I’m so glad y’all reacted to this! This song is so iconic!! The first time I saw this was on MTV, it was a really popular song back then. At 10 Boa was my first introduction and into kpop. :)
Sameeee. I saw it on MTV when I was 9 and listened to it all the time but I didnt find out kpop until like 2 years later. But technically this song is my first kpop song haha.
@@A7Xfan161 same!!! I’m in such a shock because technically I’ve been a kpop Stan even before I realized it, or before it took over the world. I use to blast this.
To answer Zak's question: all of the styles BoA does in this dance could be considered hip-hop to some extent, but it does draw on specific styles. The part where she's crossing her legs and kicking out is drawing from toprock, which is one of the four elements of breakdance and refers to intricate leg movements performed standing up that show your style and musicality while building up momentum to go down to the floor (the other three elements being downrock, the same concept but danced on the floor instead of standing, power moves, which are things like spins and jumps that are the most flashy moments of the dance, and freezes, where you suddenly stop moving to hold a pose using muscle control and balance before going back into movement). Her dance also borrows from popping, where you alternate between motion and stillness to create a robotic effect (sometimes also only moving certain parts of your body at a time, called isolations or isos, which is the origin of the wave).
What style would her heel stagger move fall into? That's the most memorable for me in this video. Not sure that I've seen it anywhere else (at least in kpop).
*Always happy to see reactions to the old and GOLDEN K-Pop!!!* THEY deserve attention and love!!! Thank you guys!!! Don't remember watching you guys but I want to recommend you to view *DREAMCATCHER* (I advise you to see exactly Piri!!!) and of course *T-Ara* (cycle of stories Day by day!) it would be VERY interesting to see the reaction of the guys. Thank you!
Yes I really like "Piri" and it is from their most recent comeback. Interesting fact a "piri" is a Korean double reed instrument, made of bamboo, used in both Korean folk and classical music.
Hi guys, I am soo happy you are reacting and appreciating the older Kpop as well. It’s the songs and artists like BOA and all the other 1st and 2nd generation idols (Wonder Girls, SHINee, Girls Generation, Super Junior, HOT, SES and Big Bang) that made Kpop reach to the point where it is so widely known now and received so warmly. I hope it continues to grow through the right path and help soo many artists that deserve recognition get their share of bit.
Some of BoA’s early stuff has the fiercest choreography, her song “I Did It For Love” with Sean Garret isn’t her best song (although it’s still really fun) has some of the coolest choreography, seriously it is incredible!!!
I love seeing reactions to some Kpop classics! So many reactors only watch things that just came out, so that can get tiresome--I love when you mix it up and react to some new-to-you stuff. ^^ I'd love to see some reactions to some of the real kpop veterans who've been in the biz a long time. So many of the idols these days are just infant children, I love seeing the more mature singers kill it: my recommendation would be Brave New World by Brown Eyed Girls or Sniper (or Kiss Me Like That!) by Shinhwa 8)
Omg thank you so much for reaction to any BoA songs. This is old but golden!!! Many reactor only reacts to new generations of kpop so i appreciate this guys, you 4 are amazing! BoA is truly the Queen of kpop and deserve so much love and support that this generation doesn't give anymore to first gen of kpop artists. I love you guys please next time i hope you would react to BoA only one mv or Camo or Hurricane Venus mv 🙏
Old but gold! This was actually one of the earliest songs that have brought me into kpop. I really love this song and the choreo :) Another song by Boa I like is "Only One". It's a song she wrote and composed, with a very, very great dance. And it's newer than this (2012). Might want to check that out too :)
YES B I wasn't expecting this, but lately I've been getting people into BoA, I'm so ready if you guys are doing more of her music! I'd say you gotta check out her Girls on Top mv and Only One (DANCE VER) mv, she is known for her supporting dancers as well ohoho and she also has had other idols dance with her when she preforms that song live (like Taemin many times and Eunhyuk etc). THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
And that is why SM selected BoA when she was 11 or 12 and why she debuted when she was only 13 years old because she is so amazing, and she did it all as a solo artist without the help or support of a group. Can you believe that BoA debuted in 2000 which means she has been in the industry for close to 20 years now and she is only 32 years old. :D She was one of the youngest artists in the industry when she debuted and she is now one of SM's longest held artists. She started under SM and is still represented by SM. So she has been in the industry for almost 19 years and she is still younger than a lot of artists who have come after her. That's how much of a legend she is. :D "Eat You Up" was a part of her English album which was released in the U.S. and the song was pretty popular and even made it on the American music charts. She was one of the first Kpop artists to chart in the U.S. -- the song actually was played on some mainstream U.S. radio stations and was on MTV in the U.S . If you haven't already, I recommend checking out her MV for "Only One" its pretty epic and her dancing is so iconic. She is considered one of the best female dancers in the industry. BoA is an OG of OGs. I also recommend checking out some of the live performances of "Only one" because there is an iconic dance moment in the choreography that almost every lead male dancer in SM has had a cameo/featured moment in that part of the dance. Taemin has been her dance partner during "Only One" several times , as well as U-know from TVXQ, Eunhyuk from Super Junior, and Sehun of EXO, etc. Key of SHINee is such a fanboy of hers. LOL You should really watch one of the latest episodes of "Happy Together Ep. 569 with English Subs" which featured all of SM artists such as BoA, Key from SHINee, Beakhyun and Sehun from EXO, Jaehyun and Taeyong of NCT, Comedian Lee Soo Geun and MC Jeon Hyun Moo. The episode was filmed at SM Entertainment headquarters and it talks about the history of SM and all of SM's top artists, etc. It was a great episode.
Misha Gabriel and Flii Stylz choreographed EAT YOU UP. But Kenny was one of her backup dancers throughout her American career. Watch ENERGETIC & I DID IT FOR LOVE feat. Sean Garrett. He’s in those as well.
BoA is a dancer, i used to call her the korean Ciara rather than Britney. Also that style, yes it was a time but like..if you ever check out some of her other stuff that's honestly her style in general. Very laid back, hoodie tomboy-ish lol I would like to see you guys listen to her softer songs, her voice is very soothing and unique :) Love you guys! And y'alls song is a bop!
I jammed to this song when i got into kpop 7 years ago. I didn't know Boa and that song made me love her so much. She looks badass, I'm actually glad she wasn't wearing a "saucy outfit" bc for once a woman wasn't objectified and sexualized. She slayed with her talent ^^
Boa is iconic like she is the queen of kpop no lie say watever you want she is the true queen of kpop and they are even named her the queen of kpop . I still support boa
What's really cool about her story is she went with her older brother when he auditioned for SM and out danced him as like an 11 year old so she got signed instead. She debuted as a solo artist at 14 and has been killing it ever since. She has a very distinct dance and music style in kpop that is unmistakably BoA.
YES, BoA! React to Copy and Paste! What I like about her, at least in this era, is the hip-hop dancing as well. I watched I think MBC's BoA special of her live performances from debut to present and was impressed with her dancing and mostly live singing. She didn't always have the best or most stable vocals, but she was doing it, people didn't mind then, and it didn't detract from the performances. I also noticed she improved over time.
BOA is the Beyoncé of Asia. A queen an Icon has been making music in Japan and Korea since the 90s and she’s timeless. Eat You Up is from her American Album in 2009. So Decade ago. Obviously dated, however a classic and she’s highly respected in the Korean Music industry.
She's awesome, yes Kenny Wormwald choreograph this dance. She was one of my favs back in the day even with 2NE1...my 1st luv for Kpop (can y'all react HHI Championship 1st place New Zealand's Mega Crew 2019) use won't be disappointed.
omg i'm so glad you guys reacted to this! thank you😍😍 also could you guys react to Girls Generation songs like "Mr. Mr.", "I Got A Boy", "You Think", "Catch Me If You Can" and more. pls😊
Y’all should listen to her song called “No.1” if want a GOOD 90’s/ early 2000’s throwback. Also, “Shadow” SLAPS and “Only One” is her BIGGEST HIT!!!!! PLZ look into BoA more. Literal OG for idols
When someone asks if there's a style to that dance (a name to it) .... you just say... it's the BoA dance. It's a thing of it's own and i'm *HERE* for it
An interesting fact, that you can watch on the subbed video of Weekly Idol or her reality show Keyword BoA, is that she is known for memorizing choreography VERY quickly. Also, her song Moto also has strong dancing. She actually did a dance movie with Derek Hough called "Make Your Move". Unfortunately, it didn't do well in the box office. In Korea, at the time the movie came out, the Sewol Ferry incident had occurred, so most of the country was in a state of emotional distress
Her songs never old and thats why she does not exit industry while her new generation some are gone and some solo artist is giving up already. She is one of a kind

Waiting for that BoA - CAMO MV reaction
I'm glad you're reacting to old kpop as well! Could you please react to Infinite too? Especially Bad, the Chaser (dance ver), Back....

This is more than 10 years ago, OMG. I love Boa, she is really talented and amazing on stage. My favorite song, "Eien".
I really thought I was the only person who knew this song. Makes me happy to know others appreciate her too.
I listened to this song a lot as a child and I didn’t know who the artist was until I got into kpop and knew about Boa

This song came out in 2009 and till this day I listen to it😂❤️
An interesting fact, that you can watch on the subbed video of Weekly Idol or her reality show Keyword BoA, is that she is known for memorizing choreography VERY quickly.
Finally, you reacted to the most iconic song of my queen 👑😍❤️
Fun fact in Korea BoA performed on stage with Britney on 26th of December 2003. On that concert also debuted TVXQ with Hug :)
Her songs never old and thats why she does not exit industry while her new generation some are gone and some solo artist is giving up already. She is one of a kind
Queen of k-pop!!!
I loved this song back in the day.
Me, a German girl that had never even heard of K-pop. I don't know how she ended up on my MP3-player, but she did and it was one of my favorite songs. Still is.
Only yeeeeeears later, did I find out what k-pop was and who BoA really is. I got into k-pop in 2015, so for seven years I wandered around my life, not knowing that BoA was a) Korean and b) the queen of a "genre" I didn't even know existed... :D
Omg more BoA videos please! Great reaction guys :)
BoA is famous for her dancing, she is so talented, She is OG Kpop, been a fan of her since 2005.
BoA- Only One
This is a great song to react to.
a classic by a legend! Yas
Yes BoA
If you guys want to see a girl group doing really hard energetic choreo, you should see Dreamcatcher. They don't have a girly feminine concept, and the best part they're rock music based so I think Monroe would like them especially. ☺️
Yas! The golden era and the Queen!!! 👑🙌🏾
She's the Queen for a reason 🖤
You should check out BoA - Copy and Paste and BoA - Camo. BoA is one of the Kpop and Jpop queens.
The crisscrossing of legs is shuffling??? I think? Also Boa fucking paved the path since 2000! Still holding the industry on her shoulder. This was my jam in 6th grade
You guys should definitely react to “BoA - Only One/ Camo and or “One Shot Two Shot”
BoA is originally a Beat Girl. She does a lot of popping and locking and other moves. All in all she is one of the best dancers in Korea. Just like Taemin she started at a young age in the industry.
UGH. The way all her backups are male and she changes her body language entirely for the dance and matches up and does it FLAWLESSLY.
QUEEN
And it’s funny the “Korean Britney” thing - they once shared a stage together
Which also happened to include the debut stage of other KPOP royalty - TVXQ 😊
If y’all want more of boa’s great dancing you should watch “only one”
thank you guys for giving attention to the girl who started the waves of korean culture everywhere. without her, we probably wouldn't know any of the groups we love, bc she revolutionized the industry entirely.
Hi! Please react to Sunmi- noir and stray kids miroh
What a QUEEN!!!
eat you up by boA is a classic!
I recommend mv of BoA-ONLY ONE! I think it is the best mv that you can enjoy her good vocal and choreography at the same time. And i also want u to react BoA's Kiss my lips mv, quite sensual.
Omg I'm so glad to see this reaction boa deserves it so much . You should check out the live performance for heavens day by changmin from tvxq 😊

You know what'd be great? A riverse cover of this song.. That!
More old and legend kpop vidzzz!!!
I was like 17 when this song came out and it really was the shit at the time. BoA made it cool to be a harder-imaged female solo artist when SNSD or Lee HyoRi almost always went for cutesy/sexy looks.
talking about dancing in the rain you should react to Rain's dancing in the mv love song
I agree Khadijah! We don’t get many female artists hitting difficult and harder hitting choreo
i really hope someone requests kiss my lips by boa because i feel they'd really like that song and mv
Omg you should react to one shot two shot and only one dance ver. BoA is soooooo cool~~~
