actual fuck, do people really need to make that many stretches to call the game bad, sonic kisses a human that's already enough), very few of the complaints are things you'd normally find throughout the whole game, Mephiles being edgelord probably being one of the stretches people made. Also silver's battle takes the same amount of time to beat as the first boss, why everyone keeps calling it unbalanced
@@-hello6177 Depends on what happened in Silver battles. Really only hated 4 things from 06 personally. 1. Sonic x Elise ship in game... Just... no... gross and weird. Also they over sexualized the heck out of Elise. That outfit is just so very inappropriate and the storyline focused too much on shipping towards the end. 2. Elise levels... the controls became very demanding and hard to handle in Elise levels turning was very wide so you were likely to hit a wall or obstacle often, and the "shield" was difficult to use as it required perfect timing, and was almost impossible to deal with annoying enemies. 3. Boss battles in the Sonic Storylines. Sonic bosses mainly cause the mechanics and controls could be inconsistent at times or the arenas are just badly designed... like the first Silver Boss fight for example. So many objects that just get in the way making it hard to get around or away and the arena is so small on top of being cluttered that getting caught by Silver means you will likely get trapped on the walls of the arena and spam killed, mainly thanks to Sega slapping a weird knockdown animation for being hit rather than I-Frames like in every other Sonic game. 4. Silver level puzzles and general navigation in the game. Personally I hated Silver's levels because the game never helped you figure out puzzles or anything outside of the basics of using Silver. Then the general navigation system of the game was annoying when you had to go somewhere in the overworld but given zero context or clues about where or how to go there. (Which is what the Grumps ran into first. But in some fairness to the game this is Arin "doesn't pay attention" Hanson who doesn't ever do tutorials or just clicks through everything. Resorting to using a guide in games you shouldn't need them like Wind Waker and more recently Phoenix Wright. Grumps are not really the best to go too for honest gameplay just more laughs and satire.) But the whole game was just too open with the overworld and never helped the player out when they needed it. Its just all those things happening in a short time that ruin it and Sonic 06 is just not fun to play until you get to shadow levels or late game Sonic ones. Silver is only fun for the first mission then they throw him into environments and puzzles thag are just not suited or hard to use him in.

I believe it was explained that Iblis had evolved to not be able to refuse with Mephiles. Now why couldn't he do it the moment Iblis escapes in the future? Why couldn't he refuse with Iblis by going back before Iblis was sealed? Well i think that has to do with Time Shenanigans. He was already there. So what would've happened to himself if he fused with Iblis and became Solaris infront of his past self? What about the moment Iblis escapes in the future? Perhaps Mephiles and Iblis have to be from the same time in order to fuse with eachother. We don't really know. And trust me. They're never gonna explain it

Zero truthfully does not want to fight as when does it solve anything. However it pays very well and this year's harvest will be poor. Zero takes the job and has one week until he needs to leave to Metro City. During this time he spends with his family giving them all good memories for years to come. The day before his departure Zero is visibly shaken and Sally comforts him and say sweatfully "Daddy when I am scared I image heroes that do good and fight on even in danger of being hurt like you". This places a smile on Zero's face and says "you always have an amazing imagination unlike my I could never think of hero's like you do" the constant smile on her face fades as she hears this. She ponders for a second, after her face lights up and quickly says "I make a hero for you", she runs off to her room and begins drawing this last day is uneventful, it was a silent dinner of eggs, pork, and beans everyone's favorite foods. Early the next morning your wife is the only one up to say goodbye, as you enter your car to drive off you hear a voice scream WAIT and you see her running as fast as her legs can carry her with a paper in her hand. It must be the hero that she drew, no wonder he spent so much time in her room. As she approached the door she hand you the paper and says "good bye" in tear Zero hugs her tough the car window. You only such this could last forever, sadly you must say goodbye once more and drive to Metro City. Weeks pass by until the end of boot camp. Zero has had a bad relationship with others here as them want to fight Eggman for glory. More uneventful days pass until your platoon is sent to the frontline to protect this city. The frontline is a nightmare the robots are never ending waves they never tire out Zero thinks to himself as he looks around upon the broken bits of destroyed rubble, homes and parts everywhere. Days, weeks of rain and scorching sun pass and you hear a story of a blue hedgehog that destroys these robots by running into them, Zero dismisses this as a team of fast moving soldiers. One day the robots charge and brake the line of defence you take your lazer wispon and fire at the machines awakening everyone, but instead of them fighting they run leaven you alone to fend off the swarm. The swarm is only a dozen bots or so with quick thinking all the bots are taken care of however one of them gashed Zero's right eye, good news it is simply a flesh wound. The next day Zero is awarded with a purple heart and the silver star. Zero go back to the battlefield and see a blue blur dash by destroying a large by dashing simply near it but he stops as a fox is talking to him they don't seem to see you and talk as of this is a common thing to just walk up to a robot and have it exploded. Apearlty this Sonic has the power to run as fast as sound and that he has not been outside as the weather was "no good" or he simply did not feel like it. This fills you hate as he was born with this power but does not use it, you simply sigh as there is noting you can do about it. Weeks pass and your victorys in this Metro city. Zero heads home smile ing for the first time in weeks. Singing along with the radio until. Until you see it you once home tears in you eyes as you can no longer see. As you park the car you run to the now tatered house. You fall on you knees and cry you cry as you no longer feel hopeful. Zero scoured the land trying to find what HAPPENED. After hours of searching zero finds something a crater, a crater much like the ones created by shockwaves but much much larger and a footprint in the center. The footprint had a stripe pattern. Zero knew where this came from but could not remember it. Months past and zero is in a hotel once more looking at the photos of his now gone family until he reaches a single sheet of yellowed paper. As zero opens the paper it is a drawing, a drawing of a hero to help others a hero with a mask with one eye and a lighting bolt in the other. And with ears of a hibnodic pattern, and a note in pencil Dear Daddy, "I want you to know that what ever happens no matter how sad or scared you are you will always have a hero to help you." This thought of a hero bring Zeros' mind to sonic as he ....... Sonic ........ SONIC ......his mind clicks together and remembers his footprint with a crater and a single footprint in the dirt..............IT WAS SONIC ......... THE "HERO" .....THE "SAVIOR" ....... Zeros mind is pulled in to rage against THE SO CALLED "HERO" . Over the next few days Zeros tries to find any why to get revenge on this HERO online research yielded only more pain as Zero discovered that this Sonic has never lost a friend or enimy and most terrible of all had numerous opitonity to kill the greatest murder of all time Dr. Eggman. He needed revenge he NEEDED IT, however he had nothing to his name no farm no hope and only a car with a gallon of gas. He needed money now so he took the highest paid job he could find 120000 a year and was extraction of valueable artifacts. Zero did not care what is was and signed the forms. Their 1st mission was to sneak into a base of Eggman and collect a "chaos Emerald" and another artifact somewhere in the base. It went smoothly until Zero was told to collect a rather large ruby. As zero grabs it a wave of sothing is let out and everyone passes out when Zero wakes up the ruby is IN HIS CHEST zero pulls at it but nothing happens zero tries to wake the others but nothing no response from anyofthem zero simples grbs the chaos Emerald and runs he imagines running at great speed as if it could read his mind the ruby glows and zero is running at the same speed the thought of and leaves the base. And runs without tireding. He runs in to a rock placing his hands up and wished the rock not their and passes by it unscathed. Zero now tests the limit of his power and discovers that the chaos Emerald ampliy his new power 10 fold. During this time he stole another emerald from a bat useing his newfound speed. The 2nd emerald incresed this power 100 fold compared to what it was with only a 1 emeled this allowed zero to create a person but they were without emotion or any feeling he knew that if he collected all 7 that anything is possible. But who would have the resources to collect all 7....not him any one but him.........DR. Eggman.......... Days passed by as Zero knew it was the only way but he could not be seen with him at all but but how. Zero looked at the photo book but a paper fell out Zero picked up and saw a hero not just any hero his hero his families hero the hero he needs to be and using all of his current power creates a mask a mask with a red lighting bolt and one eye than places it upon his face that flies over to Eggmens base no longer Zero, no longer a fool now able to save everyone unlike how he was before, now the has endless possibilities now he is Infinate. Tldr: Sonic killed infinate' s family by accident and the only way to bring them back is to use the phantom ruby and 7 chaos Emeralds, so infinate made a mask to hid his true identity in order to work with eggman collect all 7 then rewite the world and live a peaceful life afterwords. He also hates sonic for not using his natully born powers by being lazy, and that sonic never lost anyone where still looking like a hero Infinite lost everyone for even a scrap of power to truly protect everyone. But lost everyone and thing he cared about when he did truly try to protect them

I think this is very interesting, cause Sonic '06 is always lampooned for being a terrible game. I don't mean to disagree, but could SEGA also just be scared of reusing Mephiles cause of all the hate Sonic '06 got. I think a new villian would be great, or revamp Eggman, and make him darker. Like back when he was in the original games, or in Sonic Adventure 2. Make eggman an absolute savage again.
If I had to compare Mephiles to a DBZ villain. Mephiles is Freiza... hands down. They're both just wicked and evil, for the sake of being wicked and evil. Never needed a reason to be. Just were. If I compared Infinite to a DBZ Villain... eh, Maybe Cell? don't get me wrong, Cell was cool. but he had an Ego about how PERFECT he was. similar to how Infinite had such an ego about how BAD he was.

I am so happy that Mephiles is getting attention now, and even better, it's been revealed that he's getting into the mobile app "Sonic Forces: Speed Battle" later in October 2022. Also, another thing about Infinite and Mephiles is that Infinite wanted to end literally everything JUST because he was called weak, nothing else. Mephiles was part of Solaris and didn't care if he was insulted or not. No insults changed his character whatsoever, while Infinite changed into a whiny child with anger issues.

@Fang Lazken AKA Ranshi Mephiles did in ONE game what Robotnik couldn't achieve in a FRANCHISE. Let that sink in. Mephiles IS a threat, and I think the reason we haven't seen Mephiles resurface is simply because he's too good at being a villain, he has no qualms killing without gloating, he likes to manipulate but he is willing to go for the quick kill. Eggman wants Sonic dead, but can never achieve it because in reality his robots are inferior to Sonics abilities, and Eggman NEVER learns from past defeats.

biggest mistake that forces made was not letting infinite take center stage... he should have double crossed Eggman, stole the chaos emeralds and mutated into some monster or became super powerful requiring sonic and the heroes to deal with a MUCH larger threat. Infinite had potential but it was squandered.
It's like the writers were trying their absolute hardest to not make infinite the main villain while making eggbotnik the main villain. Maybe they had already planned on doing what you said, but someone at the very last minute said NO, I WANT EGGMAN TO BE THE FINAL BOSS and just rushed it with infinite being sidelined
PS, imagine what infinite could do with the phantom ruby and all the chaos emeralds.
That would be better and it would also be better if Shadow and Infinite fight in the main story.
It feels like there was so much they could've done with Infinite using stuff that was already there but they just didn't for some reason...
Controversial, maybe, but this is actually the *one* , *singular* aspect I will defend about forces: for the first time in *years* since Sonic 3, it is *Eggman* who double crosses the other villain and takes over as the main antagonist. For year up until this point, ever since Sonic 3, if the game featured a secondary antagonist/villain, that antagonist would either betray, overshadow, double cross Eggman and take over as the main antagonist/final boss. Chaos, Shadow, Metal Sonic, Black Doom, Mephiles, Eggman Nega *several times* , Emerl/Gizoid, Dark Gaia, the Babylon genie, that one robot in Gravity, the deadly six. The list goes on. And most these games would more of less follow the same story beats: secondary antagonist gets introduced, they beat Sonic up, they're revealed to be forced or willingly in cahoots with Eggman, rematch with Sonic eventually, they break free from Eggman (Eggman does something optional), turn the tables on him and take over, final boss time. It's been so overdone and been happening for so long that the moment Infinite was introduced I was waiting for these exact story beats, and for the most part they did, that when it was *Eggman* who double crossed and turned on Infinite, I breathed a sigh of relief. Because for the longest Eggman has felt like a secondary antagonist in his own series. He's felt more like a king Dedede than a Bowser, if you like that comparison

The difference is that Shadow wasn’t erased from existence like Mephiles was.
Mephiles did what the other villains couldn’t. He actually succeeded in killing Sonic. His darkness, depth, and outright evil nature makes him a compelling villain. Regardless of how bad Sonic 06 was, it had a damn good villain.
And the funny thing is he didn't intended to kill sonic, but since that was the only way to be solaris he did.

Sonic 06 had a great villain a BEAUTIFUL soundtrack and a story I could enjoy the only things in my opinion that ruin sonic 06 for me is the bugs, the animation, the tedious jobs you have to do in the towns, the fact that silver is slow as hell, that damn ball part in one of silvers missions, the clunky and stiff gameplay, and the fact that all together it was a rushed game. If they truly took their time to flesh everything out make some changes tweak some things and find a way to make the game more enjoyable as the story progressed than I feel like sonic 06 once had the potential to be one of the best modern sonic games to date. If I could have one wish for sonic team its to remake this game from the ground up with the same overall story and much more improved and much more fun kinda like a soft reboot. Cause I would love to see a way better version of sonic 06.

I've avoided '06 everything because of the rep it gets, even though I've always wanted to play it because the story always sounded interesting... I feel like I should at least watch a playthrough just to get a feel for this character... Yes, bring him back, SEGA.
I'd suggest playing it. It only gets a bad rep because at the time it was a disappointment and fans didn't like the change from the Adventure style, or the new voice actors. It's actually not that bad unless you deliberately hunt for the glitches.

Definitely give it a go! It's maybe not for everyone but it's about as shounen as SA1 and S2, and in a lot of ways it's easily the most narratively ambitious game in the series. A three-way time travelling epic with an emphasis on more dramatic elements, it doesn't fulfil all it's potential that's for sure, but it's about as high brow as the series has gotten. I'd kill for a better shot at what this game was going for.

In SA2 Eggman got close to killing Sonic, and Shadow was close to destroying everyone, but both times they failed, either by unforeseen events or by their own change of heart.
Mephiles had no change of heart, and he didn't give up. When Silver failed he did it himself. He's far more memorable than any other villain for that alone.

I mostly agree with you; Mephiles coming back in newer games would affect the quality of his character, but I personally think that he should be reintroduced so a wider population of Sonic fans can see what an ACTUALLY decent Sonic villain is.
How could this be accomplished? I think Sonic 06 should be remade (hopefully by a more competent team and without rushed deadlines), thus keeping Mephiles in his "original game" while making the game more relevant to younger people (because I doubt that anyone who didn't already have a copy of 06 would just stumble upon a video like this and go "hey I should go buy a game that's more than a decade old").
I think that Mephiles could still "reappear" in future games, in a sense...Basically, the writers (probably in that 06 remake that I still want) just need to insert some lore about how (after beating 06 or an 06 remake) Mephiles may not have been born, but due to his time-manipulation powers some part of him still exists in the time-space continuum; That, coupled with Time Eater's appearance and theme, would be enough to imply that Time Eater is canonically that leftover part of Mephiles.
Hell, if they wanted to take the idea even farther, the writers could maybe even say that Dark Gaia is also a part of Mephiles (though I'm really only saying that based on its coloration and the minions you fight as Were Sonic); If they changed the Phantom Ruby's colors from red to purple, the writers could even possibly get away with saying that Infinite is being influenced to behave like Mephiles (by implying that the Phantom Ruby is also a part of Mephiles), which could then explain why he's a...rather shitty imitation of Mephiles (since he's not Mephiles, but with his thoughts and actions being indirectly influenced by him).
I mean...this idea would overwrite a lot of pre-established Sonic lore, but honestly, a lot of the existing Sonic lore is shit anyways and it would create some cohesion between the games...somewhat.

I’ve always believed that Sonic the Hedgehog should have what I can a “Maypole Character Story”, wherein you introduce your main character in your first installment, establish them, and when introducing other characters and villains they have more interesting stories, development, and interactions. This kinda thing is what I feel the Adventure Era of Sonic got down and what’s made it (in my opinion) the best era of Sonic in terms of characters and writing. Sonic was the protagonist, but his friends all developed in their own ways because of their interactions and relationship with Sonic and the villains all had a specific narrative theme to them.
Chaos and Gerald were fueled by their hatred and sorrow, resulting in them wanting to destroy the world.
Black Doom intended to destroy Earth while taking advantage of a powerful weapon he could control. That being Shadow who was resurrected with barely any of his memories.
Mephilis was a being of pure darkness intent on becoming a god, ruling over all of Time itself.
As for Sonics friends, Tails learned to become his own kind of hero based on his time with Sonic.
Amy became less dependent upon Sonic and start protecting herself.
Shadow found his peace with the trauma of his past, his creation, and would try to help protect the world in his own way (even if he is too edgy to admit that).
This is why I feel the later Sonic games have been disappointing narrative wise. They throw out the “Maypole Character Story” idea and instead just have Sonic save the day every time while all his friends just sit on the sidelines not doing much.

Black Knight did a great job of adding more to his character without necessarily having to develop him much more. You get to actually see his philosophical side and his beliefs like life having an end is what makes it great and something going on forever isn’t necessarily a good thing. But it mostly has the effect that you described with the other characters developing because of him like stopping Gawain from killing himself and helping Merlina overcome her grief and fear. One of the reasons it's up in my top 10

While I do think Mephilis is a great villain, my favorite sonic character is metal sonic.
I mean to be fair, Mephilles just sneak attacked Sonic while he was minding his own business. Eggman wouldn't do that, he wants to prove he's superior, and completely outmatch Sonic in every way possible (and make him suffer). So a normal surprise kill isn't really how Eggman does things. After all there were a lot of chances Eggman's had if he wanted to just kill him

Something cool about Sonic ‘06 that I ended up particularly enjoying was the villain(s). The designs were actually pretty good, with Memphis Tennessee and Iblis all showing how those characters were. The final boss being Solaris (?) was actually kinda neat, and I kinda liked the design they went with. The story to the game was good too, and honestly it’d probably be amazing if it actually wasn’t a sonic game.

Honestly at this point, there is no harm in bringing him back. You can even right around the whole erasing the events thing and say that he managed to slip through the cracks of time and travel to another dimension. Now that doesn't mean everyone will remember him from that time, but he remembers them and plot for revenge! I would like him to be a boogey man for Silver, he haunts him in his dreams, and appears like a hallucination kind of Slade was to Robin in Teen Titan's. At this point, there are ways for SEGA and Sonic Team to bring back this character without contradicting 06's ending!

Soldier 76 | It wouldn't work. The game has so much bad blood around it and you'd only be reminding people of your greatest failure. Trying to convince already scarred consumers that this time it'll be different? They may as well try and re-make the Star Wars Prequels while they're at it. Sure, you'd buy the game, but not very many people share your faith. You'd have to throw everything you had at the project to show people it wouldn't be the same, and at that point the risk of losing everything would be to high.
I think that there is a project dedicated to remaster Sonic 06 by ChaosX, and so far it's pretty good concerning the gameplay.

Sonic 06 was obviously a bad game but if it gave us anything good besides the soundtrack it’s Silver and Mephiles. The biggest thing with Mephilies is that as much as I love Eggman. He’s hard to take serious because he’s a goof ball villain. Mephilies is a serious villain that is ruthless and evil in a way Eggman just isn’t. I had a ton of hope for Infinite even if he wasn’t Mephilies but his writing honestly ruined him

Aside from Dark Gaia, Mephiles was the only villain in the Sonic series to truly make you feel that everything was on the line when dealing with him. He set a standard for the series that no other villain has been able to match TO DATE and it’s sad that they won’t expand on the foundation he made for the Sonic series.

If they bring Mephiles back, they need Iblis for it....but other than that there is nothing really to stop him from reappearing. In my opinion they just erased this specific timeline in the game from happening - but Solaris is time itself so....who know maybe thy are split in some other timeline and this Mephiles makes it back to our current timeline. And if Blaze really has Iblis flames which is heavily implied (being from another dimension - the dimension she sealed herself to in 06, the sol dimension) maaaybe they could do something with Blaze in the future - and Silver because he is a great character too. Maybe those ideas could be some plotlines for an upcoming Silver the Hedgehog game....one can dream, right?

Mephiles was a sonic character that sometimes reminded me of a final fantasy villain. I don’t like him as much as die hard fans but he was interesting and probably one of the best sonic villains so far.
He was like Sega's own Organization XIII.
A lot of people talk crap about overly dark or edgy characters in games, but I like them both ironically and unironically if they are done right. Infinite had so much potential, but in the end he just gets overshadowed, which is exactly the opposite of what you want from a "big bad." Mephiles on the other hand is exactly what I want from a dark/evil character. Good villains have the ability to turn a good game into a great game if given the chance. To that end I'd love to see a return of Mephiles in some form or another after all their more recent failed villains.

Mephiles is one of the few good things about Sonic 06. That game was garbage. Mephiles, however, was a gold standard villain! He brought horror in the cheerful atmosphere that was Sonic. I think he should at least get another chance as a boss fight.
My idea as to how Mephilies could come back, is if he was in Shadow's mind.
He couldn't mind control him, he couldn't hurt him, he's just an entity inside of Shadow's mind.
He could manipulate Shadow in a certain way, saying stuff like "This is the only way, this is how it was meant to be."
It could be interesting nonetheless, cuz that would imply that Shadow is the only one who remembers the events of Sonic 06.

Another thing seems to be after changing, Mephiles doesn't seem to move his eyes to look at characters, he turns his head to stare dead at them.
That's true. I only remember his eye moving once and that was during his first cutscene with Shadow.
I'll be honest, I like this character despite the many flaws he had, and his voice is so unsettling, it's perfect.

Like say what you will about 06, Mephiles is a high of that game. He kept the story entertaining, was the only one to kill Sonic and pose an actual threat to reality itself, was actually outclassing Shadow and tried to manipulate Silver into killing him as a means to change the future (which was a lie obviously). So powerful even Eggman had to do truce with the gang to take him down. The fact that he popped up as a playable character in Runners showed they do in fact still acknowledge that he exists. Ian Flynn even believed that the Time Eater (Gens main threat) was what remained of Mephiles in the new timeline. He was more cunning, evil and ruthless than Zavok and Infinite could have been. He HAS to return at some point.

In the games, Eggman has admitted to only caring about the people's existence, because he can't rule an empty planet. In 06, his own life was on the line, so he helped the heroes in order to survive. If there's one thing he can be relied on to keep in mind, it's self-preservation!
I hope he returns some day, such a villain deserves to appear in more than one game, I love how chilling he was.
Infinite is a tryhard edgelord, whereas Mephiles came across as someone you couldn't trust at first, and someone you should genuinely fear by the end. He wasn't some emo wannabe villain monologuing about hopelessness and fear, he was a manipulator who's calm and measured mannerisms made him unnerving and even somewhat frightening. And the level of power he obtained by the end of the game made him the single strongest entity that Sonic and his friends ever had to face. Not to mention that in a way, he had succeeded in a way that no other villain has. Sure, Infinite beat Sonic, but he didn't kill him and was so obsessed with making other people feel hopeless that he himself allowed the person who would end up being instrumental in beating him to live and provide the motivation to do so, not to mention sparing Sonic's life like a damn fool. Too bad Sonic 06 was one of the worst Sonic games, because it had the best Sonic Villain.
It's amazing how time changes because back then Mephiles was the edgelord villain. Honestly just make another Sonic game with some time and care put into it first. Sonic Mania was a good start but let's see something like that for 3D.

@@NotaPizzaGRL Honestly, 06 is extremely underrated imo, I didn't see any bugs while playing, and the shit people say they find is normally in places you'd never go into the game, and you need to fucking keep hitting a wall until you can clip it (gamegrumps wall clipping being used as a reason to say the game is bad boils my blood to unreasonable amounts, what the actual fuck, do people really need to make that many stretches to call the game bad, sonic kisses a human that's already enough), very few of the complaints are things you'd normally find throughout the whole game, Mephiles being edgelord probably being one of the stretches people made.
Also silver's battle takes the same amount of time to beat as the first boss, why everyone keeps calling it unbalanced
@@-hello6177 Depends on what happened in Silver battles. Really only hated 4 things from 06 personally.
1. Sonic x Elise ship in game... Just... no... gross and weird. Also they over sexualized the heck out of Elise. That outfit is just so very inappropriate and the storyline focused too much on shipping towards the end.
2. Elise levels... the controls became very demanding and hard to handle in Elise levels turning was very wide so you were likely to hit a wall or obstacle often, and the "shield" was difficult to use as it required perfect timing, and was almost impossible to deal with annoying enemies.
3. Boss battles in the Sonic Storylines. Sonic bosses mainly cause the mechanics and controls could be inconsistent at times or the arenas are just badly designed... like the first Silver Boss fight for example. So many objects that just get in the way making it hard to get around or away and the arena is so small on top of being cluttered that getting caught by Silver means you will likely get trapped on the walls of the arena and spam killed, mainly thanks to Sega slapping a weird knockdown animation for being hit rather than I-Frames like in every other Sonic game.
4. Silver level puzzles and general navigation in the game. Personally I hated Silver's levels because the game never helped you figure out puzzles or anything outside of the basics of using Silver. Then the general navigation system of the game was annoying when you had to go somewhere in the overworld but given zero context or clues about where or how to go there. (Which is what the Grumps ran into first. But in some fairness to the game this is Arin "doesn't pay attention" Hanson who doesn't ever do tutorials or just clicks through everything. Resorting to using a guide in games you shouldn't need them like Wind Waker and more recently Phoenix Wright. Grumps are not really the best to go too for honest gameplay just more laughs and satire.) But the whole game was just too open with the overworld and never helped the player out when they needed it.
Its just all those things happening in a short time that ruin it and Sonic 06 is just not fun to play until you get to shadow levels or late game Sonic ones. Silver is only fun for the first mission then they throw him into environments and puzzles thag are just not suited or hard to use him in.

There was no reason at all to set up Silver to kill Sonic, Mephiles proved he could do that no problem.

By not restricting Mephiles' powers, the writers made him TOO competent a villain. He even could have gone back right after the failed experiment that separated them and joined back right there.
I believe it was explained that Iblis had evolved to not be able to refuse with Mephiles.
Now why couldn't he do it the moment Iblis escapes in the future? Why couldn't he refuse with Iblis by going back before Iblis was sealed? Well i think that has to do with Time Shenanigans. He was already there. So what would've happened to himself if he fused with Iblis and became Solaris infront of his past self? What about the moment Iblis escapes in the future? Perhaps Mephiles and Iblis have to be from the same time in order to fuse with eachother. We don't really know. And trust me. They're never gonna explain it

Here is my version of what infinate was going to be before the game.
1st no fake phantom rubys, it was stupid
2nd let the phantom ruby rewrite everything i.e. create people guns robots ect. with the only limit being the more complex the creation the ruby needs more power (a real person with full emotion would require all seven chaos Emeralds)
Let us start from the beginning.
Green hill zone 2 years prior to sonic forces
Zero the jackal is in a small house outside of Greenhill with a family (wife and daughter)
Zero one day is called to the large city, lets call it metro city, he was called to the city as Eggman forces are closeing in and they need reinforcements. Zero truthfully does not want to fight as when does it solve anything. However it pays very well and this year's harvest will be poor. Zero takes the job and has one week until he needs to leave to Metro City. During this time he spends with his family giving them all good memories for years to come. The day before his departure Zero is visibly shaken and Sally comforts him and say sweatfully "Daddy when I am scared I image heroes that do good and fight on even in danger of being hurt like you". This places a smile on Zero's face and says "you always have an amazing imagination unlike my I could never think of hero's like you do" the constant smile on her face fades as she hears this. She ponders for a second, after her face lights up and quickly says "I make a hero for you", she runs off to her room and begins drawing this last day is uneventful, it was a silent dinner of eggs, pork, and beans everyone's favorite foods.
Early the next morning your wife is the only one up to say goodbye, as you enter your car to drive off you hear a voice scream WAIT and you see her running as fast as her legs can carry her with a paper in her hand. It must be the hero that she drew, no wonder he spent so much time in her room. As she approached the door she hand you the paper and says "good bye" in tear Zero hugs her tough the car window. You only such this could last forever, sadly you must say goodbye once more and drive to Metro City.
Weeks pass by until the end of boot camp. Zero has had a bad relationship with others here as them want to fight Eggman for glory. More uneventful days pass until your platoon is sent to the frontline to protect this city.
The frontline is a nightmare the robots are never ending waves they never tire out Zero thinks to himself as he looks around upon the broken bits of destroyed rubble, homes and parts everywhere. Days, weeks of rain and scorching sun pass and you hear a story of a blue hedgehog that destroys these robots by running into them, Zero dismisses this as a team of fast moving soldiers. One day the robots charge and brake the line of defence you take your lazer wispon and fire at the machines awakening everyone, but instead of them fighting they run leaven you alone to fend off the swarm. The swarm is only a dozen bots or so with quick thinking all the bots are taken care of however one of them gashed Zero's right eye, good news it is simply a flesh wound. The next day Zero is awarded with a purple heart and the silver star. Zero go back to the battlefield and see a blue blur dash by destroying a large by dashing simply near it but he stops as a fox is talking to him they don't seem to see you and talk as of this is a common thing to just walk up to a robot and have it exploded. Apearlty this Sonic has the power to run as fast as sound and that he has not been outside as the weather was "no good" or he simply did not feel like it. This fills you hate as he was born with this power but does not use it, you simply sigh as there is noting you can do about it. Weeks pass and your victorys in this Metro city. Zero heads home smile ing for the first time in weeks. Singing along with the radio until.
Until you see it you once home tears in you eyes as you can no longer see. As you park the car you run to the now tatered house. You fall on you knees and cry you cry as you no longer feel hopeful.
Zero scoured the land trying to find what HAPPENED. After hours of searching zero finds something a crater, a crater much like the ones created by shockwaves but much much larger and a footprint in the center. The footprint had a stripe pattern. Zero knew where this came from but could not remember it. Months past and zero is in a hotel once more looking at the photos of his now gone family until he reaches a single sheet of yellowed paper. As zero opens the paper it is a drawing, a drawing of a hero to help others a hero with a mask with one eye and a lighting bolt in the other. And with ears of a hibnodic pattern, and a note in pencil
Dear Daddy,
"I want you to know that what ever happens no matter how sad or scared you are you will always have a hero to help you."
This thought of a hero bring Zeros' mind to sonic as he ....... Sonic ........ SONIC ......his mind clicks together and remembers his footprint with a crater and a single footprint in the dirt..............IT WAS SONIC ......... THE "HERO" .....THE "SAVIOR" ....... Zeros mind is pulled in to rage against THE SO CALLED "HERO" . Over the next few days Zeros tries to find any why to get revenge on this HERO online research yielded only more pain as Zero discovered that this Sonic has never lost a friend or enimy and most terrible of all had numerous opitonity to kill the greatest murder of all time Dr. Eggman. He needed revenge he NEEDED IT, however he had nothing to his name no farm no hope and only a car with a gallon of gas. He needed money now so he took the highest paid job he could find 120000 a year and was extraction of valueable artifacts. Zero did not care what is was and signed the forms. Their 1st mission was to sneak into a base of Eggman and collect a "chaos Emerald" and another artifact somewhere in the base. It went smoothly until Zero was told to collect a rather large ruby. As zero grabs it a wave of sothing is let out and everyone passes out when Zero wakes up the ruby is IN HIS CHEST zero pulls at it but nothing happens zero tries to wake the others but nothing no response from anyofthem zero simples grbs the chaos Emerald and runs he imagines running at great speed as if it could read his mind the ruby glows and zero is running at the same speed the thought of and leaves the base. And runs without tireding. He runs in to a rock placing his hands up and wished the rock not their and passes by it unscathed. Zero now tests the limit of his power and discovers that the chaos Emerald ampliy his new power 10 fold. During this time he stole another emerald from a bat useing his newfound speed. The 2nd emerald incresed this power 100 fold compared to what it was with only a 1 emeled this allowed zero to create a person but they were without emotion or any feeling he knew that if he collected all 7 that anything is possible. But who would have the resources to collect all 7....not him any one but him.........DR. Eggman..........
Days passed by as Zero knew it was the only way but he could not be seen with him at all but but how. Zero looked at the photo book but a paper fell out Zero picked up and saw a hero not just any hero his hero his families hero the hero he needs to be and using all of his current power creates a mask a mask with a red lighting bolt and one eye than places it upon his face that flies over to Eggmens base no longer Zero, no longer a fool now able to save everyone unlike how he was before, now the has endless possibilities now he is Infinate.
Tldr: Sonic killed infinate' s family by accident and the only way to bring them back is to use the phantom ruby and 7 chaos Emeralds, so infinate made a mask to hid his true identity in order to work with eggman collect all 7 then rewite the world and live a peaceful life afterwords.
He also hates sonic for not using his natully born powers by being lazy, and that sonic never lost anyone where still looking like a hero
Infinite lost everyone for even a scrap of power to truly protect everyone. But lost everyone and thing he cared about when he did truly try to protect them

I think this is very interesting, cause Sonic '06 is always lampooned for being a terrible game. I don't mean to disagree, but could SEGA also just be scared of reusing Mephiles cause of all the hate Sonic '06 got.
I think a new villian would be great, or revamp Eggman, and make him darker. Like back when he was in the original games, or in Sonic Adventure 2. Make eggman an absolute savage again.

Just because Cream made her first appearance in Sonic Advanced games (maybe the most forgettable Sonic game) is no excuse to forget her she helped build Blaze into a loveable character, befriended a Ermal, If they forget her then they might as well bin everyone she ever founded.

I am so happy that Mephiles is getting attention now, and even better, it's been revealed that he's getting into the mobile app "Sonic Forces: Speed Battle" later in October 2022.
Also, another thing about Infinite and Mephiles is that Infinite wanted to end literally everything JUST because he was called weak, nothing else. Mephiles was part of Solaris and didn't care if he was insulted or not. No insults changed his character whatsoever, while Infinite changed into a whiny child with anger issues.
