Frank Capra Interview 1977 Brian Linehan's City Lights

In this interview from 1977, director Frank Capra discusses his life and film career. After discovering his love for America as a song immigrant parents, he went on to act and direct film across six decades.
He talks with Brian about his first movie, the 1927 film For The Love Of Mike, which he says was "a terrible film," the 1933 film Lady For A Day, the 1934 film It Happened One Night, the 1937 film Lost Horizon, the 1959 film A Hole In The Head and the 1961 film Pocket Full of Miracles. Stars that come up in conversation include Claudette Colbert, Clark Gable, Bette Davis, Frank Sinatra and Barbara Stanwyck. He also tells a story about Winston Churchill.

Brian Linehan, who passed away in 2004, left his entire estate to The Brian Linehan Charitable Foundation to provide training, work opportunities and promotion for young actors of exceptional talent. All of the income of his Foundation is donated to not-for-profit institutions for that purpose. In the decade since his death, recipients of the Foundation’s support have included extraordinary young actors affiliated with the Canadian Film Centre, The National Screen Institute of Canada, the Stratford Shakespearean Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, which, since Brian's passing, has preserved and housed Brian's personal archive and tape library.
