what i love about these particular arpeggios is that they're literally everywhere on the fretboard and you can kind of pick your own favorite shapes that feel the most comfortable

Rick, I think I never wrote this under your videos but you are by far the most influential guitar player for me. I own all of your teaching videos and have spent hundreds of hours over the last years practicing your licks so thank you SO much for putting all of your content out there.

Thank you very much for this !! I'm an intermediate player myself and a lot of what you do in the video's is a bit over my playing skills. I may never be good enough to sweep or shred, but I love the sound of arpeggio's and really needed this video.

Great stuff as always, Rick, but I also interested in how to play those arpeggios horizontally across the fretboard. Maybe that could be your next video.

Hey Rick. GREAT video. I hope it's not much to ask, but is it at all possible that you do more videos demonstrating exactly these arpeggios in other positions, also in 5-string-root (not 6-sting-root) ?

Mr Graham! How much do you take for private lessons? Thank you! I am opera singer with Kiev konservatory education! I am studying shred guitar for 7 years and I guess my teacher can’t give me more knowledge. Actually I am not reach guy. However why not? I can ask!😊

Hi Rick, Thanks for your lessons. Question about your signature guitar by Charvel. I noticed that the body is made of Basswood and wonder if you chose this because it is lightweight or because it is a favorite tone wood? I haven't purchased many guitars made of Basswood and wondered the reason behind use it instead of Alder or Mahogany. Thanks much. It is a beautiful guitar and I'm considering purchasing one.

This is how I’ve been approaching arpeggios and lead improvisation lately but i’m having trouble breaking out of the box when it comes to using them tastefully and not just sounding like I’m going up and down each one. Any tips? Thank you as always for these lessons ❤

    • @Gregorypeckory

I have a few: mix up arpeggios and extra notes, like from a scale that fits, or just try adding one note, like the 4th to a major triad, a really great majestic sound!
Try to make the changes to busy bebop tunes like Donna Lee that have lots of chords go by at quick tempo and two chords per measure; then you don't have time to go up or down the same arpeggio until it sounds monotonous.
Try focusing on the modulations, work out different transitions between chords, and get those into muscle memory.
An example would be deciding that to get from A7 to D7, you will go up to G, the flat 7 of A, then from the G to back down to the 3rd, a tritone lower, which is a cool interval that will help break up the monotony, and then slide down a fret to the C, for the chord change because C is the flat 7th of the D chord.
You can work out all kinds of transitions ahead of time like that. Practice them and get them under your fingers. It will break up the monotony and provide you plenty of hours of entertainment.
