I think he's cool. He's 87. Probably will be alive for in-between 5 - 10 more years and he's spending his twilight years having an adventure in the Philippines.

My wife's grandfather here in Leyte was in the war. He says he is 96 and was with the Americans for months in Leyte. He has alot of stories of Japanese and the Americans. He didn't carry a rifle, but supported the Americans. Scouting and washing clothes, etc.

Another excellent interview Mark. I enjoyed listening to Peter, such a character with an inviting smile and a keen sense of humour. Peter is only 4 years my senior, i was born May 30, 1940 in NZ. My Filipina and i have been married 26 years some of it at our Cebu residence. In our barangay i knew everyone, although no one went out of their way to help me with anything especially after we cut off the gravy train, we became the bad people in the neighbourhood. LoL. I was in my 70s then, but i'm told i look much younger than my age, maybe thats why? Some, were quite insulting to me. Thats the truth. Sure, I believe your story when you live in a small barangay in Ph and you're the only foreigner for miles around, it's expected of you to provide funds for some who are asking for it and if you refused then they get angry at you, I know of situations like yours when I lived in permanently in Ph, luckily I left, couldn't stand the hassle, I've been back couple of times visiting other areas for a short time as i still have friends there, better that way.
@@richieredw9218 I think that you don’t get hassled in some parts of the PI. One place is BGC, but it’s more expensive. They’re building other places like BGC. Eastwood, CGC, NGC and others. I’ve heard that Iloilo is nice.
